Silly proposal for how to make scheduling easier: Anger the Venture-Captain Perhaps you celebrated your last victory too hard. Maybe you gave the VC an honest answer to what you thought of his latest haircut. Regardless, you have been busted down for your next mission. Treat your level as one lower for the purposes of qualifying for a scenario and for calculating challenge points (if applicable). You are so irritated having to go on a mission beneath you that you suffer -1 on all rolls. In addition, because you don't take the threat seriously, you critical fail when you miss by 9 rather than the usual 10. No more than two characters may have been busted down in a single party. It wouldn't do to have a party of all troublemakers. Don't worry though, your treasure bundles are scaled up to your actual level. The VC is petty but not that vindictive!
Peff wrote: Is the reason for no AP XP for Society related to the lower SFS level cap? I admit, I'm disappointed to hear that there won't be boons or credit for running them now. AP Chronicles are usually allowed to be applied to any level character and then scaled appropriately (at least in PFS2e which SFS2e is based off). So I don't think it is a level mismatch issue. My guess is that it probably has more to do with saving the team time from needing to sanction APs and not needing to worry about the narrative (sanctioning a hypothetical future AP where you help the Aspis Consortium would be awkward). Additionally, now that you can start your characters up to level 5 and all the scenarios are replayable, the value of the Chronicle to the player seems lower. In PFS2e, getting a 'free' level up on a mid/high level character is quite a boon, particularly after your 1st character. Whereas in SFS2e, the entire level range ought to be easily reachable via scenario play.
Quote: Our story begins with Starfinder Society Scenario #1-00: Collision’s Wake, a special double length scenario for 3rd-level pregenerated characters written by John Godek III. A double length scenario. That is an interesting variant, which could be nice for Lodges that have 5 hour blocks. I wonder what rules will be different (e.g. will it still give 4 XP or 8 XP).

PFS2e isn't changing, so if AL refugees don't like these changes then PFS2e remains a natural home for them. That being said, I am curious what changes are you are seeing that makes SFS2e similar to AL?
1. How do levels interact with being able to apply chronicle sheets? For example, when I play a level 5 pre-gen, which characters can I apply that chronicle to? When I run a level 3-4 adventure as a GM, which characters can I apply that chronicle to. 2. Will slow track still exist? 3. Since you asked for boon suggestions, something totally off the wall: a level down. Sometimes I have a character that I would like to be able to play longer, and with the relative lack of high level play opportunities (and the new level cap), I would actually like to be able to take a, say, level 7 character and bring him back to level 5, so he is eligible to participate in tables that have need to offer pregens.
Maybe it will become more obvious next week as XP will be presumably discussed, but I am curious as to whether the "level cap" just means that adventures won't be published and so characters will be forced into retirement, or if characters will actually be capped, such that they can continue playing level 9-10 scenarios indefinitely. I could see it going either way.
Show Must Go On Spoiler: How much time pressure are the PCs under during Pre-Show Jitters? I know they are only allowed 6 investigation checks, but do they also have several hours to heal between encounters? I think I am most interested in the time available between the A2 and A3 encounters, as the flavor heavily implies plenty of time for healing before the Show Must Go On section.
