I have the Frog God Games supplement "Book Of Lost Spells". It has the spell "Sacred Symbol", which I am not sure how to interpret what it does.

Quote:

Sacred Symbol
School abjuration
Level cleric/oracle 1, druid 1, paladin l, ranger 1
Casting Time 10 minutes
Components V, S, DF
Range touch
Area 5-ft. radius/level emanation
Duration 1 day/level
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no

A sacred symbol provides a +2 sacred bonus to saving throws involving Will. Additionally, the spell provides a +1 bonus to skill checks that match the dominion of the god or goddess of the symbol.

My questions on this:

Can you touch anything and the spell emanates from there? A person, place or thing?

If what you touch is mobile, does the emanation move with it?

Does it affect everybody within the emanation, friend and foes alike?

Does it only affect worshipers of said deity?

Thanks you -
Matt Harris

I am looking to join a Wizard settlement with associated crafting settlement, or a wizard/crafting settlement if there is such.

Any suggestions? Should I be posting this somewhere else?

I can't access the "My Account","My Downloads", "My Subscriptions", "Shopping Cart" and several other sections of the website.

Most of them just show the 'closed for MLK' day notice

I just realized my first thread was unclear and I can no longer edit the header - please cancel this order.

I added 19 items in the Paizo Golem 2013 sale to my cart. The total was about $75.

I figured I'd have them ship with my next adventure path subscription; bad idea - the price jumped to $214.

I switched to ship them as soon as possible. It says the promotions are applied, but the price is $214.

I can't figure out how to cancel the order so I can just redo it.

I have just started running the Kingmaker AP, and the party managed to capture a giant trapdoor spider at the request of the wizard.

Said wizard wants to keep said spider alive and milk it for its venom. I don't the he has any realisitic chance of it - the only relevant skill he has is Craft (alchemy). However, I don't want to ban the attempt outright - the character can try. I just want ideas on all of the ways he can fail - spectacularly or otherwise.

Currently I have:

1) Trapdoor spiders can dig - they may not have a burrow speed. That kind of rules out keeping it in an earthen pit or some such.

2) They (and I) don't know how much to feed it. Any idea on how much it would it eat? There is a character with Knowledge(nature) so they might be able to figure that out.

3) "Milking" the spider is likely to be very difficult & dangerouse - at least if it is conscious.

Any other ideas?

Do you have to be a Sorceror before you can swap out the Fiendish Sorcery trait for Prehensile Tail or Soul Seer? Or is it that only Sorcerors can have Prehensile Tails?

I just got notice this order contains two copies of Rise of the Runelords hardcover. I thought I only ordered (and only want) one.

Can this be corrected before it ships?

I have a Pathfinder Battles: Heroes & Monsters Brick in my sidecart for my adventure path subscription, which I would like removed.

I will instead be buying it in a large order which I will be making today.

Thanks-
Matt Harris

I was reading the description for Ear-Piercing Scream and noticed that the Effect section says its duration is 1 rd per level. However the body of the text says that the target is dazed for 1 round and takes damage. 1/2 damage and no daze for save.

I am assuming that the 1 rd/level duration is a mistake?

In our last Pathfinder gaming session, one of the other players and I got into a somewhat heated dispute over a rules interpretation.

The specifics of the situation:
One of the players casts Sleet Storm on a group of 5 hill giants, blocking vision into the area. The other player was flying above them. I suggested that he use a wand of fireballs on them. He said that he couldn't do that, as he has to have Line of Sight to the grid intersection where the fireball would originate.

I argued that was not the case, that the fireball would need an unobscured line of effect to the grid intersection, but being able to see it was not an actual requirement. Specifically, he could point, aim, guesstimating where it would hit the ground, and fire the spell off. While it might not hit precisely where he wanted, it should be within a square or two.

His counterargument was that the grid intersection was a target, and that the rules specifically say you had to see a target (or touch it) in order to affect them.

Anyway, we did something different - aiming at the top of the Sleet Storm which would affect the giants as they are 10' tall.

We are still of the opinion that each others' interpretation is totally (or near totally) wrong.

I just wanted to see what other people think. Using his interpretation it would be impossible to send fireballs through obscuring mists, etc. and that just seems wrong to me.

I am working on a pseudodragon familiar for my Pathfinder Society Wizard and I have a couple of questions.

My questions:
1) I calculate that the psuedodragon's CMB should be -2 (+2 from BAB, -2 Str, -2 Size), not +2. As a familiar, the pseudodragon's BAB with be a minimum of +3, which should improve its CMB. Do I assume that their is some hidden +4 racial bonus to CMB and calculate it from there, do the calculation normally and only use it if its CMB goes up, or simply assume the stat block is wrong and calculate normally?

2) A familiar normally has Acrobatics, Climb, Fly, Perception, Stealth, and Swim as class skills. A pseudodragon has Appraise, Bluff, Climb, Craft, Diplomacy, Fly, Heal, Intimidate, Knowledge (all), Linguistics, Perception, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Stealth, Survival, Swim, and Use Magic Device. As an improved familiars type doesn't change, does the pseudodragon retain his class skills, or does it use the familiar skill list? I presume the first but want an official ruling as this is for PFS play.

As a side note, I come up with pseudo-dragons have 28 skill points. As 2 HD dragons, they should have 12. Am I missing something? My calculations for those interested:

Diplomacy +5 = 2 skill points +3 for class
Fly +15 = 10 skill points +3 for class +2 for Dex
Perception +6 = 2 skill points +3 for class +1 for Wisdom
Sense Motive +6 = 2 skill points +3 for class +1 for Wisdom
Stealth +19 = 10 skill points +3 for class +2 for Dex + 4 racial
Survival +6 = 2 skill points +3 for class +1 for Wisdom

I have a rules question on how wizards learn new spells.

Under the Spellcraft description on page 106, it states "If you fail to learn a spell from a spellbook or scroll, you must wait at least 1 week before you can try again."

Under the rules for adding spells (Adding Spells to a Wizard's Spellbook) on page 219, it states "If the check fails, the wizard cannot understand or copy the spell. He cannot attempt to learn or copy that spell again until he gains another rank in Spellcraft."

Do both of these apply, i.e. wait at least a week and gain a rank in Spellcraft? Or are the rules on page 219 legacy rules that should have been changed?
