Chest Thumper's page

Chest Thumper is not pleased with passing through the utter darkness. Nor is he particularly pleased to be in such a small space on the other side.

Yet, he does not protest when he sees the man who is at least as large as himself.

He looks from the man to where the man is gesturing. He doesn't understand words but he does understand tone and immediately points a finger at Maka.

Chest Thumper is quite infuriated when he gets bit but the scaly beast doesn't stick around to get bit back. He prepares himself for the next time one of them gets close.

When Maka gets to the kitchen, Chest Thumper is there, rummaging through the food stores. He is wrist deep in a bag of oatmeal, shoving it raw into his mouth by the fistfuls. As may be imagined, he's not particularly diligent about it and a fair amount of the food is ending up on the floor.

Of course, he plans on eating that, too, so it's not wasted.

He hoots gently to Maka around a mushy mouthful of oats.

Kalchine is conspicuously absent.

Chest Thumper hoots softly then moves over to pat Maka on the back with one giant hand as she sobs.

When the monk has regained control of herself he moves to do the same thing to Winter, his hand so big that it completely covers the fox with each surprisingly gentle pat.

Chest Thumper gives a roar of victory then demonstrates how he got his name as he brings down the strange creature with no head.

He pounds the corpse a few times for good measure before looking around for any other opponents.

Only Chest Thumper's connection to Kalchine keeps the frost ape standing as electrical burns rise on both of them.

Smoking from the onslaught, Chest Thumper vents his pain and rage on the horseman.

Physical: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

Chest Thumper hoots in dismay and frustration as his target bursts into bats instead of dying.

But, he sees another target to vent his frustration on and charges at the weird creature with no head.

Chest Thumper doesn't notice the intense battle taking place behind the barrier, focused on the strange, fanged men in front of him. He rips and tears into them.

Despite his massive size, the frost ape manages to Evade all the flying wooden shrapnel.

Chest Thumper shies away from the flame and barrels toward the remaining figure nearby and takes a bite.

Chest Thumper barrels past his brother and Maka, throwing himself furiously at the snake tailed lady.

Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

He almost stops when the pain and resistance sets in but then blames the lady and wants revenge.

Unfortunately, he also cannot get to the lady.

Chest Thumper, having spent far more time as a tiny plaything in Kalchine's pocket is more than happy to get out and do some damage. He rushes into the room, largely filling it with his bulk and tries to take a bite out of the strange woman.

Chest Thumper glares at Kalchine, though the Triaxian is pointedly ignoring him, rather too casually examining the entrance to the hut.

The frost ape pats her gently when she approaches, his massive hand covering the entirety of her back each time it makes contact but so light that she is unmoved.

He huffs and shakes his head and slaps his free palm down on the ground hard enough for her to feel the vibration in her feet then gibbers for a few moments.

Apparently, having vented enough, he then gets up and walks on all fours up to the hut.

He doesn't look at Kalchine as he goes in but gives the triaxian a shove hard enough to knock him sprawling off the porch.

The frost ape shrugs and stretches, looking around then glowering, hooting and grumbling at Kalchine.

Then, he sniffs the air questioningly before focusing on Anastasia.

He hoots more gently then takes a seat in the snow. He refocuses on Kalchine and gives him another accusatory growl before crossing his arms over his chest and turning his back on the Triaxian.

Chest Thumper perks up as he feels his connection to Kalchine renew. He looks up just in time to catch more of the hot hornets stinging him. Dangerously close to unconsciousness, he scampers down the tower to join his brother.

Chest Thumper lets out a mournful howl that carries eerily across the camp as his brother falls and their connection is broken.

He whimpers and hunkers down in the tower.

Chest Thumper does not like this. There are too many people with stinging sticks. He likes the people around him good enough, but he wants to be with his brother.

He looks around and spots the poor, week creature ever so slowly climbing the limbs that support this nest.

With a hoot, he swings over, clambering down and grabbing Kalchine's arm in one big paw.

Chest Thumper is able to dodge away from the bolt of lightning and then avoids the stabs of the bayonets.

As Quasit gets behind the soldier, the frost ape attacks him as well.

Chest Thumper also fails to avoid the bullets and Kalchine staggers as part of the Frost Ape's wounds are transferred to him.

But Chest Thumper hardly pays attention, in fact, may not even know that his brother is taking some of his pain for him.

He simply begins ripping and tearing at the soldiers in the tower.

Chest Thumper roars in indignation and pain as the strange boxes and tubes spit hot wasps at him again.

Given his form and abilities, it is little surprise how easily he scales the tower, though when he gets to the top, he hesitates as he scans the threats.

Chest Thumper gives a hoot of approval at Quasit's kind tone then lives up to his name, pounding his mail clad chest a few times.

But, as the humanoids move around with their inscrutable purposes, he focuses on what's important, using his claws and teeth to tear into the bear he helped kill until he pulls out a steaming liver and begins gnawing on it.

The red spatters in the snow are joined by more and are soon reflected in his own white fur.

Chest Thumper hoots in triumph as the bear's claws fail to connect.

He lays into the creature to prove which is the superior arctic predator.

While his brother tries to make friends with bears, Chest Thumper lopes over to show the bears' friend that they aren't friends.

Chest Thumper scowls at the newcomer, rising from the spot in the corner where he was sitting and giving a little hoot and growl of warning.

He doesn't like the looks, or more accurately, the smells of the guy.

And he takes a bite before he realizes it is beyond it's "best by" date so he slashes at it with his claws.

Chest Thumper shakes his head at first, giving a disapproving hoot.

But when Kalchine leaves and there is no more barking from the fire bees, he follows, keeping hunched over as he moves.

Chest Thumper cocks a curious head at the goat. For a moment, he contemplates whether or not he can eat it. But given its state of active decay, he decides that's a bad idea.

He gives an involuntary shiver at the odd light but doesn't seem too disturbed by it.

He finally gets within reach of one of the headless riders and tries to make it armless, too.

Chest Thumper sees the people moving around in the long hole to the southwest and suspects they have burning flies with them. He clambers over the fence and starts toward them.

Chest Thumper continues to lope toward the tower to join the rest of the group there and Kalchine follows, in parallel, in the building, though they can't see each other.

Chest Thumper has no idea where these new scalding flies are coming from so he lopes toward the place where he does know they're coming from.

Chest Thumper gives out a howl of frustration and pain as he is bitten by the hot flies again and even more by the fiery thunder.

He very much wants the pain to stop and is very angry that it happened in the first place so he lopes after the cause and takes a bite out of it.

Um...that was APE business, thank-you-very-much.

And now I'm trying to figure out how to give Chest Thumper one more point of intelligence and the gunslinger feats necessary to be a monkey machine gunner.

Remembering the sting of the chattering creature before, Chest Thumper sprints from behind one building to behind another building to avoid being stung, again.

Chest Thumper howls in pain and frustration as he's peppered with lots of tiny, invisible stinging insects.

He runs for cover but then the pain becomes anger and he angles back around the building, rushing toward where he saw some of the enemy soldiers.

Chest Thumper howls in pain at the noise of the big gun going off then roars in fury at the gunshots coming at him.

Miraculously, he is able to twist away from the explosion with no harm while the smaller projectiles pepper him, leaving several bloody marks. He continues following Quasit, unaware that she doesn't really have a plan.

Chest Thumper also has Evasion.

Chest Thumper squeezes through the door.

He sniffs the air then scowls in disdain at his brother before turning that gaze out to the open space before them.

The scowl changes faintly to one of suspicion which is ready to tumble into fury at the slightest indication that he has something to be suspicious of.

Chest Thumper isn't so queasy as to pass out from the intestinal distress.

Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

He is extremely shaken up by the invisible menace, giving a low hoot and his fur standing on end, which makes him look even bigger and exceptionally shaggy.

Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Turns out, Chest Thumper does not have an iron gut and all the grossness that he's eating does not do him well.

Fortunately? He regains his intellect just in time to fully experience his intestinal distress.

Will (Feeblemind): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Chest Thumper looks at the skulls thoughtfully then picks one up and starts gnawing on it like a dog with a soup bone.

Chest Thumper also pats Quasit on the head like a puppy and rolls on his back, holding her like a teddy bear.

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

He keeps her like that until Kalchine comes over.

"Sorry," the Triaxian says and pulls the frost ape's arm away to free her.

So, Feeblemind isn't going to affect Chest Thumper much, for obvious reasons. I'll keep making the saves but we probably don't need to wait for him to recover before continuing.

Chest Thumper is unable to fight off the poison or the nausea of the smaller spiders and as the big spider stops its keening, he scoops up Quasit and cradles her like a baby.

Chest Thumper manages to avoid the little spiders while crossing the room to get to the big spider. And since spiders are delicious, he takes a bite.

Chest Thumper does not appreciate waking up just in time to be hit by a sharp fine.

He appreciates it wrapping around him like a constrictor even less.

He first makes an attempt to break free.

Chest Thumper snaps at the dragon as it maneuvers around the room.

Bite (Bull's Strength, Animal Growth, Power Attack) AoO: 1d20 + 17 + 2 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 17 + 2 + 4 - 2 = 30

Physical: 1d8 + 10 + 2 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 + 4 + 4 = 25

Then follows him to take another bite.

Bloody Claws is also active so if any of these attacks hit Yrax starts taking 6 Bleed damage every turn.
