Debra is Greg's half-sister. She was conceived when her mother believed her father was dead and sought the comfort of an elven man. Debra's step-father never loved her, Debra's mother always resented her for "causing" trouble in the marriage, and they both tried to downplay, and even deny, her elven heritage. Debra never met her birth father.
Debra's legal surname is Braunsyn, like the rest of her family, but she adpoted the Elven surname Ealoren and this is the name she gives when asked. Depending on the asker, she sometimes hyphenates (Braunsyn-Ealoren).
The only family Debra ever felt she had was Greg. And Greg was overenthusiastic to a point where it was detrimental to his health. Without Greg, Debra would have no one, so she has studied and trained to learn how to best keep him alive. When he decided that he must go off adventuring, Debra rolled her eyes and collected her gear.
