"He said shoot it if it attacks." Doctor Rok said, fretting slightly as he watched the dragon-man go face the gryphon. Something about this didn't seem right though. "Bard, have you ever heard of talking gryphons?" I forget the NPC bard's name.

"A defensive perimeter is a good idea." the doctor rasped. "Circle the wagons. Keep everyone close. Spears up. Ready a volley. I do not think it is coming for a fight, but if it is it will find one."

Just because someone plays a specific class or race doesn't mean they want or are suited to the party leader role. That coming about organically makes a lot more sense to me but I guess we'll see. I think it's intended to simulate how leadership roles were created in early medieval europe. It wasn't a meritocracy. The setting is clearly a caste-based society, so it makes sense that the person from the highest caste would be the one outsiders defer to. Within the party, the actual leader will come about through gameplay (and may change based on what the party is doing), but as far as the NPCs are concerned, they're going to look to the person highest on the social pecking order.

"I am Rok Daudagr." the masked man said. "Doctor, by trade, though I assume you had guessed that." He was covered from head to toe in a long hooded coat, gloves and a plague mask, making it impossible to tell the manor of person beneath. He was just under six feet tall and had a voice that sounded scratchy and surprisingly deep. His diction was precise and a bit clipped. He leaned on a hooked spear and watched the bard from behind the smoked goggles of his mask. "I traveled here from the northlands, but I tend to go where my trade is needed."

Going with an Agathoin Aasamar, since they are the animalistic ones. They gain Summon Monster 2 as their spell-like ability. Would you allow me to add Bloody Human Skeleton from the Variant Summons list to that ability? That seems like a good way of tiding me over in the undead minions department. |
