Grask grew up by the sea, his clan being pirate and slavers. It was a glorious life to any Orc, but it was also a harsh life and an Orc that didn't learn sooner or later drowned, but for an Orc Grask wasn't only bright but downright brilliant. He first sailed on the Blood Prize, the largest ship in the clan, but later after several cruises where he learnt his trade well he was given the position as Quartermaster onboard the small raider the Dread Raven.
After more than a year's onboard the Dread Raven the raider was ambushed by a pirate hunter, King's Justice, despite Grask's advice the captain Ausk Shark killer decided to attack the far more powerful pirate hunter and after a brief and bloody battle Grask was in command as the most senior surviving crewman. Grask ordered a retreat which the heavily wooden remains of the crew attempted with limited success and the Dread Raven tried it's best to make its escape but it was heavily damaged. The chase lasted several days when a sudden storm broke out and neither ship could escape it.
The storm was terrible and the Dread Raven lost its main mast during the storm and the King's Justice got in close once more, the captain being a fanatic cared little for the storm and ordered his crew to board the Dread Raven and soon after a battle broke out. However the violent sea cast the two ships on undersea reef and soon dragged both ships under.
Grask was, as far as he knew the only survivor and was found a week later by a small island convent of nuns dedicated to Saint Christine. here he was brought back to life and after spending a month in a locked room he began to pretend to be/become civilized and eventually after another month he was given limited freedom, however the convent was isolated and seldom had visitors from the outside and few wanted anything to do with an Orc and as time passed the pretense stopped being a lie and became the truth, Grask began to believe in the Saint Christine and it took five years before he was able to leave the island.
When he arrived in a human city he was first meet with extreme prejudice, nevertheless after several weeks he manages to acquire a berth on a ship and began working as an honest sailor onboard the merchant ship Lily Marie. The merchant eventually sold the ship and fired all his men as part of a business deal with business competitor and that left Grask without a job however the RSS Paradiso is seeking men and perhaps an Orc as well.
