Quick question, should the companion's influence statblocks level up as their actual levels increase?

I'm planning a plane-hopping treasure-hunt sort of campaign, where the players go to each of the 9 outer planes in whatever order they choose to collect fragments of an artifact. Depending on which planes they leave for the end, a demigod from that plane will get the artifact fragment the PCs are looking for, which will put them in opposition to the party.

I'm looking for demigods specifically, so demon lords, archdevils, empyreal lords, etc.

Assuming that this completed artifact would give even a demigod the power boost they need to further their divine goals, which demigods of each alignment would make for the most interesting antagonists, given the opportunity?

The first time I had ever heard of Kingmaker was the computer game, and playing it is why I chose to run it for my group. Obviously, with the companion guide, some of the companions have been brought in. That has left me wondering what other parts of the CRPG might work better than what is printed in the book.

One of my first thoughts is how each of the arc villains gets fleshed out a bit more, like seeing a vision of the Stag Lord's past when you find his father's old hut or conversing with Vordakai through his familiar, or going into Nyrissa's dream. These are great opportunities to learn about the villains without the threat of missing them by rushing into combat.

Owlcat Kingmaker Spoiler:
I am also a sucker for a convoluted conspiracy or three, so I really like how a lot of things in the CRPG get tied back to some combination of King Irovetti, Nyrissa, and The Lantern King. For example, Tartuccio being a spy for Irovetti, who dies and is reincarnated by the Lantern King, who works with Hargulka to make a kingdom, which naturally serves Nyrissa's purposes.

So I'll pose the question to you all. What elements exclusive to the RPG would you adapt into your Kingmaker campaigns?
