Background and personality:
Born of an Ekujae elf and a human Zenj man, Deliwe (or Deli for short) grew up torn between two very different sets of expectations. Their father's shamanistic customs on one side, their mother's warrior traditions on the other, Deli has been at the center of this tug-of-war for all of their life. A childhood illness left their eyes clouded and weak, so warrior training was difficult, to say the least. Still, not wishing to disappoint their mother, Deli persisted, and eventually became a fair warrior, if only against the training dummies.
Alas, if only one could gain spiritual enlightenment through practice alone. Despite hundreds of hours spent in meditation and rituals meant to facilitate communion with the spirits, Deli failed to gain even the slightest glimmer of shamanistic talent. "The child is slow of mind and easily distracted", the tribesmen would say, and they were right. Deli may have lacked a keen mind or common-sense, but their heart more than made up for it. Even the most cynical and hardened elders could not resist the child's earnest, soulful gaze. Always the one to care for sick or injured animals, or even bugs, Deli has only hurt people once in their life, and they still feel very bad about that.
But we're getting ahead of the story here. After both a shaman of the tribe and their own mother received a prophetic vision that seemed to involve Deli and their childhood friend Kwava, the youths were sent out into the world. Their path took them north-west at first, to Katapesh. There they learned of a deity of the sun, and since the sun is the strongest light, it made complete sense for Deli to become a follower of this Sarenrae. However, several years in her service didn't seem to advance their quest one bit, so Deli and Kwava set on the road again, heading north to Absalom. Unfortunately, Deli's usual inattention caused them to board the wrong ship, and instead of disembarking in The Jewel of the Inner Sea, they found themselves in a city considerably less... jewelly.
Riddleport was like nothing they had ever seen, heard or smelled. After Kwava's repeated insistences that this was a dangerous place, Deli took to carrying their weapons within easy reach, and that proved their saving grace when a couple of thugs accosted Kwava one evening as the youth was bringing food to their shared abode. Deli was able to put a couple of bolts into the attackers from their window, but the incident spooked them both so badly that they fled the city, taking refuge close to the only place that was even remotely familiar - Mierani Forest.
Deliwe is basically a puppy. Slightly hyperactive, adorable as heck, w- ooooh, squirrels! They always think the best of people, sometimes despite evidence to the contrary. They have a peculiar obsession with frogs, which they are unable to explain. They just really, really like frogs. They feel very deeply, and are not good at concealing their emotions. Very eager to please, Deli will push themselves to their limits and beyond for the people they care about (that includes Sarenrae, which they view more like a real, living person than a deity).
You are a wild half-elf of the Ekujae tribe of the distant Mwangi Expanse. You come from a long line of heroes who have served your tribe’s shamans since ancient times, and it was after one of those shamans received a vision of an elf and half-elf holding aloft a single light against the darkness that you left your home with your good friend Kwava to seek your destiny. As a result, you both traveled Golarion for several years, eventually coming to the small town of Crying Leaf at the edge of the Mierani Forest. Here, you first learned of the Shin’Rakorath. After hearing the company’s rhetoric (“to be the light against the coming darkness”), you and Kwava took it as a sign and joined the mercenary company. Your direct superior in the Shin’Rakorath explained that he feared a renegade elf from the Mierani Forest might have fled to the human city of Riddleport, where the renegade might have recruited the aid of one of that city’s crimelords. Your first assignment is to scout out the city of Riddleport and the environs and to determine if any of the city’s crimelords had indeed taken in a mysterious elven ally of late.
