Background Traits Gnoll Killer: You grew up in rural Katapesh, in a region where gnoll activity was a fact of life. You killed your first gnoll at a young age when a group of gnoll slavers attacked your village, home, or caravan, and your hatred of gnolls has only grown since then. Something in your past fueled your hatred of gnolls even further— perhaps your family was slaughtered by gnolls, or maybe you even served a few harrowing weeks as a prisoner of a gnoll tribe before a miraculous escape. When you heard that Garavel was looking for brave men and women to aid in retaking the village of Kelmarane from a tribe of gnolls in the service of the notorious Carrion King, you knew you had to be part of the group, and signed up immediately. Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls and weapon damage rolls made against gnolls. If you are a barbarian and you’re fighting gnolls, your rage lasts 1 round longer than normal. Uwaga Highlander:You were born and raised in the western badlands and hills. Even if you were born in a city, you often had to travel the dangerous trails with your family. Predators, gnolls, and worse haunt the Highlands, and you’ve become something of an expert at evading them. Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Stealth checks. This trait bonus increases to +2 in hilly or rocky areas. Racial Traits Small: Halflings are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their Combat Maneuver Bonus and Combat Maneuver Defense, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks. Slow Speed: Halflings have a base speed of 20 feet. Fearless: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against fear. This bonus stacks with the bonus granted by halfling luck. Halfling Luck: Halflings receive a +1 racial bonus on all saving throws. Keen Senses: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception skill checks. Sure-Footed: Halflings receive a +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics and Climb skill checks. Weapon Familiarity: Halflings are proficient with slings and treat any weapon with the word “halfling” in its name as a martial weapon. Class Traits
A barbarian’s land speed is faster than the norm for her race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor, and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the barbarian’s speed because of any load carried or armor worn. This bonus stacks with any other bonuses to the barbarian's land speed. Rage (Ex) A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive. While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her Strength and Constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration. A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death. Uncanny Dodge: (Lvl 2) At 2nd level, a barbarian gains the ability to react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She cannot be caught flat-footed, nor does she lose her Dex bonus to AC if the attacker is invisible. She still loses her Dexterity bonus to Armor Class if immobilized. A barbarian with this ability can still lose her Dexterity bonus to Armor Class if an opponent successfully uses the feint action against her. Rage Power: Swift Foot

Many of the years of his enslavement are more clear. His master was a large man, fat, with heavy jowls and dark eyes. His hands were large, heavily calloused and painful. The boots he wore were made of strong leather and he would kick as easily as he'd punch or slap. Over the years Gander has tried very hard to forget that man and cherish other memories. The master's screams as the gnolls swept down from the hills. The bright red blood that splashed across the man's fat face. The way those cruel eyes had rolled as the teeth and claws ripped his skin. Gander remembered that in particular, almost fondly. The man had looked like a panicked horse. Fond memories to cling to so that he wouldn't think so much of his time held captive by the gnolls. The gnolls were cruel in a way the human master could never be. Gander still has some of the bite marks on his shoulder and the back of his left thigh just above the knee. They were a never-ending nightmare. His time amongst the gnolls -- he isn't sure how long it was -- should have carried the worst memories. But it was during that enslavement that he awakened the part of himself that carried him away. Now, when Gander thinks back to that time all he can recall are disjointed images of gnashing teeth, throaty growls and harsh voices. Everything else is awash in the red of rage. Sweet, all-consuming rage. The key to his strength, his escape, and his future. Even his escape lives in his memory as a sea of red, like blood, with flashes of clarity. The snarling visage of the gnoll he killed -- that was how he earned the slashing scars on his back -- the howls as they searched the night for him. The sticky, thick blood that had drawn the flies as he staggered through the rough hills for civilization. Fortunately, he'd found a stream before he reached the village so that he could clean himself. A farmstead held children's clothes he could wear. A purse on a man who was drowsing as his horse wandered slowly into town. The rage had served him well ever since. He'd always been good with the sling and the staff he'd constructed for himself later. It came naturally, like breathing. The axe was harder come by and even harder learned but he'd done it. It made such a sweet sound as it whistled through the air, and he liked the crunch as it struck the body and shattered the bones. Most of the time he is simply Gander Longstalks, warrior for hire. He didn't remember his parent's faces but he knew they wouldn't want him to walk in the beautiful red of his rage all the time. He tried to make sure the jobs he chose were good ones. He wouldn't be like the master, or the gnolls. Oh, he would kill every gnoll he could find and delight in it. But he wouldn't let his anger rule him. For now he is his own master. Build Notes:
