To Drus, life has never been anything but hard and cruel and thus he has become. He was born of rape, his mother being ravished at the hands of an orcish raider and left for dead. She was found by the local militia in the ruins of her village and along with the few other survivors was moved to a local stronghold. With no home and finding herself with child she traveled to her relatives in the city. They were kind enough to take her in, however when she subsequently died in childbirth they were not as sympathetic towards her half-breed bastard child. For most of his early years Drus was treated little better than a dog, given just enough to stay alive and nothing more. The familly themselves were poor, living in the city slums in poverty and fear of the many gangs and syndicates who held the quarter under their bootheels. Being a half-orc, Drus grew strong and fast and with little supervision soon fell in with a group of hoodlums as an enforcer and leg-breaker. He became so good at his work that he was noticed by a gang leader and was soon paid very well to hurt people. This new path was promising until he made the mistake of crossing his boss. Despite a deep streak of cruelty and ruthlessness, Drus has always had a soft spot for those who are helpless, who truly cannot defend themselves. So when a local pimp under the protection of his boss beat one of his whores near to death in front of Drus, he decided to give the man a taste of his own medicine. While the girl was grateful, this one act sent Drus on the run as his boss had no tolerance for what he saw as insubordination and betrayal. Since then Drus has been making his way through the world as a hired thug and killer, doing what he does best.
