Diomedes Wayfair |

Diomedes commits the scroll on flora and fauna to memory before heading to grab some supplies out of his study. He snags a simple robe to wear over his armor (which fortunately isn't made of metal), along with some holly, mistletoe, and other common spell components one would expect a druid to have. He also gets an empty journal and writing materials (so he can copy the scroll out as soon as possible) and some basic surveying tools.
Newly decked out, he hurries to the docks, continuing to adjust his gear as he runs. Slightly winded from the run, "Deth" steps aboard the Blessing and breathes in the fresh sea air, looking fairly druish, if he does say so himself.

Bann Drarks |

Bann moves quickly moving to his room to gather the remnants of his equipment, then to the library to refresh his memory on the Sodden Lands. Finally, nearly running into someone as he nearly starts sprinting, he acquires a Fishing Kit 5 sp? to better aid his story. Unfortunately, he doesn't have enough money to acquire much of anything else and makes due.
He then hastily makes his way to the Dock, upon setting sights on the Emporer's Bledding Bann can't help but stop to appreciate the ship, sizing up the fine vessel with some experience.
Snapping back into action as the Captain yells, Bann skirts up the ramp, now Jinase, nodding at the captain before quickly going to stow his gear.

Absolom - the Docks
The Captain grins at Tosen and responds with a slight Tian accent, "Worry not my friend. None know Aenon in Almas, it's not a port we've ever traveled to so he ah you will be who you want him ah you to be. So very confusing yes? I shall vouch for you if necessary as I'll be in port for a week long after your new ship has set sail".
Let's make that fishing kit 10 CP Bann
-------
Andoran - Almas - the Docks
The trip itself is quick and uneventful. The Emperor's Blessing is as fast and well crewed as it is beautiful.
An even larger ship is docked at Almas, you assume this is the Peregrine. It is a three-masted sailing ship with a spritsail on the bow. The vessel is 100 feet long and 25 feet across at its widest point. There are three decks and the ship and you imagine it can accommodate a cargo whose volume is substantial.
The ship's two boats itself are 20' long and at least 10' wide. Cargo is still being loaded onto the ship and it is a hustle and bustle of frenzied activity getting ready for the trip.
Soon enough you dock the Citadel of the Supreme Elect is one of the tallest and most readily identifiable buildings in the city. Now that you have all arrived, your destinies await!

Varloo Grimtide |

Varloo takes his hat off and rubs his bald head.
"Great. More interviews right? We should split up, arriving as a group would be suspicious."
Without waving to the others, Varloo quickly moves off in a splinter direction hoping to get on board the target ship as soon as possible!

Diomedes Wayfair |

Deth the druid glides quietly off the Blessing, blending into the stream of people moving and working along the docks. He strolls by the Peregrine to get a closer look at the ship and the supplies being loaded aboard.

Lorik Brightwater |

Orbious takes his equipment and makes his way off the vessel, heading straight for his objective.

Tosen Sonsho |

Tosen bows to the captain.
"Thank you for a job well done and your indulgence."
With that he disembarks, in no hurry to make it to his next destination. Once he gets to the Citadel at an easy pace, he makes his way inside. It was best to see if he would pass or fail to get aboard the next ship to the colony before making anymore plans, he thought.

Harul Safan |

Harul, now dressed in the fancy clothes of his cover as well as bald, has the chests associated with his cover unloaded from the ship as he disembarks, then sets about hiring a coach and porter to take him and his belongings to the Citadel for the next round of interviews, making sure to tip nicely. After all, it's not his gold he's spending.
Once there, he tells the first person who looks like a staff member he sees that he is Elderbrant Heirbrine, and he is here for his interview for the grand expedition, and that person should go tell whoever's in charge that he's here - and hands that person a nice tip.

Bann Drarks |

Jinase smiles briefly at Varloo's sentiment before retrieving his items as well. As he leaves the ship to join the crowd, he can't help but feel slight regret while leaving the lovely vessel. As he approaches the Citadel, Jinase moves to circle it a few times to get a better understanding of the building and its immediate surroundings.
He then heads inside. Both excitement and nervous energy running the gauntlet of his body.

Diomedes Wayfair |

oops, this got cut off
After taking some time to admire the ship that would (hopefully) be his berth, he sets off toward the Citadel, anticipating their questions and his answers. He knew he'd probably just wing it, but it gave him a sense of calm to feel duly prepared.

Andoran - Almas - Citadel of the Supreme Elect
The Citadel of the Supreme Elect is a walled complex that houses the offices and residence of the Supreme Elect, who is the chief executive of the democratic nation of Andoran, and who also serves as the mayor of its capital city, Almas. The small keep stands near the western end of the Field of Concord in the Liberty District of Almas. The citadel is topped by a large copper dome, and guarded by a battalion of Steel Falcons. The House of the Demarchy Assembly, which holds the offices of the ministers who advise the Supreme Elect, is also located within its walls, as are buildings that contain the offices of consuls, ministers, and other state officials
The secret Society Members begin making their way to the Citadel individually. Some stop off for shopping or simply wandering the city to ensure that not all of the Society Members arrive at the same time in a group.
As you all arrive you see that the line is out the door! It seems that the call for colonists has been greeted with great interest.
Harul manages to somehow skip the line and heads into the Citadel ahead of many already on line. The rest of you are in various places on line.
Does anyone on line wish to make a Diplomacy - Gather Information check?
He brings you to an office where a few people are already seated and waiting. The page enters a set of double doors across the room and exits soon thereafter. He waves you forward. He is a wizened old human hunched over with bad posture. His outfit is ostentatious and slightly big for his skinny frame. His eyes though are sharp as an Eagles and his voice strong and clear.
"Good day, Mr. Heirbrine is it? Ronald tells me that I just had to meet with you next. Tell me, besides a hefty bribe you no doubt paid to cut the line. Why should I see you before I see dozens if not hundreds of others who seek passage on the Peregrine?"

"So little lady...what brings you to such a suck-y point in your life? Wanna suck with me...?"
Why am I suddenly hearing Varloo's voice in my head with an Australian accent? =/

Diomedes Wayfair |

Diomedes, er-herm, Deth, feels a bit less confident seeing the huge line. He had expected some competition, sure, but, wow. He chats a little bit with people in line, hoping to learn anything that he can use to give him a leg up. Most of the group are farmers, smiths, sailors, people with skills to be sure, but they probably don't know what they're in for.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
He feels a little bad about trying to take the spot from one of these people, but dammit, it's for a good cause. And it's not like he isn't planning on actually helping the colony to succeed. Besides, if anything dangerous happens, he might actually be saving their lives.
He has to admit, the citadel is pretty impressive up close. Looking upon it, he gets a feeling of deja vu. Although he hasn't been here before, he HAS seen it... in a dream! He's sure of it. That feeling, the taste of-- what would you call it? Destiny?-- fills him with a sense of peace. I WILL be on that ship. I can feel it.

Bann Drarks |

Jinase moves to stand in line, at last, catching the glimpse of what looked to be Varloo moving in. Wish I knew that trick. He mutters to himself eyeing the line with distaste. This is going to take forever.
He stands in line for a bit before looking at the person behind him. He plasters a smile on his face.
Diplomacy for Gather Info: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 8
"So... nice weather, eh?"

Harul Safan |

"Bribe? I was under the impression I had a scheduled time for my interview, and I was merely asking you be informed I was here. I tipped the page to thank him for his time. If he interpreted my tip in such a way, I assure you it was unintentional. Since I am here, however, we might as well have the interview. After all, there is no sense in waiting. I am Elderbrant Heirbrine, as the page told you. I believe this expedition will be a most rousing success - and, of course, I am willing to help in any way to ensure it is so - physically, clerically, financially. I am most pleased to meet you...sorry, I don't believe I've caught your name."
Harul talks quickly, smiling and acting in a friendly manner as he extends his hand to the gentleman.

Finally, you discover that Talmandor’s Bounty has two primary sponsors: the Andoren government, and a newly formed finance company named the Bountiful Venture Company. Though who is behind the Venture Company is not known, at least not commonly known.
Varloo and Tosen make small talk but are not able to find out much of interest.
Bann seems a bit less popular than the others or he is just near the gruff silent types who don't have much interest in talking.

Varloo, Bann, Tosen, Lorik, Sharaya and Diomedes - the Wait is Over!
Once you are inside, you realize that the line was not all that long. A page brings each of you to a small administrative building where only a handful of people are seated and waiting. Within 15 more minutes those few people are in and out. Either the Seneschal denied these people quickly or his line of questioning is much abbreviated compared to how the Society vetted its Members.
As you enter the office, a wizened old human hunched over with bad posture waves you forward. His outfit is ostentatious and slightly big for his skinny frame. His eyes though are sharp as an Eagles and his voice strong and clear.
"Greetings, tell me about yourself before the interview begins".

Varloo Grimtide |

Trying to exude confidence, Varloo nods and removes his hat respectfully as he sits.
"Greetings to you too Sir. Well, I'm your golden boy! I'm not only a born sailor, but my life has led me to visit many a land. I've worked for the 'Torch' of Absolom for the last few years, so I've learned how to deal and work with people whom I might not always like."

Diomedes Wayfair |

Diomedes walks right up and offers the man his hand. "Good day to you, sir. Right down to business, eh? I like that. Very well. Where to begin? My name is Deth Tobrin, a humble servant of nature." He gives a slight bow at the waist before continuing. "Originally, I'm from a little hamlet along the Verduran Forest, but I've spent the last few years traveling around, coming to appreciate some of the wonders of the natural world. When I heard about this expedition of yours, I became enthralled. Finally! A chance for REAL discovery."
He holds up his hands as he speaks. "Now I know what you're thinking, friend: another wacko looking for gold. Perish the thought! I'm talking about plants and animals, fungi and lichen, birds and fish. The nigh primeval forests that have grown up around the ruins of the first great civilization. Those are the discoveries I'm after."
"I'm here because the fact is, you need someone like me. Someone who can catalog these discoveries. Someone who can advise colonists on the flora that are edible, and those to avoid. Someone who knows about how to deal with strange and eldritch fauna. Someone who can help not only with that initial period of uncertainty, but who can also help to maintain the colony's long-term sustainability by working with nature, instead of just against it."
"On top of these abilities, I also possess some skill in healing, hunting, and surveying." He stops and looks at the older fellow. "Ha! That may be more than you wanted to know. I apologize if I come off a bit rambunctious, but I don't know that I've ever been as excited as I am. Go ahead and ask me any other questions you have, friend. I'm more than happy to answer."

Harul Safan |

"Well, Smedrik, I traveled to Osirion to spend a year with my father's family there, and in that time we took a journey to the fringes of the Mwangi Expanse, where I learned to identify signs of poisonous wildlife as well as how to organize a proper trip from my uncle - I even arranged a day hike from our base camp in search of a rather rare type of butterfly, although it eluded us. As to skills I possess that would be of use to a fledgling colony, I was quite active in sports as a child, and am in excellent physical shape. I am rather hardy, and thus should not be a burden should some strange disease spread among the colonists. I've had a broad education, and thus may be able to help identify any plants or wildlife we encounter. I also have some skill with weapons, and could help protect the colony from any who wish it violence."
Smiling, the Osiriani man adds, "I also have access to a certain amount of capital, which I am willing to use to help finance the expedition and help defer the costs associated with."
GM, I'm assuming that the Pathfinder Society gave me enough gold I can do that last bit. If not, just ignore it, because Harul wouldn't have done that.

Sharaya Solistar |

Good afternoon, Grandfather. I'm Elia. I love your outfit. What is your name?
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
(Grandfather just as an affectionate title for an old man.) There were two lies in that statement, so even if he sees through the name lie, she is hoping that he thinks she is just covering up the "polite" lie that she likes his loud outfit. Once she has his name, she proceeds.
It's nice to meet you. In answer to your question, I am a scholar of Thassilon. I have always been interested in Azlant, not just because of my heritage, but because of my studies. Ancient Thassilon is intriguing, enchanting... She grins like a little girl. I want to know EVERYTHING about it.
Elia/Sharaya reaches up and touches the holy symbol of Desna hanging around her neck. When I heard of the first expedition, I somehow knew that this was right. This is what I needed to do. I missed getting on that first ship, but I knew I couldn't miss the second one.
Have you ever had a dream like that? Where you just knew that it was the perfect thing? I know that I can help the colony because I am young and strong, and I am skilled with magic... but more than that, I know that there are mysteries that I can solve out there. I hope we can discover some of what was lost to us in the winds of time.
She smiles again. I must sound young and naive to you, Grandfather. I promise I really do know what I am doing. It's just that this opportunity just makes me feel a level of childlike excitement and hope that I haven't felt in a long time. That's one reason that I knew this was right. How often do you get a chance to dedicate yourself wholly to something that you love?
Anyway, um, sorry for babbling. I'm a little nervous. I do so hope that my interview goes well. Are you the one asking the questions? I think I'm ready for whatever you ask. I've been practicing.
Varisia was populated by Azlanti exiles, so a Varisian and a Chelaxian would both have reason to refer to heritage, so other than a word choice that makes her seem a little bit younger and more naive than she is, the rest is the truth, so the only bluff needed (I think) was that first one.

Lorik Brightwater |

Lorik rolls neck first left, then right. It cracks both times, and he looks the old Human straight in the eyes. He neither smiles nor frowns, simply speaks plainly, strong and clear.
”Name’s Orbious Onx and, simply put, you could use a person like me. I’m amphibious and this isn’t my first excavation. I know how it goes; for every one scholar, you need a bodyguard, and usually a scout and a guide besides. I’m that rare combination of all of the above. While I might fall short of the expertise of some specialists, I’ll always be useful. I’ve spent my life ranging about the Mwangi expanse and I’ve found more than one Azlanti ruin in that time. I’ve even picked up the language. I’m a fair hand with a blade, if it comes to it, and more than a fair hand on a ship. Not to lay it on too thick, but I’m a team unto myself, and would only fare all the better with a group of specialists to shore up their weaknesses and enhance their strengths.”
He finished, voice and body language carefully calculated to portray not arrogance but simple confidence.

Bann Drarks |

Bann shrugs it off, silently relieved no one really felt like talking. Sitting down across from the old man he does his best to focus on seeming friendly. He tries his best to meet the old man's eyes, unsure of whether to blink, look away, or to stare. After a moment he settles on periodically blinking in (approximate) 10-second intervals.
"My name is Jinase, nice to be here today. I'm a hunter from the Sodden Lands, if you're familiar with them. They are to the Southwest of Almas.
Unsurprisingly, I am here to apply to serve as a hunter and forager for the expedition. I'm here because where I am from isn't a very great place, I've watched many a sad story unfold in that storm-ravaged land. I have few ties there and want a chance to start a new life. This seems like such a lovely opportunity, once in a lifetime, one filled with many possibilities, so I could not pass it up."
Bann takes a breath, the last of his words coming in quick succession, all in one breath.

Tosen Sonsho |

Tosen just stared for a moment then spoke without hesitation.
"As I am sure you already know, I have traveled extensively. Tropical climes are not unknown to me, nor are their dangers and specific effects on the body. As for organizing expeditions, my experience is none, organizing groups on the other hand. I have done that on more then a few occasions. My priorities tend to be the efficiency and the well being of the group, that tact as served me well. Concerning my personal skills, I am self sufficient so I won't be a drain on the group. Also I have a good deal of knowledge concerning the natural world and engineering. Both very useful I would think. I can identify plants for purposes of natural healing or edibility as one example. While I could help raise or repair structures and defenses as needed as well."
He seems to finish before adding one last thing.
"Also unlike most I require no weapons or armor to defend myself. My effectiveness in combat is not dependent on preparation or resources. While I benefit from these things, I do not suffer when I lack them as others do. Thank you for your time and consideration."
He bows slightly, finally done.

Lorik Brightwater |

Orbious smiles in contentment.
”You shan’t regret this, sir!”
He makes his exit politely, then heads for the inn and gives the name as instructed.

Diomedes Wayfair |

"Well, I'll be honest with you. I haven't spent too much time in survival situations in the tropics, but I'm pretty confident in my abilities. Nature is my library and laboratory, after all." He chuckles politely. "As for organizing expeditions, I've never led one myself, but I've been party to several. And, being blessed with the gift of gab, I've had quite a bit of experience with negotiating interpersonal conflicts, coming up with compromises, and helping everyone keep their eye on both the forests, and the trees, if you will. Group cohesiveness is important, after all. It's how ants, for example, get so much done."
He pauses and smiles. "But, I digress. What else can I tell you?"

Sharaya Solistar |

Tell me, what experiences have you had surviving in tropical climates? What experiences have you had in organizing expeditions, if any?
Well, I've been to Nagajor. It was especially difficult to survive there, not just because of the climate, but that was definitely a factor. If you've heard of it, you probably know what I mean, but if not, I can go into more detail if you like.
[b]I've organized several smallish expeditions to different Thassalonian ruins. But I mean, I am not sure if it is what you are looking for. I just call people who do that sort of thing... caravans, and then other researcher friends. I usually only supervise my own assistants. I delegate the rest of the details to others, so that it all gets taken care of. I hope that doesn't disqualify me. I don't like to micromanage everything. I'd rather focus on the science, you know?

Bann Drarks |

Tropical Climates and Leading Expeditions.
Bann continues answering somewhat quickly, trying to keep relaxed. He focuses on mixing in truth when he can to help keep things straight.
"Happy to make your job easier.
Some experience I'd say, you know, growing up near a Hurricane certainly seems to accustom one to the tropics. But I've seen a fair bit of Southern Garund, and am well accustomed to warmer environments. I've also spent some time fishing in such environments when the land fauna wasn't as plentiful.
No experience in leading any formal expeditions, but I have been at the head of many hunts, some lasting up to a week when times were rough."

---
Andoran - Almas - the Shining Sea Inn - Everyone
As the sky drags the sun to night, the Shining Sea Inn looms before you. Ahead and behind you see several dozen who are all headed to the Inn, all have bags packed and wistful looks in their eyes.
The Inn itself is a beautiful building decorated in sea and sailing motifs. It's at least four stories high. The activity there is substantial with people coming to and fro.
Several soldiers guard the environs watching all who come and go though they do not say anything to anyone their looks are clearly there to intimidate any who would seek to commit bad acts.
The front door is wide open. As you enter there are two men and two women behind the front desk. "May I help you?" each asks in unison.

Diomedes Wayfair |

Diomedes strolls in, confidence written in his stride. He approaches the front desk. "Good evening," he says to one of the ladies behind the desk. "Deth Tobrin. I was told that Smedrik had a room awaiting my arrival." He glances briefly around the room, trying to take as much in as he can without seeming rude.
"One heck of a busy night. Say, are there any planned activities this evening, like a dinner or something?"

Lorik Brightwater |

Orbious approaches the staff, nodding politey once he is near.
”Well met. I am just now in the employ or Smedrik. He instructed me to come to you for lodgings. I am called Orbious Onx.”
To the point. Polite. A wordly, salt of the earth type.
Lorik thought the deception going quite welp indeed.

Sharaya Solistar |

Sharaya, still in her Elia persona, and in quite a good mood after having successfully navigated the interview and getting a spot in the excursion, approaches one of the women at the counter and says
Yes, I was told that there was a room key waiting for me here listed under the name Smedrick. I was also instructed that there would be a get-together this evening for the other members of our group. Can you direct me?

Varloo Grimtide |

Smiling at his successful deception, Varloo easily follows the crowds heading for the Inn. Seeing some of his group spread among the other recruits, Varloo quickly feels a little invigorated, which causes him concern suddenly.
Why? Could I actually be looking forward to this voyage? Could Torch have been correct in his assumptions? Maybe I do need this more than I thought...or maybe I'm just coming down with Deepshark Gillfever? Varloo sighs at the thoughts, but can't help smiling his naturally oversized grin as he approached his destination.
Waiting his turn, Varloo finally enters the Inn, and moves to the counter while ignoring the obvious guards nearby. He speaks to the overwhelmed and tired looking Inn personnel and tries to keep his encounter with them short and sweet.
"Smedrik: He sent me."

Bann Drarks |

Bann nods to those at the counter, relief still flooding his body as he approaches. His surprise at the ease of this round of interviews was almost palpable, forgetting his new name for a moment Bann begins to speak.
Uh... hi. Smedrik said to come to this destination, I believe. Is this the correct place?"

Andoran - Almas - the Shining Sea Inn - Everyone - Dinner Party
They smile when you drop the name of Mr. Smedrik, "Right this way".
You are led to your rooms, reserved for just you of course.
"The Captain will be hosting dinner tonight. Feel free to mingle with other crew members in the meantime".
---
After settling in, you exit your room to mingle a bit in a large, ornate, wonderfully decorated Hall. As dusk arrives, the food begins to arrive. The food served is typical Andoran fare excellent and prepared by what are some of their best chefs as everything is delicious. The room in the Inn is packed to beyond capacity.
Smedrik is nowhere to be seen.
A set of double doors opens and a female human enters the room with a human male and a female half elf.
The hall falls silent as the human female begins to speak, her voice amplified by a bit of magic, "Greetings friends and travelers. I am Ramona Avandth designated by the Bountiful Venture Company to make this, the second journey to the Andoran colony, Talmandor’s Bounty.
I will be the person to contact should you have any questions or concerns. I will also the person who is "in charge" of the expedition. I have no wish to be a tyrant or appear overbearing. But. We journey to a far away strange place. I will need you, all of you, to follow my lead. We need to work together to make this a successful venture. Captain".
The human male steps forward, "I am Captain Jacob Markosi Captain of the Peregrine. On my ship of course I give the orders. Still, I shall defer to Ramona on any matters which do not directly impact the well being of my ship. With me here is first mate Naerath.
As the journey begins I am sure we will all get to know one another. BY tomorrow I will have a full manifest of the crew, soldiers, and passengers that will be making the trip. Enjoy this meal and the soft beds that have been procured for you tonight, when we set sail no such luxuries await. The Peregrine is comfortable enough for a pleasure cruise but this is no such things. We will be at maximum capacity from a standpoint of travelers and supplies as we carry not only what we need, but provisions for the colony already in place".
Ramona steps forward again, "Once again congratulations to you all and I hope you are all looking forward to this as I am.
Once we set sail though, the time for questions and doubts is at an end, we will be off and will not return for months at the earliest. If you need to drop, do so tonight that we may find others still in the city to take your place. If you have any concerns, I shall be here in the main Hall to listen to them for tomorrow will be too late".

Diomedes Wayfair |

Diomedes/Deth listens to the speeches with a sense of anticipation. Finally, finally, we're on our way. He spends much of the evening meeting and greeting those who will accompany them. He's careful to make sure that he greets the Pathfinders as though they have never met. He begins mentally making a list of how each person he meets might contribute to the colony... and who to be wary of. There's too much riding on this to make mistakes, for everyone, but especially, for him.

Varloo Grimtide |

Varloo saunters up with a sailor's swagger, his manner deferential and kind and he offers a toast with his mead mug.
"Master Avandth! Good'n eve to you and yours! May our journey be swift, our drink cool, and our new land free of dragons!"
He then acts a bit contrite.
"I always fear making a toast like that may seem like a challenge to the gods to smite me and mine, but I prefer to think the gods're no too concerned with toasts as they are with prayers. So...what say you? Is our journey's destination to be feared? Interesting? Boring? Hot? Breezy? Rainy? Little information has been let out about the colony, understandably of course. However, as 'ficial select-ees, can we yet hear about such things sooner than later?"
He then elbows her mildly and winks.
"I heard an ugly rumor the other day that the colony plans to try and grow Pesh on this new land of our'n!"

Bann Drarks |

Jinase moves to greet the three speakers, politely introducing himself as a hunter before moving on as soon as politeness allows to a seat in a corner, a small smile plays across his face as he thinks of the adventure to come. Here he sits, sipping and nibbling, making sure to appreciate what might be the last vestige of good food for a long.
He does leave a seat open beside him as to try and at least appear friendly.

Lorik Brightwater |

Orbious has no particular questions for anyone, but spends the night speaking to Ramona and Jacob, attempting to impress them.
