"BECAUSE I'M TRYING TO KEEP ALL OF US ALIVE! If he had responded to the head I wouldn't have bothered, but it clearly wasn't going to cut it, so someone had to do something besides give up! And if I have to cut off the fingers of someone who murdered their own father in order to save your life, then it's not even a hard choice! I would KILL him to keep you safe, to keep all of you safe! Because that's my job! The two of us stood alone against actual demons, and this is all the trust I get? A mean look and a sharp edge is all it takes for you to turn on someone?"

Conner shakes his head and tries to focus, but he's not used to fighting demons, he's just a man with a sharp metal stick. But he'd rather die than let Nicat know that, so it's best to get on with it. Attack on Yeth Hound: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Conner looks at the place where the spell hit him, throws down his sword and shield, and stalks over to the unresisting wizard, grabbing her by the front of her robes and driving his forehead into her face. "I said to stop fighting and you'd live! You're lucky I don't kill you anyway!"

Conner works his jaw slowly, barely listening to the rambling noble as he waits for him to give a number. To pass the time, he estimates how much time this man had spent in front of the mirror that day. A hour? More? The only thing worse than a noble, was a useless one. All the money and free time you could ask for, and most of them can't be bothered to learn how to protect themselves. Conner strongly suspected that if this man ever picked up a real sword, his hand would erupt into blisters in moments. When he started in about some priestess Conner had to remind himself about the money again. Then promptly remind himself he didn't know how good the money was yet. When the strangers came in, Conner glances over the two women. Not bad. Dwarf could stand to miss a couple meals. |
