About Father Rathbone

background:

As the 3rd and last son of the minor family Van Rasthaust in Westcrown, it was his duty to join the church and follow the Lord Asmodeus and progress in the church to use its power to aid his brothers Harnrick and Chorgan. So from a young age his family placed him in the care of the Church of Asmodeus. Here he studied under their tutorage, including a study of the devils own sticks of fire, their creation and use. His interest in these strange weapons, allowed him to use the holy firearm of the church, in its religious ceremony of death to punish those who reneged on their contracts with holy orders. The fire spitting out the metal ball of termination.

So well has Rathbone served Asmodeus, he was given as special blessing and grace, to dig the truth out of those who have tried to default on their contract. Being able to know the truth, despite the lies a petitioner might try and use. It was this special quality that has seen the church send him to gain influence with the higher nobility of Westcrown, of House Jeggare. Employed by the house ostensibly to educate the Lady Valeria in religion and nobility, he is really to report back to her parents ensuring that she does not bring shame on the House. Putting a stop to any illicit relationships with those not of her status.

Now that the House has come to an arrangement with the Andorans, Father Rathbone has been sent ahead.

Alternatively he could be Brother Grist, same background just a little different in the final few weeks/days.
