I am delighted to announce that this week, Raging Swan Press restarts its Pathfinder Roleplaying Game 2nd Edition support.

We'll have two Pathfinder 2nd Edition releases every month (along with our Pathfinder 1st Edition releases). Initially, our support will focus on the Wilderness Dressing and Dungeon Backdrop lines, but if demand manifests itself, I'd be delighted to expand our offering.

All our new Pathfinder 2nd edition supplements will be available at our own store and DriveThruRPG, and through our Patreon campaign. If you want to support Raging Swan Press's return to Pathfinder 2nd Edition, sign up for our Patreon campaign and drop me a line telling me that's why you signed up. To get our Pathfinder 2nd Editions supplements, you can support us for as little as $2 a month—a bargain!

As always, thanks very much for supporting Raging Swan Press. Good luck with your games.

Raging Swan Press have released two adventures (among other Pathfinder 2 products).

Dwellers Amid Bones
A Pathfinder 2nd Edition Compatible GM's Resource by Creighton Broadhurst, Fabian Fehrs and Stephen Radney-MacFarland

Lurking in the watery depths of a fallen orc tribe's sacred burial cairn amid the bleached, broken bones of savage warriors, honoured champions and mighty warlords the forest drakes Arduthal and Ingeirmaugh have made themselves a comfortable, safe home. Periodically emerging to ravage the surrounding countryside, their depredations have reached such a level that Baron Liofa Othen begs the heroes to slay the foul beasts.

The cairn's remote location, inundated, bone-choked passageways and the vengeful, possessive ghost of the orc champion Gork Shattershield, not to mention the drakes' mistaken identity as green dragons, all stand in the way of the characters' victory.

This adventure is designed for 5th-level characters, but is easily modified for 4th- and 6th-level characters.

This adventure also includes the richly detailed village of Arcmoor for your characters to explore.

Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs
A Second Edition Pathfinder Roleplaying Game compatible adventure for 1st-level characters by John Bennett and Creighton Broadhurst

Far from the nearest town, hidden deep in the forest, lies a marshy, boggy valley. Woodsmen and hunters shun the place—kept away by rumours of a terrible beast lairing within and of a ghost haunting the valley's boggy mere. But, as well as great danger, treasures magical and mundane may yet lie unclaimed in the valley for three unexplored tombs built by ancient hands, stand amid the mud and reeds. Dare you explore the Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs?

Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs is set in the Duchy of Ashlar but is easily adapted for almost any GM's campaign.

Raging Swan Press is proud to announce our first Pathfinder 2nd edition adventure--Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs.

Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs releases on August 1 and every member of our Patreon campaign pledging at the $2 and up levels gets a free copy!

About Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs
Far from the nearest town, hidden deep in the forest, lies a marshy, boggy valley. Woodsmen and hunters shun the place—kept away by rumours of a terrible beast lairing within and of a ghost haunting the valley’s boggy mere. But, as well as great danger, treasures magical and mundane may yet lie unclaimed in the valley for three unexplored tombs built by ancient hands, stand amid the mud and reeds. The Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs lies about a day’s journey to the south. Hidden in a swath of rarely explored forest, the valley is surprisingly remote. Widely believed by the locals to be haunted, few willingly make the trip to explore the site.Dare you explore the Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs?

The adventure begins with the party in the town of Dulwich (extensively detailed in the adventure with a gorgeous map from Tommi Salama).

Not precisely related to PF 2e, but...

If one has the 1.0 edition of a product for which there is a 2.0 (not speaking of Pathfinder editions, but rather, for example, Hopespyre 2.0 or DD: Altars 2.0), what changes will have been made between the two?

It's good to see that Raging Swan is doing well, and looking forward especially to more Gloamhold goodness!

That depends on the line.

For Village Backdrops a 2.0 version means roughly 2,000 extra words over the original edition. This word counts tends to be "spent" on an extra page of detail about the village itself and an extra page of information about the surrounding locality.

For Dungeon Dressing 2.0s it means a variety of things depending on the book/installment. All the books benefit from a new crisper layout and--of course--a general additional clean up of the text. We are also commissioning new artwork by Matt Morrow for some of the instalments. A few of the instalments will likely be super-sized. For example, Doors and Doubler Doors could easily be combined to save space, eliminate repetition of some of the material and ease of use.

As you probably know, Pathfinder 2nd edition is hurtling towards us. In a few short weeks, Paizo will unleash the new edition into the world at Gen Con 2019. If you were wondering if Raging Swan Press will be supporting the new edition, wonder no more. The answer is a resounding yes!

Instead of me waffling on at great length, I’ve created a FAQ so you can quickly get the answers to some of the questions I expect to be frequently asked. If the FAQ doesn’t answer a question you have, just leave a note in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer it there.

What Does This Mean For Your Support of Pathfinder 1st Edition?

Nothing! We’ll continue to support 1st edition products as long as our customers want them. If you want us to keep publishing them, keep buying or downloading them!

What Does This Mean For Your Support of Other Systems?

Nothing! We’ll continue to support our System Neutral and 5e lines as before. Our Pathfinder 2 products are an addition to our lines, and not a replacement for anything.

What Products are Raging Swan Press Releasing in August?

The August release schedule for Pathfinder 2 products comprises:

August 1: Shunned Valley of the Three Tombs (all being well) which comprises the valley itself along with the nearby town of Dulwich. By John Bennett and Creighton Broadhurst. This 32-page adventure for 1st-level characters will be available in print (but not on launch day, sadly, due to an array of tremendously boring logistical problems). Members of Raging Swan Press's Patreon campaign pledging at the $2 and up levels will get the PDF of this adventure free.

August 12: Village Backdrop: Hopespyre 2.0 by Jacob W. Michaels

August 15: Dungeon Dressing: Altars 2.0 by Creighton Broadhurst, developed by Stephen Radney-MacFarland

August 26: Deities & Demon by Creighton Broadhurst and lavishly—and I mean lavishly—illustrated by Matt Morrow.

What Does This Mean for the Patreon Campaign?

Members of our Patreon campaign will get our Pathfinder Second Edition releases as part of their rewards. This means, for example, that every time we release a Village Backdrop, qualifying patrons get the Pathfinder 1, Pathfinder 2, System Neutral and 5e editions of the village.

What Lines Will Feature Pathfinder Second Edition Support?

Initially, we’ll be releasing Pathfinder Second Edition material for our Village Backdrop, Eventure Dungeon Backdrop and Dungeon Dressing lines. We’ll also be releasing Pathfinder Second Edition adventures and supplements designed for the Ashlar and Gloamhold campaign settling. And, as always, qualifying members of our Patreon campaign will get Pathfinder 2nd edition products as part of their rewards.

Any More Questions?

If you have any more questions, just shoot! I'd be more than happy to answer them. As always, thank you for your support!

Next week, Raging Swan Press releases Village Backdrop: Lanthorn 2.0 by Creighton Broadhurst in Pathfinder, 5e and System Neutral editions. Members of our Patreon campaign at the $2 and up levels get all three editions of the village this Friday as a thank you for their pledge. So for as little as $2 they get over $10 worth of gaming goodness!

About Lanthorn
High up in the mountains, and often besieged by packs of murderous trolls, the village of Lanthorn stands as civilisation’s last glimmering light in an otherwise bleak and barren mountain range. A strange alliance of wizards—the Grand Conclave of Sublime Artificers—and a gaggle of (almost) civilised goblins—the Flaming Skull tribe—dwells in a bizarre atmosphere that is both scholarly and anarchic. Protected by high walls and gigantic magical lanterns imbued with potent fire magic, the wizards craft the mundane and wondrous items for which they are famed. Without the walls brave—or foolhardy—goblin “miners” search the nearby troll-haunted mines for lead and silver—some of which is reputed to have magical properties.

This updated edition of Village Backdrop: Lanthorn comprises several extra pages of new material along with notes on playing goblin characters!

As a little bit of context, our sales at OBS outperformed sales at Paizo by about 7 to 1 last month. A couple of years ago, sales on both sites were basically neck and neck. I'm not sure what happened, but something happened!

The people at your favorite Torch Carrier Third Party Company might, however, actually, like Pathfinder Second Edition, and prefer to publish for that.

Companies also go where the money is. Current edition Pathfinder 3pp sales have been plummeting for a while now; I actually know several 3pp companies who were already pulling out of the Pathfinder market before this announcement was made, and Pathfinder Kickstarter funding has been trending consistently down. Meanwhile, both Starfinder and 5E have been wildly successful, with growing consumer bases and really strong 3pp sales.

Realistically, some of the most popular 3pp companies out there right now might actually be able to stay in business specifically because PF 2E is coming out, from a combination of boosted sales from the market that doesn't want to convert, and from the opportunities inherent in a new edition being released.

This is an interesting comment.

For what it is worth, at Raging Swan Press we haven't seen plummeting Pathfinder sales--in fact every year (with one exception) is better than the year before. What we have seen is very poor sales at Paizo.com for Pathfinder material. That's been the case for several years now and coincided generally with the start of our Patreon campaign. On the flip side of the coin, our sales at OBS are stellar and our Patron has been successful beyond my wildest (but not most depraved) dreams.

For all that, I am cautiously optimistic about the new edition. As Michael says there are tons of opportunities inbound but until I see the mechanics and work out if I actually like the new system or not I can't say whether Raging Swan Press will support it.

Sadly, no. The code only works at our store.

Are you a GM who wants some LOVE? Of course, you are--everyone needs some love.

Fear not, then, for Raging Swan Press is here to give you some love! For some reason, GMs often seem to be forgotten on Valentine's Day (witness the utter lack of "I love GMs" cards). This is an outrage, which I feel compelled to correct.

For 24 hours only (from now), use this link to the Raging Swan Press store to get 50% off any of our PDFs (but not our bundles or physical posters). Your discount will be applied automatically when you checkout.

Alternatively, use the code GMLOVE at checkout to secure your discount.

This offers ends at 9 am GMT February 15--so hurry.

I hope you find something you LOVE (do you see what I did there?) As always, thank you for reading and good luck with your campaign,

Last time I was getting ready to sign up to support someone via Patreon I was turned off by a rather staggering amount of privacy concerns with their site. I've forgotten the specific details over time, but it was likely a dozen or so web trackers and advertisers linked to their site. Monetizing patronage above the percentage they take really bothers me.

So, I'll be happy to act like a normal consumer, and pay more for that.

Well that's tremendously decent of you!

Masquerade in all three formats will be up at the Raging Swan Press store on Monday so you could definitely pick it up there. For us, that's the next best option after Patreon. It will also be available in all three formats at RPGNow and DriveThruRPG on Monday.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the response. A quick glance at your site and it seems like I can probably manage a transaction without additional exposure, via PayPal. So. Expect a sale on Monday.

Quick word of explanation... these days digital security is in a state where pretty much everywhere will be hacked, sooner or later. The fewer places my payment information touches, the less likely my information will be compromised. So when sites require creating an account or directly filling in payment information, I am circumspect. "Do I want this product/service badly enough to add one more site to my exposure?" I'm happy to pay more for things via (for instance) Amazon, if it means I don't have to deal with ShadyMom&Pop Inc. Anyway, kudos for having an option that doesn't require risk.

I completely understand, about security--I'm rather conscious of it myself. Thank you for looking into our store and I hope you enjoy Masquerade!

Hello!

I'm jolly excited this month to introduce to you Richard Pett's first book for Raging Swan Press: Village Backdrop: Masquerade. It's also our first mobile Village Backdrop which means you can place this village almost anywhere in your campaign (which is handy as I'm sure your players will "enjoy" visiting...

About Masquerade

A troupe of masked actors and comics crew the floating village-theatre of Masquerade. The village—really three rickety barges that visits both riverfront and coastal villages, hides a secret many guests would find unpalatable—most of the performers suffer from leprosy. The infected—generally those with very early stages of the illness—hide behind their masks, costumes and gaiety. Forced to keep moving to keep their terrible secret hidden the folk of Masquerade are on a perpetual pilgrimage to visit holy sites in hopes of a magical cure for their horrendous affliction. The worst afflicted are kept below, treated with kindness and cares as the village floats onwards seeking salvation. However, the true ruler of Masquerade is an even more unpalatable guest—a vampire—but no ordinary queen of the night, no simple bloodsucker is the so-called Silent Queen for an ancient vow binds her more tightly than the stoutest chain…

Members of our Patreon campaign get Village Backdrop: Masquerade (retail $3.45) for as little as $2. Even better for their pledge they get all three versions of the village--Pathfinder, 5e and System Neutral editions--so whatever fantasy RPG they play, they can easily insert Masquerade into their campaign.

Luckily, if you want all three versions of Masquerade (with a retail value of over $10 for as little as $2) you've still got time to pounce!
