"I had returned from my last adventuring odyssey. It was supposed to be my retirement. I had recovered relics from a sunken temple....it's hard to remember things now...like a dream after you wake up..everyone began acting so strangely. Even the animals. My husband started drinking bottles and bottles of wine a day. Everyone was irritable. Angry. Scared, although no one could say what. Then the floods began. We couldn't leave the house. Our carrier pigeons refused to fly. It was like we were trapped on a desert island... He threw lavish parties for the servants, everyone seemed convinced it was the end of the world. They ate all the food we had stored, they drank all the wine. They had orgiastic late night festivals of flesh. It seemed I was the only one who kept my wits. I trapped....something in the basement. It was like a huge....swimming...rug? I don't know. The waters are murky and...Olias turns to his companions and reports some of what the ghost has told him. "She confirms much of what the letters suggested. She also mentions some kind of swimming rug in the basement, something she trapped. If I were to guess, it is some kind of dangerous creature, so we should be careful."
He turns back to the ghost. "Lady Adoni, this is an amazing tale, and you have my deepest condolences for what has transpired here. We will do all in our power to restore your manor, but we need more information.
"Let me start by asking questions about this room. We have found the ring that allowed you to breathe underwater, but how were you able to walk around? Was there iron in your boots?
"We also noticed the herbs and plants in these drawers. I assume you collected these in your travels. Were you the creator of these potions? And what of these letter tiles? What is their purpose?
"We also heard a voice, which, I now assume was yours, warn us about some of the items in this room, that one is cursed. Which should we avoid? Could we each take an item, or do we only...
"There's a clay tablet that has been causing this. It appeared a few days after everyone started to go mad and most of them that already perished. At least their minds. The ones in the dining room just sat there and let themselves drown as they sit there. The tablet is floating above the staircase right now. That's what the water is pouring out. I don't know how a clay tablet can turn into an ocean. It's floating in the air. I tried throwing things at it. Striking it. But it doesn't budge. I eventually had to wait for the water to get high enough so I could reach it. I got a ladder and I was going to try and fit it into a bag of holding. Or maybe drop the bag of holding over the top of it to try and contain it but that's when the shark attacked me.
You're welcome to take any of the items. You've convinced me that you're trustworthy and that you're going to do the right thing. I usually don't trust people so easily but your put me at ease, Olias. Any of the items are yours. I can't remember the answers...I wrote them so long ago. The titles were for that one. She motions to the one that contains the tome. The boots of levitation. They are cursed. Don't put them on if you do you will levitate indefinitely. Up and up. High heights."
She seems to be struggling to speak. Her words seem far away. Her image begins to fade.
"Leave room. Come back. Close... Each time. You take..."
She's gone in the blink of an eye.
