Backstory:
Bogan always stood out as a foreigner in the land of Varisia. Made it tough when people thought he was soft and easy to pick on. Boy, did he put them in their place. Growing up in under the tutelage of his mother, Bogan easily learned of the Dawnflower's ways and took to the scimitar with ease. However, he lacked the true faith and mental discipline to follow her clerical footsteps. Instead of expanding his belief, he extended his physical training, taking up many weapons while still following her code and defend the innocent. To aid in this, he looked to the humble tower shield for that extra bit he needed to be the best defender possible.
Early on in his adolescence, he heard about the Hagfish and it's mighty challenge, about how you could win a nice sack of gold and could have your name carved into the support beam of the bar. It was a challenge he wanted to undertake someday, so he did many a mighty (and somewhat disgusting) exercise to turn his stomach into the ultimate weapon. It was probably the most dedication he put into anything save his training. And come the day of the Swallowtail Festival, he hopes to take a shot at glory that few have accomplished.
