Formerly a top research scientist working for the Japanese government, Dr Yamamoto Hiro went into hiding in an abandoned underground research laboratory beneath the streets of Tokyo when the Great Old Ones returned to Earth, and began formulating plans for a device that would awaken, summon, and control Kaiju, colossal monsters of prehistoric origin created by the Elder Things as weapons of mass destruction, and placed in indefinite magical hibernation in remote corners of the world after they proved too destructive and intractable.
