Boga's page

Boga sits in his room, making plans for meeting with the Pope. Working with the Cardinal has been enlightening, and he desires to make another push for unification. In the distance he hears his name being called by a strangely desperate Zagathoth. Concerned for one of his cohorts, he springs from his chair and hurries into the hallway, "Zagathoth! I am here!"

Zagathoth steps around the corner and immediately Boga sees he is clothed only in a bedsheet. Boga's eyebrows rise and he immediately stops, "You had me worried. I thought you may be under attack." With a flat expression, he says, "I see that I was wrong."

lol- I meant 2-3 kids by 2-3 different women, but I suppose twins or triplets would work too...

”I am the champion,” Zagathoth answers with a broad toothy grin. Stealing the sheet, he stands to reveal how ready he is to continue celebrating then offers, ”if you do not want to invite anyone else right now, I’ll go find the healer and see if he can help you continue...”

Boga! I’m gonna need a lesser restoration for my lady, stat.

That is too funny, dude. If Boga helps out here, I get to play one of the offspring the next campaign!

Boga is not proficient with armor or shields. He lost it because of his archetype, Ecclesitheurge. I liked the Monk/Ecclesitheurge combo, and monk fit in with the idea of a traveling cleric, so that's why he has that 1 level of monk.

At any rate, the bracers would be great for Boga; however, seeing that he does not get directly in combat, if someone else can make better use of them, that would be fine.

Boga will not turn down the RoP +2, but if someone else needs it, then that's fine. He could, of course, use the potion of Fly, but he can cast Fly (as part of Travel domain), so it might be better for Johann to take it for use as Zagathoth's mount.

Also, can Quin-bot use a wand of Inflict Serious Wounds? Is that on his spell list?

Finally, did Striga Lucrezia have some bracers?

After the Cardinal's execution of Striga Lucrezia, but prior to the teleportation

Feeling the unease brought on by Lucius' actions, Boga feels the need to speak out. As he begins, his halo gives a faint light. "Everyone, do not doubt, do not fear the path we are upon. Our Lord and Savior has promised all believers salvation and the right to enter Heaven to live eternally with Him." His voice rises and his halo brightens as he speaks, "What other god loves his children so and grants them such honor and promise?" He looks intently at the others, particularly Johann and Ogon, "Look at those 2 young girls. Remember the infant, infant, cast into the fire! We have seen the evil, the utterly pernicious acts taken by the enemies of God. Our God is good! Those who seek to undermine His will, those who seek to undermine his promise Must Not Succeed! They endanger our God. They endanger his Holy plan for us. They seek personal power over the Greater Good, individual aggrandizement over the salvation of millions. They actually seek to bring down our God at the cost of Salvation for All to advance themselves only!" Boga's eyes are wide and his face has flushed, "We must not allow this! All believers in Christ, all who wish to live with the Most High God eternally must unite! Our Lord has chosen us, given us gifts to ensure His Will is Done. We Shall Not Fail!" He drops to one knee, crosses himself, and lifts up the hand around his neck. By now, his halo is almost blinding, yet it does not hurt to look upon him. "Look at the sacrifices already made! God expects nothing less from us! And we shall give it to Him or perish in the attempt! This Striga Lucrezia served the very Antichrist against whom we struggle in the Name of Our Father. She was not repentant, lying to the very end. For her, there is no promise." He rises and straightens his robes. The intensity of his halo gradually lessens. "Are we clear?"

Boga's new understanding of the universe and the gods within it is profound and has fundamentally altered his perspectives. He nods and whispers back "The enemies of God, if unrepentant, perish. They must not be allowed to weaken Him. Anything that threatens God, threatens his Gift of Salvation."

You got hit in Round 1, so your withdrawal would be round 2, right? Boga acts before you in initiative (it's a miracle!), so if Boga would know that you had the fear condition, he would use the scroll prior to your withdrawal

Round 2

Conditions: Shield Other | Snake
Snake AC: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36

As Johann rushes back, Boga sees the fear in his eyes, and commands his pack to provide what is needed. "The scroll against fear!" Boga grabs the scroll and reads it in a comforting, almost melodious, chant. "Noli timere: exaudivit Dominus te protegit."

Round 1

Religion: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25 Would Boga know if the fear could be prevented by Protection from Evil? Anything else he would know about these devils?

Boga voice once again rings out, "Savior! Protect Johann with thy shield!"

+2 Sacred to AC for Johann. Don't know if that would alter the outcome of the attacks...

Boga moves toward the battle, to be ready to assist in way he can.

Snake AC: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24

Pre-battle buffing
Boga pulls his Rod of Reach and starts to speak in almost a singing voice, "O Lord, bind me to your mighty servant Zagathoth as he fights your enemies!" The rings on Boga's and Zagathoth's fingers briefly glow as the pain of battle will be shared between them.

Cast Shield Other: Split Damage, +1 Deflection to AC, +1 Resistance to saves

Hearing Zagathoth request the fly spell, Boga speaks up. "The Lord has blessed us with the gift of flight. In his name, I can pass this blessing to you or Johann such that you may orchestrate the deadly attacks you have discussed." Boga crosses himself, "May we be victorious in His name."

Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27 Boga looks around as Quinlan pulls levers and Johann topples thrones...

I can see that Johann has an affinity for the destruction of large structures dedicated to pagan and heathen gods!

"Ahh, free of the vampires! The Lord has saved you! You are safe now. We can protect you until you are able to return to Rome."

Boga whispers in Lucius' ear, "Can we be sure that these young ladies are who they say they are?" He then observes their behavior as they are being rescued.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37

Prior to searching for the coffins

Boga addresses the others, "Once again, thank you for your protection. The Lord has granted us victory once more." A small glow forms in the palm of the hand around Boga's neck, then pulses outward.

Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 I know; Boga is a weak channeler. Alas

He steps towards Quinlan and offers a drink of the Holy Wine.

Holy Wine Healing: 3d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4, 5) + 10 = 22

In the coffin room

Boga pulls a scroll of Detect Undead offered by his pack. He unfurls it and reads while surveying the coffins.

Boga wants to confirm that the vampires are indeed in the coffins.

Hmmm. There are 2 Skull and Crossbones images. The only duplicated tile, I believe...

Boga gives Zagathoth and Johann questioning glances as he finishes crossing the tiles. He steps onto non-tiled ground and listens to Ogon. "I do have a couple scrolls of Detect Undead that may help us find the resting place of those vampires." He turns to Johann, "Looks like Johann has already begun. These scrolls only last for a minute, but they should help us hone in."

Johann is down 11 HP; Boga is also down 11. Is Quinlan the only other one injured? How many HP is he down?

Alas, Boga would not just start testing tiles unless something peculiar jumped out at him about one. Oh well.

Boga breathes a sigh of relief as the vampires scatter and takes a moment to ponder.

Kn (Religion): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18

He carefully crosses the tiles, stealing a quick glance at the tile of the Cross as he passes by. He takes a look at the other members to see how best to rejuvenate the party.

Let me know how many HP you are down to see how best to heal everyone up.

I went through the dragon and vampire battles to tally Boga's HP damage. As far as I can tell, Boga was only hit once by the chain lightning. Between that and the subsequent channeled healing, he is only down 11 HP. I'm going with that, unless something else is pointed out.

Do we know in character that one tile is a boon? I have a guess, so if so, Boga might just take Johann up on his generous offer to stride across the tiles... lol

EDIT: Having read Zagathoth's comments now, I see that my guess is in line with his. And for the same reasons: 1) The safe path leads right to it. 2) The theme of the campaign. 3) The tile does something good. So my guess is the cross over the pentagram.

Sorry I've been absent. Work and life have been distracting these past weeks, but I'm back. I'll level Boga to 7 and act on Round 3 of this fight.

Also: Boga, could you take this? I gave it to you a while ago, but wasn't sure it ever made it to your inventory:

I think we've both asked the other about it a couple times before, so let's make it official. Boga has Rumpelstiltskin's Rucksack. I'll add it to Boga's inventory along with the salve.

I agree on keeping the salve.

Not counting Rumpelstiltskin's Rucksack, Boga has 21k of magic items. He was low before the headband, but now he's over. So Boga can pass on his share of the gold (though any of that amount that the group wants to dedicate to scrolls would be nice).

One issue for Zagathoth is whether he wants the new falchion. Technically, it is a better weapon than Doomcrescent, but I know he did not like how it performed in the battle. Perhaps Boga or Lucius could explain basic statistics and opponent difficulty and how it was not the sword's fault? I'm sure Zag would really appreciate that. LOL

I believe she has already delivered the message to Lucius (the vellum scroll).

Item disposition is still an issue. Boga would like to keep the headband, but it is quite valuable (16k), so selling it and distributing the proceeds is an option. As for the other items, a falchion and something else (a dagger? I'd have to look at this point) have not been claimed or sold.

Boga smiles broadly and is barely able contain his laughs at Johann's version of the story. "Dame Tringelda, let not the great Johann bore you with the stories of our humble efforts to serve our Lord and Savior. He simply embraces any opportunity to bring one who, ahhh, opposes our Lord to a greater understanding of the reality God has gifted us. Please, do tell us of yourself and how you learned of the peerless Okumura. However it came to be, you would be most fortunate to hear him perform in person. Truly magical..."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22 After his enlightenment, Boga has become more suspicious of any not fully committed to his God.

Boga gives a small smile and a slight shake of his head at Johann's comments. "No filter, as always...""I'm all for destroying evil! Any enemy of God must repent or face our Lord's wrath!" He looks around the room for the expected approval from the others. "Now, as a practical matter, what do we want to do with the items found in the catacombs? Distribute? Sell?"

I am definitely in. I know my posting has been atrocious this last 2-3 weeks, but I am committed to this campaign. It's been great so far. And I fully expect it to continue to be!

Boga steps from his room at the beautiful palazzo. He stands there a little bleary-eyed and stretches. "Feels like I've just awoken from a long winter's nap," he says aloud to no one in particular. He shakes his body as if casting off a layer of dust. "At least I have those scrolls done."

I'm intentionally being vague on the scrolls. What exactly he created greatly depends on the resources we have available.

He enters the dining room and grabs a piece of bread. "I understand we have been summoned for a meeting. Time to descend into the catacombs?"

Nicely done, Johann! That was very nice.

”When we are done killing things for the pope we could go kill this man whose booty is on your head, Fox,” Zagathoth suggests.

Duhhh! We all know that booty head is punishable by death! LOL. I avoid it at all costs!

"Such is not the way evil works, Johann. Whatever is given is taken, but sates not. Requirements are made, disregarding the ability to satisfy them. There is no fairness, understanding, or compromise... Except when demanded by a superior force!

"This is just part of why we must be unflagging in our service to the Divine that is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!" He wipes his brow and looks about as if his words are self-evident and beyond questioning.

Boga shakes his head, "We can only be responsible for our own actions. Thank goodness our Lord and Savior respects that! But evil has no need for reason or rational thought. It does what it does, and it is up to us to fight it."

Boga rests his hand on Fox's shoulder. "Fear not! God has given us to be with you. And when we are once again in the catacombs, none shall find you!"

Boga quickly points at Sifu Scorpion, "Zagathoth! That one! Attack the bald one!"

Boga rushes in, seeing the numerous combatants fighting in a terrible, vicious dance. He pauses a moment to take it in and determine who is fighting whom. He then moves close to Fox and calls out, "Lord, protect thy servant, Fox, from his many enemies." as a cloud of light briefly extends from the hand around Boga's neck and engulf Fox before disappearing.

Boga reddens even more and beads of sweat begin to form on his forehead. He pats his face down, "Oh my. The Cardinal will pay for this..."

"No, no. What you describe does not indicate disease. I should have been more specific. The changes of which I speak would be changes you would notice hours or days after you completed your... your... activities with Miss Molly. The changes you describe during are perfectly normal." Boga clears his throat, "For you."

Would any of us have noticed Johann's quick departure?

I'm beginning to think we were safer in the catacombs!

Regarding the disposition of loot, errr, items collected in the catacombs, does anybody lay claim? Otherwise, I'd say Lucius would be best to sell the sword, dagger, and jewels (am I forgetting anything?). When we have the results of the transaction, we can distribute as we see fit.

In the morning Zagathoth seems both more chipper and less well rested than normal. After loading up a heaping plate of breakfast he sits down next to the healer. ”Guten morgan,” he says grinning widely, ”Der Vater sagte zu fragen Sie über Sex Krankheiten ...”

Boga shifts uncomfortably in his chair. His face reddens as he looks heavenward and crosses himself, "Mein Gott..." Slowly he turns and faces Zagathoth, "It is good that you come to me and ask these questions, but these things are best discussed in private, not at the breakfast table. Perhaps when we are done eating, you can join me in the library for a discussion?" Boga's visage is inquisitive and slightly pleading. "I must talk to the Cardinal about this. What has he gotten me into?"

Later, in the library (with the candlestick, lol)
After breakfast, Boga goes and sits in a comfortable chair in the library and waits for Zagathoth. He closes his eyes and contemplates his words. Once Zagathoth enters, he gestures towards a chair and says, "Come; have a seat."

Boga clears his throat, "As I said before, it is good that you have come to me with this. I heard... we all heard your, ahh, activities of last night. As Lucius has obviously told you, certain afflictions can be passed during... such activities. It is important to pay attention to your health... down there, whenever you engage in such. If you notice any changes: redness, differences in sensation, texture, itching... really, any change at all, it may need medical attention. Let me know if any such thing happens. Questions?" He breathes a sigh as he gets all that out, "A sex talk with an Orc? Really!? The mysteries of the Lord are limitless..."

Great way to pass the buck!

Fear not! O, Zagathoth! That is exactly what we want to hear... That, and your unique interpretation of otherwise innocuous phrases.

ok, then. Unless someone has a compelling counterargument (in character or out), 5 days it is. Selling, buying, training, crafting. And away we go...
