Drehm was found as an infant in the alleys of Kassem, swaddled in a silken blanket of obvious Varisian make. As a young child he was difficult for any one person or family to raise on their own due to his somewhat violent tantrums and as such spent half of his early years back in the streets of town to fend for himself.
Thanks to the persistent efforts of certain members of the town, Drehm eventually grew out of his tumultuous early years into a somewhat brooding, moody, but upstanding teen. One of these townsfolk happened to be "Short Change" who, in addition to teaching the young half-orc the skills he needed to survive, got him a job busing tables at the Seven Silvers.
Though he recognizes the necessity of it during his childhood, Drehm has grown to distaste those who would steal and inconvenience others, especially those who don't have much to call their own. This has led to certain awkward clashes between Drehm and the halfling who raised him, the latter finding no true fault in what he considers just 'having a bit of a laugh'.
It's at mostly Short Change's urging that Drehm attends the coming of age ceremony. The half-orc still feels like he doesn't truly belong to the town and is increasingly awkward and uncomfortable in close proximity with others. Though he secretly hopes, as Short Change has promised, that attending this ceremony will change all of that.
