Born in Sargava to a Chelaxian trader and an escaped Mwangi slave, Sekele grew up in constant movement, persecuted for her mixed heritage and her mystical affinity for the wind and waves. As a girl, Sekele claimed she could hear the songs of the wind, and even claimed to have winds ("williwaws") that protected her personally. She was raised to revere Gozreh, but even amongst the faithful, she caused troubles by claiming that the winds told her--contrary to centuries of tradition--that Gozreh was "a she above" (ie. female in the air) and "a he below" (male in the sea).
Eventually, Sekele's talents for healing, for keeping food and water fresh, and for hearing the winds' shifting all made her valuable as a good luck charm aboard ships. This life suited her innate wanderlust, and she was content to move from ship to ship until a captain from the Shackles fell in love with her (after she helped save his vessel from a sudden tempest). When the captain got too close to Sekele, her williwaws became jealous, manifesting as violent gusts and flashes of lightning that nearly set the ship ablaze. Since then, although she still uses her beauty and charms to manoeuvre through the world of men, she keeps them at arm's length, for their safety as well as her own.
Recently, Sekele accepted an appointment that would land her in Cheliax, as she was curious about her father's culture. She has found it largely distasteful, and itches for the chance to set sail again, regardless of her destination.
