Allayna grew up on the streets of Korvosa, where many years ago she was used by crime lord Gaedron Lamm as one of his "Lambs". She was a poor thief and a worse liar and soon Lamm was threatening to feed her to Gobblegut. With the help of her friends Layla and Olzan, she escaped Lamm's clutches. She was found by a Paladin of Iomedae and taken in by him. He saw a spark in her that he had hoped he could ignite into divine might. He took her to his station in Lastwall, and trained her as his squire and apprentice. Over the years she heard tales from her home, of Layla and Olzan. Both joined the Church of the Dawnflower shortly before Illeosa's rise, and both ultimately fell to her struggle for power. Allayna regrets not being there for her friends, but an even darker power arose quickly to keep her occupied and keep her mind from revenge. Tar Baphon broke his shackles and it became her duty to help to destroy his legions of undead and to attempt to contain him once more.
Allayna is pure and noble, and constantly trying to redeem herself for the things she was made to do in her youth. She has a constant regret that she did not stay with her friends, and a nagging feeling that if she had they may have defeated the Dragon Queen, and worse that her temperance may have prevented Olzan's fall into darkness and rise as an Anti-Paladin of Rovagug. She keeps these feelings to herself and throws herself into battle, almost as though she has a death wish to rejoin her childhood friends.
Allayna is of Chelaxian descent, raised in Korvosa. Her hair and eyes are both black, and her skin pale. She appears slight of frame at only 5'6", but she is strong beyond her appearance. She is often stern faced and serious, her mind occupied with regret, doubt and war.
