About Gawen ap Gelert
Gawen ap Gelert
Found in the woods as a baby, young Gawen’s lineage is unknown, but it seems that the blood of Bendigeidfran runs in his veins - at almost 7ft tall, and with tousled red hair and beard, he cuts an imposing figure which belies his soft-spoken nature.
Perhaps because of this apparent otherworldly ancestry, the walls between Prydain and Annwn run thin near Gawen - he’s noticed on occasion his shadow falls at a slightly different angle to everyone else’s, as if cast from a different sun, and when he shuts his eyes he hears whispers, or far-off voices as if from a distant shore.
This connection with the otherworld lets him see things others don’t. He can feel the natural magic that leaks into our world and collects in nodes and ley lines, that can be tapped into by those who know how.
Because of his apparent aptitude for the Druidic arts, he was apprenticed at a young age to a druid from the neighbouring kingdom of Dumnonia, from whom he learned much druidic lore.

(It’s hard to tell whether Pen Dynn is actually small for a dog, or if he just looks small next to Gawen, but he’s got plenty of teeth and isn’t afraid to show them. Looks like the offspring of a night of passion between a yorkie and a collie, but frankly there are more questions over his ancestry than there are over Gawen’s)
