Class abilities:

Nature Sense (Ex): A druid gains a +2 bonus on Knowledge (nature) and Survival checks.

Wild Empathy (Ex): A druid can improve the attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The druid rolls 1d20 and adds her druid level and her Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

To use wild empathy, the druid and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.

A druid can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but she takes a –4 penalty on the check.

Woodland Stride

Background,Personality, and Appearance:

APPEARANCE

At first impression, it is clear hygiene is a foreign concept to Dustin. Baths never. Swimming rarely. Outdoors frequently. Body odor always.

Otherwise, Dustin would be a handsome fellow. He's well-built, tan-skinned (perhaps he's part Shoanti?), and nearly 6 feet tall. His hair is long, crusted in dirt, and worn in dreadlocks. Overall, his appearance resembles a filthy version of Daniel Day Lewis in Last of the Mohicans.

PERSONALITY

Manners are as foreign to Dustin as hygiene is. Much of this can be attributed to his upbringing (or lack thereof), but he often offends without understanding why. He generally means well and has learned to brush off all but the most aggressive bystanders of his behavior.

He is a passionate outdoors-man and would sooner live in a small cave than in a large house. He prefers the company of animals to people, but that is more due to his love of nature generally than his hatred of people.

BACKGROUND

Dustin has only a distant memory of his parents and has only a vague impression that something bad happened to them. Through a combination of luck, genetics, and resilience, Dustin survived his early childhood alone in the wilderness. It wasn't until late in his childhood (around 9 years of age - he doesn't know his exact age), that a hermit known as Luscious the Lost discovered him sleeping in his pig sty (hence the surname) and took him under his wing.

Under Luscious's tutelage, he learned some of the fine points of outdoor survival and the ways of druids. Luscious eventually guided Dustin to the Pathfinder Society which has since served as his outlet for socializing and a sense of purpose.
