BACKSTORY:
Gilraen is the only child of a merchant family in Taldan. While not wealthy enough to be considered “pampered and spoiled”, her parents attempted it anyway. She attended a private school that was populated mostly by the children of diplomats. There she learned to use her natural charm and beauty to acquire what a slim wallet and a lack of pedigree could not. She became an Oracle of Desna and has spent her subsequent years traveling the world finding employment as an entertainer (she plays the flute), mediator/diplomat and healer.
When her beauty has become more of a liability than asset, she has always managed to get out of the situation by offering a pitying look and offering the following tale “You don’t know anything about Aasimar, do you? The Celestials from whom we are descended managed to pass on a little protection that has lasted throughout the generations. Anyone who takes an Aasimar against his or her will, within a year, loses – shall we say – the equipment necessary to ever repeat such an affront. Assuming that is, they actually remain alive long enough for the curse to take effect.” It’s a complete crock, but between a good bonus on bluff and the average would-be rapist’s concern for his private parts, it’s always worked.
The night in Port Peril she had arrived at the door of the inn and just decided that she would prefer avoid it and camp outside of town when the fracas broke out. The sight of AnnaMarie being struck, however, was too much to ignore.
