Growing up, Brys was a true son of House Orlovsky. He excelled at his studies, and spent much of his time inside his family’s estate. He was tutored in languages, diplomacy, and combat, but was otherwise fairly unremarkable. In truth, he would have grown up completely overshadowed by his older, more talented siblings, if not for a few small events that charted his course in a new trajectory.
In his 10th year, bandits ambushed a trade caravan that was carrying him and an uncle back to Eagle’s Watch. Beaten and left for dead, it was only by the intervention of a passing priest of Erastil that Brys survived. The priest fed and cared for Brys until he was strong enough to travel. The priest didn’t need to extol the virtues of Erastil as a deity, because through his kind example, Brys began to worship Erastil as well.
Erastil is not a deity often worshipped by city-dwellers, and soon after returning home, Brys left his books, and began to train in the longbow and the survival arts to better commune with Erastil. In his 19th year, his parents provided him with a gift of money to outfit him, and used their influence to secure him a position exploring the Stolen Lands. Bandits were not to be feared anymore, they were to be brought to justice.
