Background:
Born in the Dwarven city of Kraggodan, Durgan is a direct descendent of the Dwarves who lived and suffered under the Whispering Tyrant’s rule and who eventually joined in the crusade to defeat his undead armies and imprison him in the bowels of the earth forever. As such, his clan has worshipped the cleansing rays of the sun for many years, seeing the valor of Iomedae in the flesh as she led the Knights of Ozem in the Shining Crusade against the forces of the Whispering Tyrant. Naturally, once Iomedae was vaulted to god status, many of those who fought beside her began to worship her valor and righteousness. Many Dwarves likewise joined her faith and have served her vigilantly and loyally down through the years.
Such was Durgan’s father, Keergan the Stout, who campaigned extensively throughout Nimratha and Ustalav, hunting the remnants of the Tyrant’s forces. And on one of these campaigns, Keergan came to venture alongside Professor Lorrimor, becoming first his protector and later his friend. They were friends for the remainder of Keergan’s life, who died in battle outside the gates of Vigil, as his platoon was surrounded and decimated to a man by an Orc horde from Belkzen.
Durgan’s mother received a letter not long after Keergan’s death – a letter addressed to Durgan, his eldest son. Instructions were given to only open the letter upon the news of Lorrimor’s demise…which has recently come to pass. Knowing that he has been summoned to Ravengro, Durgan who is a young priest in the service of Iomedae, the Inheritor, and he is eager to attend Lorrimor’s service and perhaps learn more of how he can serve his father’s friend even in his death.
