Same idea as last time, vanish so she's invisible when they arrive because she's essentially helpless after a dimension door. She has more wall of force and fly spells.

I haven't been posting from a computer, so I haven't actually been able to look at the map for a bit. The tanks are much closer than I realized and closer than the figure with the polar bears. And I didn't realize we were in the smaller area to the south - I've been imaging us up in the camp proper. Leading me to suggest:

Message: "Pausing has allowed the situation to change. Go inside to the east end of the building. Will set wall when tanks reach end."

She is still flying and hopefully doing so stealthily. She will wait - when the tanks round the end of the building, she will set a north-south wall across the west end of the building to slow them down between the wall and the fences. She will wait while the tanks move and her allies reposition.

My big question is - how are we getting into the camp proper? Wasn't that the goal on this mission? Or did I misunderstand where our adversaries are located? That's very likely.

Duardlara was trying to hide outside the building to keep an eye on developments. She's airborne and rolled stealth earlier to find a vantage point from which to hide. She's no longer invisible, not that it matters with the magic searchlights.

Things always slow down around holidays. I've been very ill recently, but I've been trying to conserve my limited resources while we are facing creatures that don't require my involvement.

We have new team members and I'm hoping that gives the game new life.

GM: I think we are improvising because we didn’t understand ourselves. Landing under the tower then flying up seems to be the plan.

”Very well. I have flight, I will go up and check the door. If it’s unlocked, I will open it when you are ready to enter. If it’s locked, I’ll try to unlock it for you.”

She will fly to the entry to the tower, inspect it first for a trap, test to see if it is locked, unlock it if necessary, and open it when the others are ready to charge in.

GM Variel:
For purpose of checks, my Perception vs. traps is + 21, my disable device vs. traps is +20, my disable device vs locks is +20, and my perception to listen at the door is +20. Since you know which rolls are necessary, I’m good with you rolling secret checks for me to keep things moving.

Climbing the ladder will take longer than I thought we planned to be here, let alone having an actual combat to get through a trapdoor at the top of said ladder. That's why I was thinking I would try to drop us inside the tower originally, but I felt like that idea didn't get any traction - or maybe I didn't like it enough to actually say it out loud.

We would have known the situation from past experience before we popped in. Can we get a clarification, GM Variel? We may need to retcon the personnel delivery...

Sorry, I didn’t get back to my character sheet to get available spells corrected for the latest plan. As for range, anything in the camp is within her range from the hut, so that’s no problem. I was thinking there wasn’t much we could do from the base of the tower. Perhaps using a fireball on the adjacent tower and then hop away?

Sadly, I do not have haste nor do I have heroism. I can cover darkvision for longer range for hours assuming no dispel magic is employed. I hate for you to completely nerf your style.

Keep your spell selections, I will pre-buff and transport and hopefully get some sneak attacks in so I'm useful.

OK, it sounds like I need to prepare darkvision for Sigurd, Vasily, Jethro, myself, and Titian. Everyone. Does anyone have access to Communal Darkvision? My opportunities to learn new spells have been sparse, but I might put that on my next level up choices.

I don't have the darkvision spell, which is 3rd level. I only have greater darkvision, which is 4th level and has longer range. I have a total of 7 slots of 4th level or higher and I plan on three of them being dimension door and I'd like to prepare some greater invisibility, but I can forgo those if I must. But someone will have to go without darkvision or we will have to rock with a single 'get out of jail free' card. Thoughts?

Fireball in the tower sounds like a start. I have a lot of range and decent stealth to try to do it solo and rejoin the group. Still not clear on how many darkvision spells I need to prepare.

”Possibly, but they are well-positioned. They can cover each other quite well. However, we have had success once we were within the camp at avoiding detection long enough for a strike or two. I could prepare enough teleportation to jump in, jump across, and jump back out.”

Duardlara shakes her head. ”We’ll be seen - the spotlights reveal people hidden with my spells. And my teleportation is more efficient so long as I can identify the destination sufficiently. Landing inside a hut would hide the tell-take visual display, a valuable tactic.”

Duardlara can cast Greater Darkvision. Very expensive in spell slots, but we have other casters. How many would we need?
