Background:

Loupe is part of the Ardoc clan of Kaer Maga, a child of an Ardoc Brother and a Valdemar mother. A child supposed to unite the two great merchant families and to become a great golemcrafter.
Loupe lived his early life in Kaer Maga. He was fast, brilliant, charismatic… and seemed to have an uncanny ability to make the worst decisions. Described as “living in a world of his own” or “living in his own head” or “a great bloody idiot even if he does speak all those languages” Loupe was determined to live an interesting life.
The first decision was to secretly join a street gang and then actually get caught breaking into his own house.
Who accepted a bet to prove that a ritual in a dark tome wasn’t a working demon summoning spell.
Who lost three weeks of his life and came back with magical thassilonian tattoos.
Who got into a magical duel with an evil necromancer, killed him, and didn’t burn the body.
Who - when sent to his relatives in Magnimar - proceeded to join another street gang, attempt to invent a spell to turn gold into lead, joined an Urgathoan cult without realising it wasn’t just a foreign food club (“Oh - that’s why they kept speaking Necril”) and ended up being banished ahead of a whole new issue.
His family (both sides) could see his incredible potential, but the decision was made to send him to a far out of the way place where he could hopefully settle down peacefully and live without incident. They also insisted he dismiss his old familiar and raise one that didn’t have to live in a fishbowl.
His new familiar (a Valet Thrush named Kindragon)has proven to be a brilliant idea, as it actually has a degree of common sense. It has also developed several bald patches and taken up eating tobacco when possible.
Moving to sandpoint was not as good an idea. He moved down with some employees and was supposed to start building a business. He got as far as building the bedrooms (and not even the master bedroom) before realising that he could make money subcontracting to work on the temple. Sure that his family would be proud of him he has done so. Amazingly this has not yet gone horribly wrong, though why he is celebrating the festival that means he is no longer going to be paid when he has burned through most of his capital is an interesting question...

Personality:

Friendly, outgoing, happy, naive. Technically brilliant at a great many things he often forgets to apply himself, and must be steered by his familiar in any situation requiring the common sense of a six year old. The core of Loupe’s problem stems from a frontal lobe mutation that has basically destroyed his ability to plan. While he has an excellent memory and a brilliant mind he is steered almost entirely by his impulse control. He is a brilliant artist and craftsman when he is interested in something, and has enormous issues concentrating on something he finds boring.
