About Elirious Alothian
Backstory:
"I was born in Mivon to a wandering Elf maiden named Ereluna Silverstring and Riant Alothian a would be Alothi Sword Lord. Apparently she stole his hart by shooting it as he was about to, slinging the deer across he saddle and riding away, my father followed and caught her I suppose. But she left before I could remember, pretty much as soon as I popped out if you believe my father's bitter complaints - I would wager good coin he stifled her.
I grew up with my rigid father and his rules upon rules, with rules about those rules, and determination to make me practice the sword until my fingers were calloused and bleeding. It was awful, tedious and no kind of life for a creative soul like me, so at twelve I ran away from home and never looked back - I do occasionally send a letter to dear old dad.
I made my way to Gralton where after being thoroughly mugged I convinced my young aggressors to take me as part of their gang. Within a year The Rag Boys had become Elirious's Rag Boys and I was on my way to a promising career as a Crime Lord.
Then my absentee mother showed up, beat me and the boys black and blue and dragged me to a Temple of Shelyn. After a period of imprisonment and schooling - I escaped twice, but my dear mother had for once decided to stick around in the vicinity and hauled me back. Eventually I was apprenticed to a bard and swindler by the name of Hector Lanner. Hector was ancient, crotchety, and needed a lot of taking care of. But travelling his was very educational, performing and conning our way across The River Kingdoms.
I have been a bit lost since Hector passed away a month ago, mostly continuing where the pair of us left off. But I want something more, and being on the road is no kind of life."
Personality:
Elirious is young, 18, quick to laugh, impetuous, and almost stunningly glib, which has enabled him to talk himself out of most of the bad situations he has landed himself in. He is not a chaotic individual, only someone who has experienced a straight jacket of rules and prescriptions and reacted against it - for the most part he approves of laws, but thinks you need to have a bit of flexibility built in.
Though he would happily describe himself as a equal opportunity swindler, he really is not. His victims are invariably bullies, thieves, or rude, and he will often act altruistically, stealing back a man's purse or the like - though he will likely try to convince the fellow to buy him a drink, or the like afterwards.
Though he hates his fathers rigid code, and practice schedule, he is a lot more like him than he would like to think, punctual, hard working when he decides to do something, loyal, and mostly honorable. A naturally friendly individual he is finding his current role as a loner rather depressing and looking for a role where he can make and work with close friends.
In part from loneliness he speaks to a great many small animals trying to convince them to sign up as his familiar.
If he were asked his alignment he would say Chaotic Good, but it is actually Neutral Good. I am planning for his next feat to be Eldritch Heritage Arcane so he can acquire a familiar, though it is far from set in stone.
Appearance:
A tall and slender, but well muscled fellow, Elirious has a broad, but handsome face with a thick mane of straight black hair. His elven heritage is revealed in his piercing green wide almond shaped eyes, and when he cares to tie up his hair in a pair of pointed ears which are longer than the average half elves. Since Hector gave him his Sleeves of Many Garments before passing away he never really "wears" the same outfit twice unless it is for disguise purposes, and usually favours fine, but practical clothing.
He generally carries a flag tied to his longspear with a stylised dragon coiled about a golden egg. He stole this banner when he left home, having always been fond of it, using it as a knapsack. He has had it restored several times and stitches small mementos around the rim to make a thin border - the most recent being a patch of Hector's motley cloak.
