About Grawan
Born into a poor farming family living in the surrounding region of Sanpoint, Grawan grew up in his father's shadow as the favorite son.
He played in the hills and attended school in the town, and always had an inward-facing quality. Not quite a classical introvert, his self-confidence was tempered with deep introspection.
As one of three boys, Grawan had a normal childhood until age six. His father began to drink, and the associated troubles began to affect his parent's marriage.
One night, in a particularly drunken stupor, his father struck his mother repeatedly and violently, and Grawan fought him off, driving his father from the home into the night.
While he had saved his mother from the violence, Grawan was forever cast by his brothers as the one who had "driven father away".
And, while this was never spoken between them, Grawan knew it was his brother's deepest sentiment.
As a result, Grawan was cast in the role of the black sheep of the family, though the "bad boy" reputation that was cast onto him served him well with ladies into his teen and early adult years.
Grawan attracted the attention of more than one beautiful woman in Sandpoint. This included the attention of Petra Dornamen, a tall, blonde beauty in town that his younger brother had set his sights upon.
One night last month, in a drunken rage (much like his father's), Grawan's brother accused him of stealing her heart away from him.
Grawan had no such intention, and he stood staunchly against his brother's accusations.
After a bloody skirmish amongst them, his brothers siezed that moment to expell Grawan from the house, along with all of his belongings.
Grawan's mother said nothing, as she weighed the abandonment of one boy versus two.
His mother's silence over this matter cut deep into Grawan, forever scarring his soul. He tends not to trust women as a result, and is also wary of getting too close to any male friends.
While he is not unreachable, he is apt not to be vulnerable with anyone. A darkness taints his countenance, not evil, but his wary nature can put off strangers and those that seek to connect with him.
Only a rare few, and only in rare situations, get a glimpse of Grawan's deeply buried sensitive side.
But most would think him a hardened, somewhat heartless fighter. His tall, brawny frame, along with chisled features and dark hair and eyes only adds to this projected image.
After taking up temporary residence at the Rusty Dragon Inn at Sandpoint, Grawan has decided to seek adventure in the world, and also an outlet for his inner turmoil -- as a fighter.
So, after buying supplies, with a weary heart and anticipation, he boarded the very next ship to sail, at random.
"That a'way...", he thought to himself, as he boarded the ship to sail to parts unknown...but surely to adventure, glory, and escape from his present circumstances!
