Backstory:
Bithisarea Carnacki grew up in a humble family of tinkers in the far-away Varisian city of Riddleport. From an early age, she helped her mother hunt for components for her constructs and gadgets, but she always enjoyed the hunt more than the engineering.
One day, she came home crying with her dark brown hair in a massive dark dandelion puff around her head. Her mother realized that young Sarea had managed to give herself a mild shock of electrical energy through some wild magic. Remembering her wayward elven husband, who had come to town to see the cyphermages and left her long ago, Ms. Carnacki sent Sarea up to the Cypher Lodge for advice and instruction.
It turns out that Sarea's dad had left a little money and a lot of goodwill with the cyphermages, along with instructions that Sarea should be raised in the ways of elven magic. The elves and half-elves of the cyphermages were happy to comply, and they were all the more delighted when they discovered Sarea's ability to sniff out rare and valuable objects.
As she grew, she had to learn to fight, and her elven and semi-elven mentors found her especially enthusiastic to learn the traditional branched spear, using her quickness and agility to wield the ancient weapon with grace and skill. Blasting magic down the shaft is a bonus.
Being the middlewoman between aggressively acquisitive mages and smugglers has its risks, though. Something went wrong, and suddenly it seemed best if Sarea should simply leave Riddleport for a while.
The cyphermages had divined that there would be some interesting developments far away in the center of the continent, something involving the few. Sarea is on assignment to investigate fey magic in the Broken Lands, to gather information and artifacts, and to report back in a few years when the heat is off.
