Background:

Peter hails from the lands of the cold north, raised as a child by the nomadic peoples of the Bearpelt tribe. In his youth he was always the odd child out, never quite fitting in with the other children due to his frail build and poor physical prowess. Where he excelled though was in areas of the mind. He was an intelligent child with a knack for for the spoken word and the arts. He also had a razor sharp tongue and wit and used them to get himself out of the trouble that they also generally landed him in.

In his adolescence he was afflicted with nearly crippling blindness. Over time the blindness became less severe, but shortly thereafter he was stricken with a strange form of pox which left his skin constantly blistered and raw. His family, not fully understanding what the cause was, and thinking him cursed, abandoned him to the cold snows of the north, where he was forced to fend for himself and live his childhood as a nomad. Knowing only once place he might survive, he headed for the community of Hillcross, where he spent the next six years of his life working for whoever would have him.

The years of being a maimed orphan were not kind to Pete. He suffered terribly at the hands of bullies and other children, and he was always on the defensive. Then at the age of sixteen, his divine gifts manifested themselves. He found he had the ability to heal others with a touch, and felt a strange link to an intelligence just beyond his reach, always just at the edge of his consciousness.

Suffering enough at cruelty of others, and wanting to come to understand what his afflictions meant and what his true purpose was, Pete packed up and left in the dead of night on his final day in the community, and headed for Ustalav, the closest place he knew to a real society where he might finally be accepted.

Description:

Pete is horrid to behold, yet carries himself with an almost angelic demeanor. His eyes are clouded over and never seem to properly focus in one spot and his skin is covered in scabs and boils. His clothing is generally moist from all of the fluids that leak from the sores covering his body. At the same time this makes for a rather intimidating person to be confronted with.

His is of average height and weight, with black hair that is quite disheveled. Under his plain cotton robes he wears a battered suit of scale mail. Strapped across his back is a heavy shield and a rusted morning star hands from his belt.

Mannerisms:

Pete is a talker. His first instinct in any situation is to influence the encounter with speech. With intelligent beings he will always try to talk his way through an issue rather than fight, using his wit and silver tongue to gain the opponent's trust. When that fails, he will switch to intimidating tactics. If forced into combat he will let his companions do the fighting while using his magic to keep them alive and supporting their actions from behind the lines of combat with aid attempts. He often attempts to demoralize targets making them easier opponents for his companions to handle.
