Today marks the 52nd anniversary of the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper in 1959. This went on to inspire Don Mclean to write American Pie.

Just a little historical tidbit.

Hello all! i'm a gamer in fort collins colorado trying to start up another game/group! I currently have 2 people lined up for a weekly pathfinder game and am looking to add 2-3 more.

If your in the area and are interested please let me know!

In a small cozy cabin lit by a fire place an old man rests in a simple chair, surrounding him on the floor is a gathering of small children. They listen to his every word, lost in fascination as he tells story after story. "Very well children, time for one more story then you are off to bed! Now lets see what story should be told..." the old man spoke softly. The children began shouting the names of their favorite stories when a voice from the back of the room carries over.

"Father, tell them a story about the will of the gods, a story of the strength of men, you know the one, after all it was not that long ago.." said a middle aged man with grey just creeping into his hair.

The old man smiled and looked lost in thought for a moment then he began to talk

"It is a quiet winter morning, as the sun rises to light up the world. Drifting slowly snow flakes land upon the ruins of what was once a great church, though now is barely recognizable ruins. Walls have crumbled, ceiling has caved in, and all of its fine trappings and relics long since taken. However this place emits a serene feeling to those who have visited, and superstition whispers that is a sacred and protected place....

Around the ruins the freshly fallen snow is all but undisturbed except by the foot prints of an occassional small animal. This scene could be something like a painting, beautiful...picturesque. Perhaps even something you would think of with a small nostalgic smile, so it is fitting that this is where our story begins." He said as the children grew silent and listened.

"It was here that the heroes of our story first met, each following a call they couldn't ignore.."

You have all found your messages, in your dreams, your prayers, through rumor, mentor, or by research. These have all brought you to this old set of church ruins in the southern part of Orensden. You knew that you were to be here at the onset of the winter solstice, there you would find answers.

You knew that you were supposed to arrive sometime within a week of the solstice, decide when you get here, and by what means of travel, feel free to do any knowledge, perception, or what ever checks you like.

After running so many games at various different levels, I've found it interesting how differently people imagine their characters being depending on their levels.

For example, I've seen first level characters want to be famous, while 15th level characters be an unknown nobody coming out of no where.

I picture levels 1-3 as being like an average joe that is doing something crazy or brave.

4-6 as becoming akin to a local celebrity/hero

7-9 you start handling exploits that cover a whole state or province

10-13 you being helped out a whole kingdom
14-17 your saving entire continents
and finaly 18-20 your saving the world.

what are some of your thoughts?

here it is, thought i'd get it up so you can start with further questions and your character ideas.

so i am looking for 6-7 players for a higher level epic feel campaign. Here are the campaign aspects

characters: 13th level
wealth: standard wealth for 13th level characters
stats: going a little different, starting stats will be 15,14,13,12,11,10
Alignment: This is a heroic campaign, so I'd really prefer Good alignments, or Neutral leaning more towards good/can't let evil just happen.

Back Story: You are a hero of the realm, famous for your exploits, one night you get a dream from either:
your god
your dead parent/mentor/significant person
a good outsider
a forest spirit
"written in the stars"
or dreamed about a written message

Telling you to go to this old cathedral in an abandoned city ruins far off from the beaten path.

Campaign world: my own creation, but all things typically Golorian are in there i.e. gods, races, etc.

Ask away on questions.

It is a very pleasant and warm summer day as the sun begins to fade from the sky. Be it by chance or design you have all found yourselves at the small town of Tesserin for the end of the summer festival. The folk of this town seem quite merry as the days entertainment went on, traditional songs, drinking, and the raffle to see who would get the be with one of the few young women for the night.

The sky is a vivid painting of colors as you notice a caravan of merchants begin to pull into town. Four wagons in all, people winding down from the festival take immediate notice and the more curious begin to migrate towards the wagons.

Here is the discussion forum for my game, the fires of fate!

Okay so I think I want to run a fun and simple play by post campaign! I will want 5 players at most, in a very swash buckling adventure type of game, ie combats will be fun and fast, but not the main focus. More focus will be on the adventure and players (i like character development!)

I'm putting the story together but wanted to get players on board and get their characters ready so that I can consider them while finishing things up.

rules:

I will be posting during breaks at work and 1-3 times during the evening (mountain time), so as long as you can post at least 1-3 times a day i'll be happy!

I couldn't decide between a 15 or 20 point buy, so i'm going to do a 18 point buy! (yeah i know i'm weird)

I'd like you to stick to material in the Core rule book and the Advance Players guide, but if you want to use something else, we can talk about it!

Level 1 characters, we will discuss items, wealth and etc while building your character!

what to expect:
I believe fun trumps rules any day and am a very lenient dm (however try to abuse this and you will be sleeping with the pigs!), though I know the rules and number better than most, so if you want a math war i have a good chance of winning lol.

encounters designed for the adventuring party, if we have 5 rogues, i'm going to make an encounter that is challenging and fun for 5 rogues. so play what you want and is fun!

alot of character depth! I will have questions for you to answer about your character.

above else please ask me any questions!

So I've read alot on these forums about this and that and this is my question...

What are some of the more interesting/fun/funny characters you've done?

I made a bar room brawler, rogue/fighter with throw anything, catch off guard, two weapon fighting, and about any other improvied weapon feat i could get.

funniest moment? Hitting two guys with a table using power attack, since it was an improvised weapon and the opponents were unarmed, they were flat footed to me so I got to add my sneak attack damage. Finished off the pair with a two weapon fighting full round attack with beer mugs.
