I'm planning on painting mini's with them once they have found a character they like (I don't want to expend the effort until they settle into a character(for the first campaign there is going to be a little bit of immunity)). I'm grabbing the beginner's box for the flip mat, and more pawns (Looks like it has extras of commonly used low level enemies).
I already have the Pathfinder Beginner Box, and the pawns/flip mat that come with it are really nice. I've always done theater of the mind, and I've found it makes it so that it is really easy to not be where you thought you are. So with the kids until they get some experience we're going to use a mat.
My oldest is going to be running Pathfinder soon, and I'm going to be running Starfinder because I love the idea of a Sci-Fi setting.
My daughter only picked her characters based on appearance and also loved using summon creature - so you should be good with what you got.
My son was a number-cruncher, so armory was a must.
We played when they were 10 years old I believe, for about 2 years, before they were sucked in to the world of digital gaming. But I bet they'll come back to it eventually, when they are older and wiser.

When I stopped gaming due to life happening Starfinder wasn't even announced... I don't think Distant Worlds was announced either. I'm a Sci-Fi junky so I am really looking forward to digging into this. I'm buying in sight unseen so I am trying to make sure I get all I need to play with a map for a while, but nothing more to start with. I was very unhappy with the way Star Wars played so I want to wet my feet before I jump all in. :-)
So I've been away from gaming for a long time. My kids are finally old enough to game with me. I'm currently planning on getting the Beginner Box, Core Rulebook, Alien Archive, and the Alien Archive Pawn Box. I am looking to be able to play at least until July on my first purchase. I am comfortable designing my own adventures. Are there any other must buy books upfront, or will that last us a while?
There was a VL for the Dayton area, but he stepped down. I moved from Dayton to Texas over a year ago, so my best recommendation is to attend the SOuthwest Ohio Gathering of Gamers at Epic Loot in Centerville and try to make contact with like minded gamers. They meet the first Sunday of each month from 1-5. There is a meetup page for the group.

Chocolate Truffle Cake:
set your oven to 350
you need
1 12-16 oz package of chocolate chips. Semisweet or bitter-sweet.
1/2 cup butter
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons flour
4 eggs separated
Grease an 8-inch springform pan and line with parchment.
Melt the chocolate. Stir in the flour and sugar. Using a spoon beat in the egg yolks 1 at a time until combined
In another bowl beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold into chocolate mixture, and pour batter into prepaired pan.
Bake 25 to 30 min in a 350 degree oven or until edges puff. Cool in pan on wire rack for 30 min remove sides of the pan and cool for at least 4 more hours.chill covered for 4 to 24 hours.
Cut into 12 slices and serve with whipped cream or chocolate mouse.
Another question I have is the ability increase. In Alpha it mentioned +1 to two stats at the indicated levels. In beta there was no mention as to what the ability increase is (just +1 to one stat or two or what). And now with the final product that is also not included that I have seen.
Anyone have any thoughts on this or maybe found the rule where I didn't?

I had called in 2 or 3 days after I had them suspended,and canceled the subscriptions. My bank withdrew the Overdraft fees. I have since been buying from my local game store since the subscriptions pop up on the most inconvenient days, and my bank charges me for pending transactions. Thanks for resolving this issue, and I hope you guy's have an excellent 2009.
The charge fell off of my account. Please make sure that it doesn't show back up on Monday. I still have the overdrafts that I'm going to talk to my bank about on Monday. If I can get them resolved and the charges don't show back up then everything is good as far as I'm concerned.
Somebody, anybody. I now have 4 $36.00 overdrafts thanks to this which I expect to be repaid... I canceled all of my subscriptions at the end of june beginning of july somewhere in there over the phone, and I am really getting pissed off with Paizo for doing this to me on Christmas.

I really love the Pathfinder subscription that I have. I appreciate the discounts, but I am going to have to cancel my subscription if you can't find a way to let me know at least a week before you authorize my account that money is going to be coming out of my account. The overdraft fees are not worth the discounts that I receive for the purchase of my pathfinder issues. Monthly I receive 2 to 3 overdraft fees from having Pathfinder be authorized with out my knowing that it will be done. I was told that it would only ship at the end of the month, and to day I have the authorization for July's shipment the week after I had my June shipment authorized. I live paycheck to paycheck, and the subscription discounts are the only reason that I can afford Pathfinder. Please find a way to let me know ahead of time that my account's going to be authorized, or I will have to cancel my subscription. Thanks Galuf.

I have found the orders and we can fix the payment method and get them sent out to you in one big package whenever you want. However, this is going to be two volumes of Pathfinder and three modules. Would you like me to send them all together immediately, or would you like me to hold them and bundle them with your next subscription shipment? It will be a pretty big hit to your card all at once, so I assume that you'd want to get them all together at once.

Hi I had some issues with being unemployed when these wrer supposed to ship, and updated the system with new payment information a few weeks ago. I had 2 orders that I updated a few days after that that have already shipped, but these three still show pending. Is there something wrong with them, or are you just waiting on stock? I agree. I think that the cover method described is overly complicated. For the most part I use the no cover, cover, improved cover, full cover method a more or less variant of the 3.0 rules. Unless it is in one of the rare times that I'm using a battle mat. I think that the cover rules should be simplified, and that an optional rule in the side bar should cover the rules that are currently in the 3.p book, but that's just my opinion...
I'll have to agree with the Earl Grey tea, but one you might try for the evenings is Honey vanilla Chamomile, and for the mornings Fast Lane Black tea. Both are available from Celestial Seasonings.
I really liked Chimes at Midnight and Quoth the Raven, but I'm going to have to go with Wolfgang Baur, Pathfinder #4, Fortress of the Stone Giants. I really like giants. :)

Does anyone have a good way to ink dice? I have a set of clear dice that have white numbers on them, and I want to have black numbers so I can see them. I've tried several different inks, and everything has just worn off after a day or 2. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I'm sorry if I came off sounding like that. I know that you are doing the best that you can. I'm not really pissed. I'm just impatient. Reading all that everybody's saying about Pathfinder and not being able to see it with my own eye's it's almost to much. But I know that my (im)patience will be rewarded eventually. Sorry for coming off as pissed, but that really isn't how I intended it to be taken.
