Arcane Pool (Su): 6/Day. Cabe may spend 1 point from his Arcane Pool as a swift action to enhance one held weapon into a +1 weapon for 1 minute.
Canny Defense (Ex): When wielding his Aldori dueling sword and wearing light or no armor, Cabe gains a dodge bonus to AC equal to his Intelligence bonus, with a maximum bonus equal to his magus level (currently +2). He loses this bonus when flat-footed or otherwise denied his Dexterity bonus to AC.
Spell Combat (Ex): Cabe is trained to dual-wield one-handed weapons and spells. During a full attack action, he may take a -2 penalty to all attack rolls for 1 round to make a full attack with a weapon in one hand, and cast a spell with a casting time of no more than a standard action with his off-hand. He may take an additional penalty to attack rolls equal to up to his Intelligence modifier and add it as a bonus to concentration checks when using spell combat.
Spellstrike (Ex): When delivering a spell with a range of touch, Cabe may instead deliver the spell with a weapon strike.
Tall and lean, with wiry muscle showing where his charcoal-gray uniform doesn't cover, Cabe is pocked with scars on nearly every inch of his body, including three nearly-perfectly vertical lines across his right eye, which is slightly milky. His wispy white hair is worn long in a tight braid fashioned in the dwarven military style. The dueling sword at his hip looks battered from decades of use, but well-cared for. His good eye is a vibrant green, a stark contrast from the stern set of his small, thin mouth and hawkish features.
Cabe is taciturn, sometimes to a fault. Having spent nearly a decade in his youth as a militia captain (a position purchased by his father) he is more used to leading than following, though having been little more than a caravan guard for the last twelve years means it's been awhile since he gave anyone orders.
In social situations, Cabe is well aware that his reticent nature makes him a poor candidate for a "face," and it is one of the few situations where he is more comfortable - perhaps even relieved - to let someone else take the lead, though when the going gets rough, his scowl has made more than a few green recruits shake.
In combat, Cabe is all business. Despite his high-strung nerves, experience has tempered the hot-headedness of his youth, and he has taken to strategizing. If possible, he always opens with his bow at range before closing the distance and bringing out his dueling sword and enhancing it with his Arcane Pool. He generally leaves heavily-armored allies to fend for themselves, preferring to engage with more agile characters that might benefit from a flank. If no such allies are nearby, he either casts vanish and catches a larger opponent flat-footed with a charge, or stays back to protect weaker allies such as healers and fellow mages.
