Burglar:
Careful Disarm (Ex) At 4th level, whenever a burglar attempts to disarm a trap using Disable Device, she does not spring the trap unless she fails by 10 or more. If she does set off a trap she was attempting to disarm, she adds double her trap sense bonus to avoid the trap. This ability replaces uncanny dodge. Distraction (Ex)
Cutpurse:
Measure the Mark (Ex) When a cutpurse makes a Sleight of Hand check to take something from a creature, the target makes its Perception check before the rogue makes her Sleight of Hand check, and the rogue knows the Perception check result. She can decide whether or not to make the check based on the results of the target’s Perception check. If the rogue elects not to make the check, she can make a Bluff check, opposed by the target’s Sense Motive, to prevent the target from noticing the attempt. This ability replaces trapfinding. Stab and Grab (Ex)

BACKGROUND - Life started rough for Francoix, He was born to a well to do merchant and his loving wife already in the midst of the troubles. It wasnt long after he was born that his father crossed a man with political connections to the then current regime in charge. He was luckily murdered by the mob before they could get him to the Bloody Jaine the local final blade. His mother with no where to turn found shelter with a merchant friend of her husband... only to learn he was a terrible man, A leader of thieves and brigands, the merchant guise only a cover for his true work. More afraid of what would happen if she tried to leave, she stayed telling herself that even his foul protections in the shadows would be safer for her child than the bloody revolutions about Galt. She died when the current regimes military sought to make an "example" of the thieves. His foster father survived, and after a year or so of letting Francoix mourn, he put him to work, picking pockets, and breaking into buildings. Their little band was constantly on the move now, the safety of the roads and their "merchant wagon train" Hiding their illicit activities. Unfortunately a doublecrosser in his wagon led them into an ambush on the way into a settlement in the River Kingsdoms and the young teenaged Francoix found himself without a family again. He was never one by this point for looking at his troubles and he survived on the streets of a town in the river kingdoms stealing change and food from merchants and fools. He thought he had a chance to strike it big when a well dressed old woman from one of the big houses came wandering down his alley, he had been so focused on her purse he didnt notice the tall tough guard trailing behind her. It was an easy grab, the purse but when he turned to run he ran right into the guardsman. Instead of killing him there or beating him good the old woman had the guard apprehend him and bring him about. He didnt realize it, but that turn of bad luck would be his saving grace in life. The old woman Ninette, was the cook of a displaced Galten Noble, Casal and his lovely wife Dela, Morgayne. Ninette took in him as an apprentice, educating him in both academic teachings and proffessional ones. It was during the academic teachings that he met the future love of his life Noemie. She too was a displaced orphan, the daughter of one of Dela Morgayne's friends whom died in the revolution and playmate/servant of their daughter. The teenaged boy never thought anything about being in a class with much younger children, nor did he think about them a whole lot when he finally got to stop going to the classes a few years later. At 16 the world is your oyster as they say and he found himself with the house guard imitating their training when he wasnt helping with all the cooking and baking and the like and time flew by. He was 21 when he next met Noemie again. There was a ball for the lord and ladies daughter, her coming of age party, and it was during the serving of the food that he ran across the young lady in waiting. He was instantly smitten with her soft smile, her golden hair, luckily for him, she had been smitten with him ever since the first time in class. He shifted from working with the guard to trying to impress her, not that she needed much impressing from him. It seemed that the burgeoning love was not to be however. Despite treating Noemie as nothing more than her daughters friend and lady in waiting. Lady Dela did not think that despite his new path in life that a former street urchin was anything of a match for her friends daughter and threatened to have Francoix taken away if it continued. . . despite this the young couple kept meeting in secret for almost a year until one of the newer servants caught them together. He threatened to expose them unless the couple paid him well or if Miss Noemie made it worth his while to keep quiet... In a panic and rage Francoix snapped. After a quick sharp fight, the servant lay dying there on the ground his life's blood on the blackmailers own dagger. Though ashamed, the young couple staged a break in and Noemie's word it quickly became gospel that some brigand had broken in, and the two servants, Francoix and the fallen blackmailer had fought him off. Despite throwing off any evidence to the culprit actually being Francoix the couple decided that perhaps they should go away... far far away to start their life together... and a few weeks later Francoix heard about the expidition being put together. It was like fate had shone down and opened the path to them. |
