"I don't like being followed," Varanog adds while glancing furtively behind him, "We should lose him!"

Varanog looks around with interest at the new surroundings.

Varanog takes the opportunity to create a fiery trap rune at the top of the pit. Square indicated on map. He then scurries away out of sight.

Hats will stay where he is at for now.

Varanog heads over to the side of the pit and sends a magic missile barrage at the target.

Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8

Skyrack will heal those hurt with her wand and looks of the bodies have something interesting.

I think Hats is down 6 hp.

Once Hats gets closer its tentacles emerges from the muck and snatches the leader in its grasp!

Actually it looks like the enemy is in melee with Skyrank, not Varanog.

Varanog swiftly moves through the passage towards the melee. Double Move.

Hats crawls into the muck-filled pool, careful to make sure its puppets stay pristine and clean. Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 +8 if this is its lair.

Seeing the next wave of invaders coming from the same area Varanog slinks off to cut off their escape route.

Double move.

Varanog waves for Hats to hide in the pool, "You waits there for more tasty snacks Hats" He then retreats back to the corridor and awaits the next wave...

Yes of course!" Varanog follows behind Athrax then looses a volley of magical darts at the guard who struck Hats!

Move, and magic missile the first guard: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5

Hats shudders in pain, "You almost made me drop my hat!" he says as he targets the guard who wounded him!

Hats smiles at the scout as it shambles forward towards him, "Do you like my hat? Did you want a closer look?" A tentacle reaches out to snag the poor scout!

Varanog stealthily moves out into the corridor quietly whispering an activation word for his wand, much quieter than usual. "Need to make sure we not get caught in the middle here!"

Move and activate Wand of Mage Armor.

Yeah apparently the portal was...somewhere else. Oops.

Hats Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

I placed all four PCs on the map and also the arrow plus magic traps. Let me know what other traps you want to place and I can place/move them for you.

GM Redelia: Can you place Hats on the map in the green pool room? I couldn't find his token sorry.

OKay added the traps to the bigger map, along with Varanog's token. Also here is a roll for the Fireball trap (highlighted in orange): Craft Traps: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Varanog's eyes gleam with excitement, "Amateurs. I can create magic trap that goes BOOM! Big Fireball ya know!"

Varanog's Craft trap is only +9 but he can automatically create up to six magical trap runes each in a 5' square. Check his character profile for more details. He can also create an Alarm Spell trap and tie the scroll of Fireball he carries with it. DC for that spell is pretty high though.

GM Redelia: I don't suppose I could use that last roll for his Craft Traps check?

"Yes, my magic has proven me invincible!" Varanog crows as he holds his staff, err rod aloft. "Magic portal be trouble here...let me check it out..."

Varanog steps back, his eyes gleaming with an unholy glee as he sends several fiery rays into the yellow vanguard!

Scorching Ray ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Fire damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 1) = 16

Varanog is clearly not enjoying this, but he does try to touch the creature in front of him again.

Melee touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
negative energy: 1d6 ⇒ 2 and 1 STR dam unless Fort save DC 13 made.

Varanog yelps "Too close to me, back off!" He grabe his wand and proceeds to touch the creature activating its power!

"Yes, Hats! I be...uhh...fine. Just checking in case someone be sneaking up on us...some who be using magicks ya know...can't be too careful!" Varanog replies as he hastily returns to the fray.

"AAAIIIEEEE!!" Varanog shrieks in a piteous wail as he drops his precious wand and turns to flee the scene, managing to make it back to the ladder before jumping down to the ground below!

Acrobatics to avoid falling damage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Varanog proceeds cautiously along the tunnel and when Fazgyn jerks up in surprise he jumps back in reaction. "Trouble!" he yelps as he fumbles for his protective wand, activating it for the extra protection.

Activate Wand of Mage Armor (19 charges left).

Varanog peers up at the scaffolding. "I not trust this shoddy contraption here," pointing to the opening at the top, "Yet that be where the humans are I bet!"

Cast Detect Magic at the scaffolding. Can't be too paranoid here!

"Sorry Hats, me already ate and can't think on full stomach!" Varanog thinks quickly here.

"Good...GOOD! Well done here Fazgyn!"

Varanog winces as the otyugh splashes into the sewer water but calls out, "What's you find Hats? Can you show us real quick-like?"

"This be's a good spot to place my special marks yes?" Varanog's eyes gleam in anticipation. I wonder if I could just singe him a little...

Magic item? I am a little confused here. The only hat Varanog wears is the silver crown listed on his char sheet, and it is not magical.

"M..m..m...my crown?" Varanog stutters in reply.

Varanog eyes widen in excitement before narrowing in cunning. Magic portal...could be just what I need...

"What dis portal do anyway? Do not tell lie here else I feed you to Hats!"

GM Auke: Don't worry about Varanog's comments here, he is quite obviously a tad...unhinged, he he.
