We need a BASIC TERRAIN MULTIPACK 2!

Consisting of:

-snow/ice
-desert/sand
-sky/clouds (for aerial battles)
-plains/steppe or lava/fire

I second that motion! :)

YES!!!!

THIS IS THE MISSING 4TH PART OF THE "MEGA FLIP-MAT"!!!!

PART 1: WAREHOUSE
PART 2: PUB CRAWL
PART 3: RED LIGHT DISTRICT

THIS MAKES IT A MUST-HAVE FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS THE OTHER 3 (which are excellent)!

THX PAIZO!

Yahoooo!!

It seems like we've waited forever (or was it just me and Marco? ;-)...but the folks at Paizo listened and delivered!

Pure awesomeness! Thank you!

I understand that they try to not do "generic" ships since there are a few going about already...however these are a little whacky and with limited replayability, due to a very unique set up to each.

They are in my opinion, fat and very non evocative of what I'd expect from a warship of some of Golarion's sea going nations. I appreciate the imagination in trying to make something different instead of a 1600s warship though.

I however have no previous experience from the flit mat products, so if someone would be kind enough to point at some of the merits I'd welcome it.

Well, given the fact that you are playing in a fantasy world, I think that the slightly "whacky" design works quite well if you use these ships as non-human warships. The previous flip mat/map packs work well representing all sorts of human sea going vessels, and I find that these two designs can work very well if you use the massive spikey one as say, a Hobgoblin Raider and the smooth trimaran as an Elven Corsair.

Oh, the possibilities...! :-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I guess the preview images answer the question as to whether this map links up to the aforementioned city set...and it's a resounding "NO". (BOOOOO!)

It really seems like a wasted opportunity, all the more-so since this would have worked very well with only relatively minor adjustments to the existing (and might I add beautiful) artwork on one side of the map. (Shifting the orientation of the winding canal to make it divide the map horizontally instead of vertically and then adjusting the edges of the map to tile with the other two maps.) A pity...

Still gonna buy it though! Who knows, maybe the "Slum Quarter Alleys" map pack will contain appropriate connecting tiles...

Nice! Could one side of this map actually be the missing puzzle piece to the Warehouse + Pub Crawl + Red Light District MEGA MAP? That would be sooooo awesome! :)

I agree with you.

It could be.
I guess we will have to wait for the final image/product description...

I guess we are both anxiously awaiting those images then. Hopefully the Powers That Be that gave the "go ahead" for this one were thinking along the same lines as us! :-)

I second that motion please! :-)

I'm really hoping one of these sides will be a Storm or Cloud Giant Lair (Undersea Cavern or Cloud castle). There are several gaming maps/tiles out there that can make passable Hill, Stone, Frost or Fire Giant lairs, but none for the more exotic giant types. (Maybe if I said pretty please?) :-)

I was wondering what "elemental nodes" are myself. They look pretty cool though!

You could probably do something like that for free under the Community Use Policy, but you couldn't charge for it or earn a profit.
Thanks for the tip Liz. I wouldn't mind doing so, but to do a great job, I would need to know the font used for the titling and have a flattened background template file to lay into place as my shell. Otherwise, folks would have to content themselves with a lesser quality scanned version of it. I guess it would depend on the overall community interest.
Both policies prohibit making any commercial or creative endeavor to be a 100% imitation of our trade dress (how our products look). I do know that Saber is very similar to the font used in the logo (it was used in the Wayfinder logo, for example), but again, you can't make your products look like ours (the specific terms are under the Usage Requirements for the Community Use Policy).

DOH! My bad for not reading the entire C.U.P. before replying to your comment. I didn't realize that it was against policy to replicate the look & feel of your packaging if it was not for profit. Thanks for pointing that out to me. :-)

I finally found 8.5"x11" 2-pocket sheets that should work. They've got a fancy name and lid flaps, but I haven't been able to find any plain old regular ones.

Thanks Don...patience is indeed a virtue! :-)

You guys do realize that these maps have full adventures in this book, right?:

Thornkeep

It seems like that would cover your need for an encounter key...

Actually, I did realize that Eric, but thanks. :-)

I was more making a generic comment regarding the flip mats that detail very specific environments. (This applies to map packs as well).

I agree with Belnor, Even if it were a pdf you could print.

It shouldn't be that hard for somebody other than Paizo to create a PDF slipcover for each of the older maps. It wouldn't be that much harder to create a fillable PDF.

I don't have the right software myself at present, but that might change in the next couple of weeks.

I'm a graphic designer and would be willing to custom create some PDF slipcover files based on the existing templates. I assume that I would have to contact someone at Paizo for permission to offer such a service?

Like Ryan, I would also greatly appreciate the occasional map key or suggested encounter text for flip mats that are of such a specific nature. There has been at least one other instance of a (dungeon-style) map where similar questions arose regarding connecting staircases and corridors that span across two sides of a map. There was a suggestion on the Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Battlefield thread regarding the possibility of printing black and white keys or (player developed)encounters on the inside of the new flip-mat cover sleeves that could be used for just such assists. Could be interesting...

I second Samurai's proposal and cost-saving suggestions. Brilliant ideas! I for one could use a springboard for ideas from time to time when trying to come up with appropriate encounters for some of the more specific looking flip-mats (and map packs for that matter). Here's hoping... :-)

This is the Index Card File I got to store mine.

Thanks for the link Geistlinger, that looks like the boxes that I am presently using. I'm still having trouble finding those special page protectors. I found some that were sized 5" x 8", but not a letter sized sheet with two pockets like Cyria described above. I really like the idea of being able to see 4 tiles at a time as you turn to a new 2 page spread in your binder. Oh well, the quest continues...

Lots of great ideas! I use a couple of 5"x8" storage boxes to store my map packs as well (and they work great)...but I'm very interested in trying a plastic page-protector binder with 2-up 5" x 8" pockets like the one Cyria mentioned previously. I'm having a really hard time finding such a beast though. Can anyone help (...Cyria?)
