It was an exhibition game: We were trying the 3.0 D&D system for the first time. Everyone else had a bad opinion of the Fighter. Everything else got a TON of Special Abilities.

My very 1st Character EVER was a Fighter, so I checked out the 3.0 version for the 1st time.

I made one, and we were all 8th Level for the exhibition game.

I had a Greatsword +2, an 18 strength, Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave, Weapon Focus (Greatsword),Weapon Specialization (Greatsword), Improved Critical (Greatsword), Improved Initiative, and Toughness (Added 3 HP each time you took it back then).

We saw a large group of creatures in the cavern ahead, and we moved to the attack. I think that they were Lizard Men. I volunteered to soften them up.

Gared ran at them, and OBLITERATED the one Lizard Man he could hit. The rest swarmed him. Surrounded, by enemies, he could not expect aid from the Wizard, or risk taking Fireball Damage. Thusly, I said that I'd handle them alone. The next round, I did.

Great Cleave required that I 'Drop' one target before being allowed to attack the next in line. Lizard Men do NOT have enough Hit Points to survive what I dished out that day.

The GM described the action once my attacks had been resolved, and only ONE Lizard Man was left (I never hit that last guy at all).

"A ring of blood and gore EXPLODES away from the Fighter, as all but one is hacked IN HALF with one swipe of Gared's sword..."

Every other Player had their jaws on the table. NOBODY had ever seen Great Cleave used before (exhibition game)!

I will NEVER forget that evening!!!

I think the Build as you have given it is GOOD!

I like the fact that you may dip into Fighter, but will stay mostly Barbarian.
The soul of a Character should NOT be sold for a few special abilities. Still, two levels in Fighter will be a big help.

When you get high enough level, I recommend the following Feat: Vital Strike!

Usable in both Ranged and Melee combat, and it does not matter what weapon you use! If you wanted to cause massive damage to a target in the initial round, then Vital Strike feat chain is for you!

I am reading it now...So far so good...I'll let you know tomorrow.

Because I just signed up, and I like the lady's choices, so I said so. Good stuff.

Congratulations on choosing a standard spear as your weapon of choice!
Seriously.
It is a 5 ft long, 6 pound weapon of choice in EVERY army in pre-gunpowder history!
This weapon has the wonderful features of:
A) Base damage equal to a Longsword (1D8).
B) Can be used in Melee (unlike Javelins).
C) Can be thrown at range (Unlike MOST melee weapons that do 1D8 damage).
D) Has the "Brace" weapon feature.
E) Costs only 2 GP base.
F) Was the weapon of choice to kill a dragon onscreen in a movie!
G) Was the primary weapon in the movie "300"!

Next, I applaud your listed build of Attributes and Feats.

I do prefer Fighters, myself, but, a Ranger is a better choice with the Mwangi Huntress concept.

I can offer only this:
Take Point Blank Shot, and Precise Shot, as well as the Vital Strike chain of feats. Vital Strike is usable both in melee and ranged combat. It is good with ANY attack (even unarmed, without even needing the Feat; Improved Unarmed Strike first!)

As she is NOT a Fighter, and will not qualify for Weapon Specialization, I can only re-state what so many have here have offered: Power Attack and Weapon Focus: Spear!!!

Tactics:

Use the "Brace" feature when you are being charged. If you hit at all; you will cause DOUBLE DAMAGE! If you crit when doing this, with a Spear (X 3 Damage) you will cause X 4 DAMAGE!!!

Good hunting!
