Jian had thought, before, that he had known anger. Seeing the cruelty of the goblins of Thistletop, witnessing their pointless sadism and petty deprivations had infuriated Jian.
That was as a candle next to a raging fire.
Jian's eyes go wide with rage, and he moves. Years of training, of precision and technique, are gone. Jian bellows, almost more animal than man, as he attacks the creature.
"YOU CANNOT HAVE HER! NOT HER!"
If Jian was close enough he will 5 foot step and flurry with power attack

"Not nearly as familiar as I'd like to be," Jian quipped before realizing what he said. He quickly brought his own mug to his lips to hide the flush that was forming, but drank too quickly and ended up half-choking on the ale, coughing and sputtering and cutting a fine figure.
Smooth, Jian. Such a lady-killer.
"That sounds like a good plan. We can kill time until then."
@Jesse that was my idea. I think I'd go with a half-orc Shaman that's a devotee of Selune; son of a couple of Moonblade missionaries that took up residence with the Thunderbeast after helping assist them with some marauding lycanthropes. He'll be driven by omens to head to Luskan; perhaps he and Tuva met as children and he finds her again on the shores of Luskan, driven by fate. He would be dedicated to helping her see her magic as a gift rather than something to be ashamed of.
Dustin Reinhard, ex-pro-football star, lives in a far less flashy fashion than most of his peers.
He was able to buy a house in Sherman Oaks on a short sale (down markets favor first time buyers, after all!). Sherman Oaks is a city in the San Fernando Valley, near two of the major freeways in Southern California, the 101 and the 405. His particular house is located a couple of streets away from Ventura Boulevard, between the Woodman and Coldwater Canyon exits yep I'm a SoCal native irl :p. He gives Moorpark and Woodman as his closest major cross streets, and aside from the nearby freeway, his neighborhood is generally pretty quiet.
The home is two stories, a newer model in the traditional style. It's slightly over 3,500 square feet with a large backyard that Dustin has built a large pool into. He has a spacious two car garage, in which is currently parked a Tesla Model X and a Tesla Model S, both belonging to Dustin.
The house itself has sort of a nerd-chic design feel to it. Cool metal posters of Star Wars and Marvel movies decorate the walls (purchased from Etsy, of course). There are five bedrooms and five bathrooms, though Dustin has converted a couple of those bedrooms. One of them has a home gym that Dustin uses regularly, with a full set of weights as well as a heavy bag and a leg-press machine.
The other converted bedroom, Dustin has made into a sort of haven for his hobbies. There's a ginormous TV (the latest in 4K ultra...whatever it is, naturally) with all of the modern consoles attached and a state of the art gaming chair. There's a large desk with an almost unreasonably beastly desktop gaming rig, replete with top tier mouse and keyboard and three monitors. All of the tech is hooked into top of the line surround sound.
The downstairs has the standard kitchen, dining room and living room setup, though the television and sound setup in the living room is just as nice as the one upstairs.
Though no one is apt to see it, Dustin's room has a rather large library, full of leather bound editions of fantasy classics.
Dustin's kitchen is well stocked, and his living room has more than a mini bar; he has a full bar stocked with almost every type of liquor and glassware imaginable. He has a kegorator that currently has an Imperial Red and a Belgian Golden Ale on tap.
Finally, there is a "play" room downstairs; here, there is a custom table that has tablets built into it and a table-long LED display. Dustin uses this for tabletop games with friends. The table is surrounded by elaborate chairs that look like they could be being used by the White Council to discuss driving the Necromancer from Mirkwood...but they're all superbly comfortable and have cupholders.

Welcome to a recruitment for a Legend of the Five Rings game! Here's all the info you need to get started;
Setting:
The game is set in Rokugan, of course. The year is 1122. Those that are familiar with L5R's history will find this to be an extremely alternate version of the history they might be familiar with!
The game will start in Kyuden Seppun, during winter court. Your characters will be there as members of your clan's entourage, for one reason or another.
Allowed Material:
Any official 4th Edition material.
Character Creation:
Standard, as described in the book. Fluff wise, I would like a background from everybody. It can be as detailed as you like, but at minimum, I expect to know who your character is (and aspires to be) in Samurai society, her views on the Emperor and her views on the Empire.
I will be assigning everyone I select an extra Advantage and Disadvantage that I will base on your background.
I will require at least one shugenja, bushi, and courtier. Clan diversity is preferred. I would prefer no Ronin, but if you really want to play one, send me a PM and we can talk. Monks are perfectly acceptable.
I will be recruiting at least SEVEN players.
Posting Expectations:
I will try to post once a day, but I have a very busy job and personal life so that will not always be possible. Accordingly, I would like you all to be able to post every day, but will understand if sometimes that doesn't happen. If you don't post every day, I will bot you.
Recruitment will run until August 23. I'll be on vacation the 19-22, so will make my final selections that evening.

Octavius grinned over at Sir Arthur, recognizing the man from around the Hall of Words.
"I suppose we can start a friendly side game while we wait for the tournament..."
He briefly wondered if Doyle thought he looked tired see what I did there?.
Octavius inclined his head politely to Vetra taking her in; though it was far from obvious, he was appreciating her form. He'd had more than enough liaisons to learn to appreciate the exotic.
"Of course, you are welcome to a drink on me! As am sure is the case with all of you, the money is certainly no issue. I do hope I'll be able to rise to that challenge of yours? Why, if I were to...play my cards right, perhaps I might come to exceed your expectations! Perhaps a bit of sport in the beginning, before the main event? Low stakes. That ten thousand buy-in is a nice low bar. Who else is in?"
Octavius rolled the coin over his hand and, with a flourish, made it vanish with a bit of sleight of hand. He then repeated the motion with both hands, producing two decks of playing cards. These were produced by a bit of actual magic, the simplest of tricks, though the cards themselves were quite mundane. Octavius began to shuffle them expertly.
"Blinds will start at one two hundred and fifty gold for small, five hundred for big. Standard Lei Shin. No re-buys."

An L5R 4th Ed game that's set around the time of the Scorpion Clan Coup but with heavily altered history.
A homebrew sandbox Dungeon World campaign with heavy emphasis on player choice.
A Saga Edition game, likely Clone War era exploring the effects of the war on the players as they go through it.
A Pathfinder Adventure Path, likely Strange Aeons.
A heavily added onto version of the Ragnarok campaign from Scion.

A bit about me;
I'm 32, a lifetime gamer and GM. I'm not new to PBP but I am new to the Paizo boards. I will post at least once a day and expect the same from others. I'm pretty open to just about any official material though will have preferences with race/class in certain situations.
