Braydn sighs to himself.
It figures there'd be nothing interesting to do in the city.
He slowly walks back to the Dikali house, and to his room in the house.

Braydn finishes his drink. He then wanders out of the tavern and onto the streets of the city, in search of something to do.
"Of course she does." Braydn drinks his beer.
"Thank you. And yes, miss Lady g~* d+$n Kolina." He sighs again and puts the coppers in her hand.
"Sure. Just nothing too strong. I have to go back to the Dikali house and I don't want to be piss drunk, and at the mercy of certain people."
"To a village. Nice village. Nice people." He sighs. "You know, I like to think I go out of my way to help people. I'm a good person. I help those in need, I pine for some sort of family one day. And yet I keep getting myself in more and more trouble." "I suppose that's life though."
"I don't suppose you've heard anything interesting around here lately?" He smiles at her.
Braydn walks in and sits, taking a moment to himself. Well. You may not save your village, you have a crazy noble woman chasing you, a snake inside your ribcage and you slept in the dirt last night. You must miss the good old days, when all you had to worry about was having to eat people. Which by the way, is something that needs taking care of. He sighs to himself.
Braydn does not close the door on his way out. He heads to his room, changes his clothes and grabs his weapons before heading out to the city.
He stands there a moment in anger. "No. There's nothing you can help me with. I think I'll go to the city. Find someone more fun to talk to." Someone who doesn't want to stab you in the back or hunt you like some animal. He turns around and walks out of the room.
"Valerin told me you asked her some questions about me. And you have shown clear interest in my life. I was curious as to your... Intentions. Mine as well cut to the chase instead of playing cat and mouse, yes?" As if you don't know her intentions.
Braydn carefully opens the door. "I wanted to talk to you, about some things. If you have time..."
"Of course not. Again, I am terribly sorry!" He quickly shuts the door and walks down to Kolina's room. He makes sure to knock on the door. "Lady Kolina?"
Braydn turns and shields his eyes. "I am terribly sorry! I had some concerns that I needed to speak to her about. Terribly sorry again. Uhm, you wouldn't happen to know which room is hers?"
Braydn goes down the hall, opening his door, then all the others. "Lady Kolina? Lady Kolina?"
Braydn turns around and nearly runs to find Kolina.
"Do you know where she went?" Braydn is looking at the pair intensely.
"The lady who... Oh. Oh no." Braydn smile drops and he puts a hand over his mouth. "What the hell did she ask you? Did you answer her questions?"
That's probably the wine... "Have you seen any of the Dikali's around here this morning?"
"Good morning you two! How was your night?" Braydn walks up to them, smiling.
"I'm not sure. I wouldn't want to bother him with... Well, I suppose I should tell him." Braydn sighs, and begins heading back into the house, in search of the Lord Dikali.
"You saw him too? I don't know who he was. He ran away when I tried to speak to him." Braydn looks over at the fountain, remembering the creature.
"How about we keep this quiet for both of us. I'm not sure I'd live this one out." Braydn stands up and brushes himself off. "Neither of us say anything, alright?" He smiles gently at her. You are lucky that wasn't Kolina or Lord Dikali, you idiot.
Braydn shakes the sleep from himself. "Uh, good morning Lady Requis. I seem to have... fallen asleep. Outside. On the ground."
Braydn groans to himself. Dice:
Braydn looks around and sighs exasperated. In a moment of exhaustion, he sits on the ground and lays down on his back in the dirt.
F++* me! Braydn slowly stands up and follows the noise.
Braydn sits quietly, keeping an eye out for more creatures of any type. He smiles to himself, relaxing slightly. Nice to breath after a day like today, isn't it? Finally a moment to yourself.
Braydn walks over and sits on the bench.
Braydn stops running and catches his breath. He looks around the garden for a place to sit.
Braydn tries to grab the creature. "Stop! I only want to talk to you!" Dice:
"Wait! Who... What are you!?" Braydn tries to chase after the creature.
Braydn walks closer to the figure. "Hello...?"
Braydn stands up and bows his head respectfully. "It was wonderful having dinner with you ladies, but I think I'll be heading off to bed now." He leaves the dining room, but instead of going to his room, he walks outside to the garden.
"I think that would be best. Thank you for considering my plea." But what happens if he says no? You will have wasted three days. The villagers may die all because of your failure. Braydn continues to eat in silence.
"I can understand that you might not have the warmest regards for them, however they have taken me in. The village people are kind to me and treat me well. There are also children there who had no part in those events, who don't deserve to die. If you can't do this for them, then I ask that you do it for me. After that, I will leave you alone and not speak of this village to you, if it pains you so." Braydn finishes, slightly aggravated at the nobles who sit around him. You save her from this village, and still continue to pay off the debt for her life and yet she can't bear to send food to stop living beings from dying? Or at least as a gesture to thank you for saving her when no one else would!?
"The village I'm staying in has had an unfortunate sand storm that destroyed their crops. I was hoping to find food, before they run out of rations." Braydn smiles.
"The pleasure is mine. I thank you for welcoming me into your home and to your dinner table." He smiles warmly, thankful to change the topic.
And let's never make the mistake of engaging her in conversation ever again. Braydn smiles a very strained smile. "You, a devil child? I would have never guessed a young woman like yourself to be anything but an angel." He fills his mouth, hoping to end the conversation.
"I can't say I have much to ask. You all seem lovely people. Perhaps you have stories of your own misadventures?" He smiles at Kolina. It feels as though she's playing mind games with you. Makes you wish she would just pounce and get it over with...
Yes Braydn, was your family a cult? "No, no, nothing like that. I actually don't remember what my family name was. Hellbane was a name given to me by someone else, and I've since adopted it as my family name."
Braydn tenses almost visibly at Kolina's actions and moves slightly closer to Opik in his chair. "My family name is Hellbane. Certainly not a name your Ladyship would have heard before." He smiles politely.
Braydn nods and smiles. "Ah, yes, I'm sure it would be. But I'm afraid I mostly work outside the cities nowadays." He laughs, trying to dismiss the idea.
Braydn leans back slightly in his chair, thinking for a moment. "Well, I've been tasked with guarding many people, kings and nobles alike, but I have to say the most interesting person I guarded was a young boy named Amadeus. I was around seventeen, and he was about nine I believe. I hadn't had much experience yet, a few simple fights, and easy to watch nobles. I believed, quite naively, that taking care of a simple boy would be the easiest job I'd ever had. The first few days passed easily, with no trouble. It wasn't until I brought him to the city's market day that anything happened. We stopped at a stall, I turned my head for a moment and when I looked back, Amadeus was gone." Braydn laughs. "I must have spent hours looking for that boy. Finally, I realized I was going to have to go back to the house and tell his parents of his disappearance. However, when I got back, there he was, playing by himself, completely safe and sound. He hadn't even mentioned me losing him to his parents. After a few more scares of the sort, I eventually figured out that he simply got bored easily and wandered off. So I made sure he was always occupied and in my sight. After that, everything went smoothly, but I'll never forget the moment I turned around and all of a sudden he was gone." You ought to visit them again sometime. Amadeus must be almost fourteen now...
"More like a mercenary. My background is mostly as a bodyguard, but over time I've started to do other things."
"Not a soldier exactly. I work alone, rather than with an army. But I still fight like a soldier." He smiles at Requis warmly.
"If you wish me to, I would be honoured." He smiles at Opik. |
