Background:
Born in Kyonin nearly 150 years ago, Ellyrion was never interested in studying swordplay or archery. His interests lay in the study of the arcane. Over the years his studies also included ancient ruins and underground civilizations. He has traveled Avistan in search of libraries with books about Azlant and Thassilon. Now, books are not enough, Ellyrion has begun searching for Azlanti and Thassilonian site to explore in order to learn more. Of late he has been working for Falandra Nolm at the Bindery while trying to find someone foolish enterprising enough to explore the Azlanti ruins of Echo Wood, and perhaps even the Emerald Spire.
Appearance:
At six and a half feet tall and 120 pounds, Ellyrion is fairly tall and gaunt. His plain brown hair is pulled back into a ponytail. His clothing is plain and unassuming.
Here is a more finalized version of Demon Lurking's character. Everything has been added to the profile.
DM:
I'd picked Azlanti as a language of scholars, forgetting that Varisian made more sense for the backstory. Unfortunately other than Azlanti and Thassilonian, the rest of the languages are the ones offered to Elves as starting languages. Since Thassilonian comes from the Campaign Trait, Azlanti is getting changed to Varisian.
Thank you for this opportunity. Good luck to all the submissions.
Well, I'm in Kaelin's Midnight Mirror game, so if that's still going by then, we should be easy to spot. I'm looking forward to continuing in the new year. So far this has been fun.
Ellyrion listens to price Brambleson's words and reaches a hand to the tattoo on his arm that represents the Tangled Briar. Unsure if the time was right, but certain that missing the moment was worse than being early, he concentrates on the symbol.
"Have you ever been outside your Briar? Or does your home keep you here?"
With a bow and a flourish Ellyrion dismisses his spell and the glow of his blade fades. "It was good to match blades with one of your skill. Well fought, I thank you." Ellyrion grins at his opponent. "We thank you for this Token. Is there anything you can reveal about this place? It is quite unfamiliar to me."
Immediate action to attempt to parry; Move action to Acrobatic leap; Standard action to attack.
If that manages to hit, he takes 1 point of ongoing acid damage each round for 2 rounds and needs to make a DC 16 Fort save or be sickened while taking that damage.
As the rabbit's blade leaves a small scratch of blood, Ellyrion stumbles back a step when Brambleson kicks off of his chest. Gaining a new look of concentration, Ellyrion makes a few complex gestures with his free hand and speaks a few words. "地球授予我觸摸你的刺!"
Draconic:
"Earth grant my touch your sting!"
As he finishes, his blade begins to glow with a sickly green color. Ellyrion once again leaps into the air to land beside the rabbit, his elemental blade whipping down as he lands.
Standard action to cast elemental touch (acid); Move action to Acrobatic leap; Free action to complete Spellstrike.
Less luck with the dicebot today.
If that manages to hit, he takes 1 point of ongoing acid damage each round for 2 rounds and needs to make a DC 16 Fort save or be sickened while taking that damage.
Spell lasts 7 rounds.
Ellyrion has the Opportune Parry and Riposte Deed. I'm not sure how to use that here. Should I just roll an extra attack (or two)? It's basically taking an AoO to make a Melee attack miss, followed by an immediate action attack if the parry succeeds.
He concentrates for a moment, channeling his arcane energies.
Acrobatics:1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37
Then he takes a few steps forward, then leaps through the air after the rabbit.. With a last moment flip and lunge he lands beside Brambleson, blade flashing toward the rabbit.
"And now the dance begins. Where is your Kingdom, prince Brambleson?" Ellyrion watches the rabbit's broken blade and prepares to parry the next incoming attack.
Immediate action to parry and reposte; Swift action to grant a+2 enhancement bonus to the rapier; Move action to Acrobatic leap; Standard action to attack
There's also the fact that that wagon wheel may not make the best "blade". ;)
Tariel might also have been an option, but he hasn't posted anywhere I can find since the beginning of the month.
Hearing the offered challenge, Ellyrion steps forward with a quiet word over his shoulder. "This is what I do."
He turns to the royal rabbit and offers a deep bow. "My good sir, I will face you if need be. What will be the rules of this duel? A straight matching of blades, or a full test of our abilities?"
"I hope it's the latter. It's been a while since I really let loose, but I do not want to insult royalty by using magic if would be dishonorable to do so."
Ellyrion looks across the clearing and then at the tattoos on his own arms. Then at the tattoos of his companions. And in a hushed tone nudges Ghost-Breath. "Hey, Ghost, I think we may have found your Rabbit Prince. But I don't know what's up with the house, any ideas?"
He turns to Kaelin and continues, "Let's hope he doesn't have a bottomless warren, eh?" He says with a wide grin.
"And interesting list, I wonder what it all means."
"Oh, sorry for being rude, I never introduced myself. I'd blame the strange awakening, or my missing companion, but those are only excuses."
He makes another sweeping bow, this time encompassing everyone.
"I am known as Ellyrion Lanethriellyn, swordsman extraordinaire and part time mage. I put myself at your disposal." He looks down at the pint sized blade in his hand and continues sheepishly. "Although I'm not sure exactly how useful I'll be with this, at least it's better than nothing. He gives Kaelin's wagon wheel a strange look.
I present to you Ellyrion Lanethriellyn, elven magus (bladebound, kensai) 7/swashbuckler (inspired blade) 3, for your consideration.
I am a huge fan of puzzles, riddles, mysteries, and enigmas.
I'm not sure how much background you want. This character is based on an elven bladesinger I played for several years back in 2nd edition. Oddly he adventured with a centaur fighter and a dwarven fighter/thief (they didn't call them rogues back then).
Also, not sure how you would like to handle the Black Blade since we aren't supposed to roll up the character with any equipment.
Ellyrion Lanethriellyn was born in Varisia nearly 150 years ago. This blond haired, deep blue eyed elf stands just over six and a half feet tall when he is not hunched under a heavily loaded backpack. His youth was not the usual elven upbringing. Yes, he still learned swordplay and sorcery as most elves, but not in some treebound settlement. His family had become enamored of the Varisian nomadic lifestyle. He grew up traveling the wilds of Varisia. With regular visits to Riddleport, Magnimar, and Korvosa for major supplies, he would procure any book of learning he could get his hands on.
His family’s caravan would pass through much of the Varisian wilds, but Ellyrion would constantly yearn for more knowledge and adventure. When he was able he left the caravan and went in search of knowledge anywhere. After several decades of searching rumors, ruins, caves, forests, etc. he had gained some measure of his desired knowledge. At the age of 125 he began teaching in the Wise Quarter of Absalom. He specialized in history and the arcane. He would frequently take “sabbaticals” where he would go on an expedition to some ruin or another.
He frequently wound up being just behind an Aspis agent looking for the same artifact or secret. Constantly behind, (usually due to having fewer resources) Ellyrion is constantly frustrated that the money behind the Aspis Consortium gets them to historical items and knowledge that they then simply sell for more money. He feels that the knowledge gained by these expeditions should be given freely to those who desire it, not locked in some noble’s collection. His latest journey has had him racing against rumors of Aspis activity in Bloodcove.
When he arrived in Mwangi he heard that Dagen Bandrift was returning to the Expanse in search of more wealth and treasure. Hoping to finally keep the Aspis Consortium from gaining the upper hand, Ellyrion will do anything he can to gain a spot in Bandrift’s party.
Known Associates:
Cedradel Lanethriellyn (male CG elf bard (Archeologist)); Ellyrion's father, he still travels the Varisian wilds with a caravan of similar minded elves. Always searching for knowledge of the ancient Thassilonians.
Anderil Morrson (male LE human rogue/aspis agent); Always one step ahead, Anderil is the bane of Ellyrion's existence. He has repeatedly gotten to important discoveries before Ellyrion.
Grunyar Deepeye (male NG dwarf arcanist (Elemental Master(earth))); Grunyar is one of Ellyrion's oldest friends. Currently a teacher at the Arcanamirium in Absalom.
Why I want to join this game:
I have been gaming for decades, lately I have been primarily GM. I love the adventurous feel of Pathfinder and the idea of exploration of jungle and ruins. This character is drawn from the concepts of Indiana Jones and Allan Quatermain. I know I don't have much PbP experience, but I look forward to this opportunity.
