![]() I'm sorry- I was convinced I had posted for this round already... Unable to safely employ his bombs in such tight quarters, Elliomander loads a cartridge and fires it at the closest lamprey.

![]() Standing in the hallway, Elliomander pulls up the front of his shirt to cover his nose against the smell. He crouches slightly and leans toward the wall to get the clearest shot possible at the heap Gar prods. readying an action to shot if anything pops out of the pile ![]()

![]() Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 its on fire and takes 1d6 ⇒ 6 burn damage Elliomander coughs and then shakes off the daze that started to creep in with the spores. Acting quickly he fires off another charged round.

![]() Elliomander takes one more step to the side to get a clear line of fire, then he charges a round and fires at the creatures with a pair of thunderous booms.

![]() Elliomander watches as Gar blesses himself. hmm... I've been so frugal with my extracts that I've barely used them... if he's certain we're close to encountering something this would seem a good opportunity... He draws a small glass vial and imbibes its contents (cats grace extract) before continuing to follow behind and to the side of the inquisitor. ![]()

![]() "I can see in the dark..." Elliomander offers. "I'm going to poke around a little bit while you look around here..." With that he draws his cloak and disappears out of the light. He quietly makes his way a hundred and twenty feet down the tunnel before returning to the group. Along the way he searches for turns, more alcoves, and any hidden doors (or traps).

![]() we can take a detour into the sewers right now if people want but, for the record, my suggestion was just to see how common it was to find these entrances near murder scenes "Oh, heading straight in are we?" Elliomander asks as Vera draws the key. He draws his trusty firearm and gently blows across the barrels to get rid of any dust that might have settled inside. ![]()
Fighter/Investigator [gestalt] 1
![]() Elliomander quietly smirks upon hearing that even Amelia failed to notice that he had gone snooping as well. "Which route are we taking to the next address?" he asks as they leave, "if we're traveling near any of the old crime scenes we could quickly look around just to see if there are any of the old sewer entrances nearby..." knowledge(local): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

Fighter/Investigator [gestalt] 1
![]() Elliomander seems distracted throughout the conversation, though he makes it a point not to be distracting. I don't like this one bit... only one way in or out, and that rickety at best... and exposed... if our hidden adversary wanted to take another shot at us this wouldn't be a half bad place to do it... As the others work to grease the proverbial wheels with Bill the gunman quietly checks the apartment for mirrors. stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26

![]() Elliomander finally looks up from the empty bowl that had been home to his delightfully warm stew. "We ought to look around the areas where we know attacks happened to see if there are sewer entrances nearby," he offers "though I suppose we could follow up with the customers first- the watch is more likely to catch on to that one, if we want to beat them to it..." After savoring another sip of his hot cider he tentatively adds, "Should we, uh, report to someone that we saw Muncy disappear into the Between?" ![]()
Fighter/Investigator [gestalt] 1
![]() "Agreed," Elliomander mutters turning towards the tavern. When they arrive he orders a hot bowl of stew and a warm tankard of mulled cider. "So..." he continues after a few swings of his drink, "the Between is a real place, eh? That casts some new light on our investigation..." ![]()
Fighter/Investigator [gestalt] 1
![]() its almost as though we shouldn't have rushed into an unknown world and then trecked for hours through falling, blowing snow away from the portal home... Elliomander grits his teeth. "We don't know anything about this place..." he responds, "there's a slim chance it could actually be safe. And if it's not then the idea of luring our hunters into someone else's trap has merit..." As Gar starts to move, he moves towards the music too. ![]()
Fighter/Investigator [gestalt] 1
![]() "That seems like a terrible plan," Elliomander replies, "if we stay here that mysterious figure gets to send everything he's got at us with the order and pace he likes... if we have to fight we should become the hunters rather than the prey. If we pursue the man with the horn we might be able to avoid some of his beasts, and if we kill him it should end the hunt." ![]()
Fighter/Investigator [gestalt] 1
![]() "There's more coming..." Elliomander states, knowing that everyone else can hear it as well, "we need to keep moving. We have to decide now, quickly, do we flee and look for a place to hide or make a stand, or do we head for the whoever blows the horn? That seems more dangerous, but it may also be the only way to stop it from calling more hounds..." ![]()

![]() As someone who GMs PbPs also, I struggle with those kinds of posts... saying something and doing something aren't the same. Truthfully, I probably wait too long for someone to post an action a lot of the time but there's like a danger of posting as if someone had acted (and got themself in trouble) when all the did was say 'we should _______'. Probably if any of us had posted something like "Elliomander follows Amelia to her defensible position then turns and readies a shot" we would have had the advantage (although, then I would have been forcing you into an action you never said you took). I believe PbP really need to be player-driven as much as possible and that requires that we actually declare actions (which I'm not sure any of us really did in this case). I appreciate that sometimes we need time to discuss (and I still wish someone had answered Elliomander and handed him a bow- I probably could have taken out at least 2-3 dogs by single moving and shooting every round until they got to us) but we went all weekend without anyone taking an actual action so getting set upon is what we get. ![]()
Fighter/Investigator [gestalt] 1
![]() The rules aren't always 100% logical, but they're the rules. I think it's largely to represent the slight edge that whichever side dictates the terms of engagement receives (which is true to real life- there's a benefit to making the first move). In this case, it's really our own fault- none of us made a definitive combat action so they get the advantage. We could have posted 'I stand and shoot' or 'I ready an action to attack when they get close enough' or 'we run until we find a natural choke point and then form up behind Gar' or any of a ton more things that would have constituted us being ready but we didn't. ![]()

![]() Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Elliomander steps back from the singed dog attacking him, charges another cartridge and fires at it. ranged touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
damm... I'm running low on bombs... we need to find somewhere to hide soon... ![]()

![]() You didn't mention distance... if they're more than 30' away I'll wait to pull the trigger until they hit the 30' mark. "Sh!t," Elliomander mumbles between labored gulps of air. Without pausing to think he draws a vial of alchemists fire with his tail swift, infuses it into a cartridge move, charges it, and fires standard at whichever dog will allow the wide splash to hit two or three other dogs...

![]() Amelia, I believe you also count as being protected from the cold by your racial cold resistance (unless you took some ability that trades away that resistance?) "I have things we can use to start a fire, if we have to stop and seek shelter for the night," Elliomander offers as Gar shivers. "For now, we need to figure out what our next step is... we came chasing Muncy and that's a dead end now. We could look for what killed him, we could explore and try to learn more about what's crossing over from here and why, or we could try to find our way back before we're completely, hopelessly lost and then come back with some warmer clothes and whatnot." ![]()

![]() Elliomander grimaces a bit at the sight of the spongy gray child latched on to Vera. best not to risk a bomb so close to those two in these winds... Loading a normal cartridge, he takes aim at the bloody-mouthed creature and fires.
editted to remove penalty for firing into melee- I have precise shot. ![]()

![]() Elliomander smirks as he feels Mama's magic creep in. He moves up to within thirty feet of the densest grouping, charges a cartridge and fires it at the child in the center of the cluster...
