"ah, yes, i suppose it might be nerve wracking.

"It could be." she nods. "add that to the fact they can explode anytime, and you've got a place people certianly are less likely to want to live around."

"Well... Ooh, there was that one time I visited a volcano, and that other where I wrestled a bear, or that time where I went up a mountain so high I could look down on the clouds."
Robin tilts her head, raising an eyebrow. "...what's a volcano?"

"it's a mountain, but full of rock so hot it's melted."

Flourence meanders behind Robin. "I was wandering the world and decided to settle here a while."

"Wow..." Robin whispers, eyes full of wonder. "It seems almost real." She brushes a hand against a wall. "How is stuff like this even possible? I mean, I know, magic, but this doesn't seem like magic..."

"can't say I know. I'm not a magical expert."

I think it's all verbal.

Robins begins wandering down the central hallway, gawking at the wondrous sights.

Flourence follows, as slowly as she can- thst is to say, she darts up, stops and waits, and repeats, as she glances all around, barely able to hold still. She's running about, poking all sorts of architecture.

Female Human (three-tailed)
Robin O'Meara wrote:

"Wow..." Robin whispers under her breath, although she looks slightly paler than usual at the view of the ground. She looks left, then right, then at the avenue, and clears her throat. "Well, it looks like we're here, although not actually here, so, um... might as well take a look around?"

Sorry for not posting earlier, my Campaigns tab broke.

Flourence makes a "you first" gesture, smiling softly.

Robin facepalms. "Um, inside. The inside of it. That's a thing, right? The firebirds came from somewhere."
The program flickers off and then a new one initiates. This time they are in an open area, like a balcony of some kind with an elaborate carved railing of some sort of patina covered metal. Looking over the edge reveals a large drop below. Clouds block some of the view, but between the wisps of cloud they can see the ground far below, mostly just patches of color. Behind them is a wide avenue leading between buildings of white stone. There were a lot of columns and arches and several buildings had elaborate tile mosaics worked on their sides, showing various scenes of flame.

Florence looks around, wide-eyed.

"I guess this is it."

Robin O'Meara wrote:
"Oh. Well, um... I've always wondered what the sun looks like. Looked like? You know. Ever since the firebirds came down."

"Computer, generate a replica of the sun."

a replica of the sun soon appears, floating above on a blank grassy plain.

Robin furrows her brow. "I've... Hm. I've always wondered what Agartha is going to look like in a few years. In my home village, we went from crossbows being the height of technology to steam power in the space of five years, and, well... what's that going to mean for the rest of the planet?"

Florence shrugs.

"I mean, the sim room might be able to take a guess?"

Female Human (three-tailed)
Robin O'Meara wrote:
"Um..." Robin's mind completely blanks. "I... um... well, what is there to do in here?"

"Pick an environment, or a creature, just about anything, and this room can make a duplicate of it."

Robin awkwardly waves back, then, sparing a tentative look at the door, walks in herself.

Robin O'Meara wrote:
Robin's eyes widen upon seeing Florence's rapid transit, then sighs and follows after her, going down rarely trod hallways and passing by the cafeteria no less than three times before she arrives at the SIM rooms.

Robin O'Meara wrote:

"Yeah. Sure.

Question: does Florence have any way to see the astral plane or spirit world?

Florence sprints off, moving inhumanly fast, from zero to over fifty mile per hour in a split second. She darts and weaves among students, often jumping and bouncing off walls to avoid them and landing right back on the ground, still running.

nope, Florence has no way of seeing magic.

Female Human (three-tailed)

"Meet you at the sim rooms then?"

Female Human (three-tailed)
Robin O'Meara wrote:
"Oh, right! The SIM rooms! I think I read about those on the guidebook. Might have. They also could've been talking about the magic classrooms. It was unclear. I'm not exactly acclimated to this kind of magic and technology, so most of it was gibberish to me until the words rearranged in front of my eyes which was rather freaky so I slammed it shut when that happened. Anyways, could you show me how those work?"

Florence does some warm up stretches.

"You know how to find your way around the school?"
she takes out a map from her pocket.

Robin stares awkwardly at Flourence for a moment. "So, um. What is there, to, well, do around here? Other than commiserate about horrible curses because apparently that's quite a common thing in Avalon oh dear I'm being insensitive aren't I nevermind. So what is there to do?"

"No, don't worry about it. I've noticed curses seem common here, too. I go on a lot of runs, or mess around in the sim room, most of the time."

Robin attempts to get up, stumbles, but eventually pushes herself back to her feet. "Woof, that one was a doozy!" she says, apparently completely unconcerned. "Those weird dizzy-sick-feeling-like-I'm-about-to-throw-up fits have been happening a few days since, well, y'know, I got kinda possessed but not really? Anyways, don't worry about it. It's normal."

flournce raises an eyebrow, and nods.

"That's, that's, that's, um, nice!" Robin says politely, completely befuddled, before tripping and falling away from her roommate, falling flat on the hardwood floor of her side. "I'm okay! Just... give me a minute."

Flourence fights her urge to help her up, and just stands.

Female Human (three-tailed)
Robin O'Meara wrote:
"Nice to meet you, Flourence." Robin is apparently completely oblivious to the appearance of the tails. "So, um, sorry if this is rude or something, but why is your half, um... a, well... swamp?"

"I like swamps." she says plainly, as if that explains everything.

"Um, it's supposed to help me readjust to society? I think? Being kidnapped by a bunch of crazy cultists for most of my early teenage years may have left psychological damage and I'm not making this sound better am I." Robin shakes her head and sighs. "I, I don't know either. I mean, again, I'm pretty safe as long as I'm paying attention and people stay a few feet away from me. I'm pretty nice, or at least I like to think, if you just ignore the endless rambling and I'll stop talking and let you go back to sleep now." Robin hangs her head, blushing in embarrassment.

Flourence stretches. "hmm." she eventually stands. "it'll make it a bit odd, but I guess I'll manage. My name is flourence." now that she's on her feet her nature starts to become apparent, rocking back and forth constantly, nearly unable to stand in one spot. "hmm?" she shivers, a moment, and quickly hides her fox tails away, hoping Robin didn't see them.

Robin chuckles awkwardly. "Hi. I'm Robin. Your new roommate. And could you do me a favor and chain me to my bed at night? Eh, sorry, shouldn't have led with that and oh god things are awkward I swear I have a valid explanation." She takes a deep breath. "Eheheheh. Anyways, seriously, I have this, well, I guess the easiest term for it would be demon that's stuck to my soul that's getting desperate for me to succumb to sin or some junk and is trying to make me stuff my face at every opportunity. Oh, and um, please. Five feet away at all times. And never, under any circumstances, touch me. It may sound silly, but this thing is super scary when it gets its hooks into other people. Oh, and, um, it's apparently deeply entrenched in my subconscious because the school made a pantry and kitchen for me and crap sorry for dropping all of this on you at once it's just I think it's essential information sorry I'll stop talking now."

Florence raises an eyebrow.

".... Uhm. So, why did the school put you in a room with a roommate when you're a potential hazard? Seems... Odd."
she's barely awake, at the moment.

Robin O'Meara wrote:
Robin double takes as soon as she shuts the door, and slowly reopens it and turns to face the half of the room that had somehow failed to escape her notice during the fifteen minutes with which she had grappled with the spiteful demon residing in her soul - and in the pit of her stomach. Tentatively, she crosses over into the swampy area, and leans down, clearing her throat. "Um, hey. Sorry, were you sleeping? It's hard for me to tell since I've never seen people sleep while sitting up before so sorry if I woke you up from your nap."

flournce opens an eye. "hmm? Oh, hello. It's fine, I was barely asleep anyway. And who might you be?"

Female Human (three-tailed)

on the other side of the room, is what looks to be a small swampy area, with a strange girl cross legged in the middle. Her half of the room is rsther barren, lacking... Almost anything. No bed, no shelves, no dresser, nothing. She's wearing the usual green and white uniform, Green shirt and pants with white sleeves. Her long brown hair is rather well maintained dispite much to maintain it with. She has her eyes closed, possibly meditating.

Female Human (three-tailed)

I'm not sure Florence has a roommate, if you'd like.

Though, flourence does have her half of the room resemble a literal swamp. So, that might be a bit confusing and unnerving.

Female Human (three-tailed)

I'm like, at most, a quarter kitsune.

I use kitsune ststs with a few modifiers.

I really don't mind there being other speedsters. I don't even have to have Andromeda be the best speedster. My thing was seeing that she was actually quite a bit slower than I'd realized. When the speeds were broken down in Chao Yin's post, I realized that she was actually quite slow for what I'd intended. It was more about the character not being able to do what she was supposed to do. She's supposed to be so fast that your eyes can't even track her when she runs. That's a lot faster than a race car. Basically I made an error in my calculations for speed when I made the character and I was disappointed that she wasn't what I intended. And now I have a template I can apply that gets her there so she can run like , well, yes, like Jessie Quick. :)

"faster then the eye can track" isn't a terribly clear goal.

1. That's pretty cool.

2. Eh, I was just going for superhero fast. I did actually have target numbers to hit, because some delightful person with too much time on their hands wrote an article detailing how fast the Flash would have to have been going to do some of the things he did. I knew I was under those numbers, but I thought I was closer to them than I actually turned out to be. I made mistakes converting between metric and standard. Shocking that. ;P

I was mostly just pleasantly suprized to find out you don't really have to be going that fast to get blurred movement. At five meters, 17.5 miles per hour to achieve a speed that's hard to focus on, growing more and more indistinct as speed increases- but the farther away, the less this happens.

Heck, you can see the effect by sticking your hand a few inches in front of your face and moving it up and down quickly, and try and tell exactly where it is.
Or better yet, have somone else do it, so you can't feel the hand and make your guess subconiously better as a result.

I am in a strangely good mood for just having learned about another human limitation >_>

That depends, is your character supposed to be all about being fast?

That was kinda Lyn's complaint, Andromeda is basically a female Flash(Jessie Quick?) and yet many of the other PCs are faster than her. Which, is kinda lame, imo.

A large part of it, but not all of it.

*shrug*

Female Human (three-tailed)

... I'm gonna have to actually use the other half of my getsalt to keep up, aren't I?

Female Human (three-tailed)

They're SU, as far as I know- AMF dispels, but nothing else.

Also, flourence has a base land speed of 150.
Still utterly wrecked by rakki.

Female Human (three-tailed)

Kevin would win, I'm guessing.

Female Human (three-tailed)

You could totally get roomed with Florence, lilly.

Course', her side of the room will largely resemble a swamp. Fun, no?

Heheh.

Female Human (three-tailed)

"Basic arcana, alchemy, PE, care of magical animals, heavy blades, and history."

Female Human (three-tailed)

"I see. Alright then."

Female Human (three-tailed)

Florence doesn't laugh, taking that at face value.
"Isn't PE required?"

Female Human (three-tailed)

I don't actally know what order my classes are in.

Female Human (three-tailed)

she starts fishing around for her schedule.

"Pleasurable and fun are two different things, for one. I'd much Pefer to wander and see new places then do that. Not to mention sustaining a relationship is really hard when you don't want to settle down anywhere for any amount of time."

flounce is mildly embarrassed at her pathetic number, but quickly decides she doesn't really care.

Female Human (three-tailed)

she's restricted to single-target Attacks. You almost certainly won.

Nate doesn't respond, at least, to you. His telepathy is limited.

she pauses.
