About Connel Lebeda

History:
Connel parents were from a distant branch of the Lebeda family with a small merchant business trading along the East Sellen River. The business gave him exposure to not just regular trade transactions but also to interactions with gnome communities and even the fey. Bespite it all he still yearned for something more than the small settlement where he grew up.

Then when he was 16 he accompanied his father on a trip to pick up some merchandise in New Stetven. The minute he stepped off the dock he was hooked: the hustle and bustle of the city, the noise and the activity, it all sang to him in a way he’d never experienced. It was all he could talk about for days after returning home. His father called in a few favors, and within the year Connel was an acolyte in the temple of Abadar in New Stetven.

He took to the teachings of the church very quickly, almost as quickly as he took to city life. He wanted the entire experience: he continued to move his lodging to various districts so he could see the city from various perspectives, he acted as a contact for the family’s business so he could interact with the many merchant families in the city, he even spent some time serving on the city watch to protect his new love.

Even with his love for the city, he still sometimes felt the call of the open road. The city life would always be his first love but Connel often found himself walking the world and sleeping under the open sky purely for the fun of it.

When the call went out from the swordlords Connel immediately knew he was going to answer. Who better than a servant of Abadar to set out on a journey to create cities, to open new trade routes and to settle the wild forests into shining examples of civilization? After settling his affairs in the city he traveled home for goodbyes and some last minute advice. His father opened a locked chest and handed Connel a bag containing a kukri and several crossbow bolts, all of an unusual colored metal.

“Cold Iron?” he asked. “But you’ve traded with fey for years?” His father simply shook his head. “Doesn’t mean I’ve ever trusted them. Just don’t wave these around. Remember our words: ‘Success through Grace’”

Personality:
Connel feels truly blessed to live in a city that can provide anything and everything he could want. He feels that his role in the service of Abadar is to also be a provider whenever he can. His first actions in any situation are to make sure he does what he can for his teammates. He is quick with a joke or an anecdote, and even though he prefers the life of the city sophisticate he has no issues getting his hands dirty when its required. While not usually the first person to speak in a situation he usually has something to say about almost every topic.

Appearance:
Even when Connel is on the road it is pretty clear he is from the city. Well kept travelling clothes, neatly trimmed goatie, he looks like one of the last people you would expect to see camping out underneath the stars. His dark hair and eyes make him fairly nondescript but there is certainly an intensity in his gaze and an ease to his gait that tell an observer there is more than meets the eye here.
