Oosa grew up in a forest. Which forest, one that has trees and plants and bugs and animals and goblins he would respond. He didn't remember much of life before the cage... nursery, beyond it being cramp and filled with biting.
Then came time trying to figure out what he was good at. He cut the cook, buried the grave digger, ruined the gardens and otherwise caused trouble. So much so that he was to be fed to the worgs to end it all. That too ended terribly as he was only chewed on rather than killed. He soon found he was good at connecting with animals and training them. He did so for several years.
He trained them, until the longshanks came. A group moved in and started killing the tribe by the dozens. They fell around him and he ran until a he and some others were cornered and only divine intervention saved him. A cleric told them that the fire of Serenrae would cleanse the forest of evil and they were set ablaze. The others fell and he was badly burned. For three days he crawled after the longshanks only able to mutter "Serenrae." When the cleric noticed, he was about to kill poor Oosa but instead saw it as a way to spread the faith. Over the next year he trained Oosa using stories and other oral traditions. Now it was Oosa's turn to venture out into the world on his own.
