Goals and Ties
--------------------
Short Term Goals: Fighting, Feasting and...Fraternizing.
Long Term Goals: Recovering stories and items of surface dwarf heroes, particularly Cadash ones.
Ties: House Cadash, House Davri
Backstory:
Bermet Davri Cadash, as her parents often called her in frustration as a child, was born under the open sky as her mother and mother’s mother and mother’s mother’s mother had before her. Some of her mother’s family are kalna - surface dwarves who keep the traditional caste systems and through those family members young Bermet learned of the history of the Davri family and the Smith caste.
The rest of her knowledge of dwarves came from her father who was born in Orzammar and...something happened. He had always been sketchy on the details but that he was a scribe in the Shaperate, things happened that members of more powerful houses fought over, and Bermet’s father was the scapegoat. He left for the surface in fear of worse and, after some time, fell in and through more events that weren’t really explained to Bermet, he became recognized as part of House Cadash. Something about very distant shared ancestors - or maybe ancestors who were like blood brothers - along with some saved lives and a lot of water.
Bermet’s father told her of the stories he had learned as a child and the stories he had learned in his work in the Shaperate. Bermet has mixed feelings on many of them and on the idea that certain individuals seem to control the knowledge of dwarven history, which erases most surface dwarves like her. She sometimes has feelings about changing that, about collecting and writing the history as her father had done, though the idea of a...surface shaperate makes her uneasy, particularly with the way some kalna act already about tradition. Knowing a lot of details about one’s distant ancestors can be very important - at least for dwarves - even if knowing all the details about one’s own parents doesn’t seem to be.
Family relations are tense though as Bermet’s mother isn’t of any particular importance individually or in a strong family within House Davri, that didn’t make a big impact on Bermet’s life so far. At least, not as much as Bermet hears happens to other distant relations with arranged political marriages and what-not. Bermet wants little to do with the political side of dwarven traditions, or the Carta, or life in general. She wants the simple pleasures of life with a few shiny things along the way.
Bermet has been working in mercenary groups for a while now. Sometimes in connection to the Carta and sometimes to others with enough coins and an interesting job that suits a small warrior that anyone and everyone seems to think is a merchant anyways. It makes fleeces items a lot easier with a small, adorable, semi-trustworthy looking, merchanty face. She’s gotten quite a few jobs involving treasures or lost items in water, and she isn’t sure if she’s a good swimmer or if she’s just good at sinking like a stone and getting back out again quickly...
