1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 Mantooth Longbrow wrote: "I am Sir Mantooth Longbrow, Knight of the Elsir Vale, and recently pronounced Magistrate of Brindol. " "So, we have a new magistrate in town. Very interesting." The chief of security replies with a coolness in his voice. "So I take it the young Jared did not work out?! How unfortunate, he had such potential. Wouldn't you agree?" The chief of security turns and begins to pace the courtyard scratching his bald head as if in contemplation. Sense Motive DC13:
You believe that Bastak Tearax is trying to send a message to the guards around him. However, you are not clear what that message is. Perception DC 20:
One of the two guards at the door to the barracks (-D2) enters into the barracks.
Tearax continues talking, "So what exactly is this evidence against the Lady Kaal? Has she really done something terrible? I mean, she has done so much for this city, it is hard to believe that she would simply betray the trust endowed upon her?! Are you sure this is not simply some misunderstanding? She certainly has many international contacts with whom she deals in a great deal of business." ![]()

![]() Guard wrote: "I mean, I did ask him about a song, but I just wanted to know if you was good at what he does. I wasn't trying to be you know . . . entertained." "You were asking about his singing?!! You are a guard of House Kaal and your job is not to be asking for a song! Your job is to stand up straight, act with discipline, and make sure this estate is secure. As it is, you appear to have allowed a whole contingent of armed men to enter the estate and threaten the security of this entire manor. You are going to have to deal with me about this later. Right now, we need to set things in order." Turning to Red and the others he asks, "Now could somebody kindly explain to me what in Hells is going on here? From what you are ranting, bard, you are claiming to be a special guests to Magistrate Kaal and now you are here to perform for the Lady Kaal?! Well, I never heard anything about this, and I know everything about the comings and goings on here at the Manor House. Either you've gotten the date all wrong or you are simply lying through your teeth. Now which is it?!!" ![]()

![]() Red wrote: "Nice try, I don't blame you, in your position I too would be trying to bribe me into performing a short piece and understand you trying to use your position of influence to wrangle it... get the troops thankful on a boring night perhaps, show a little command? I get it." "What in a Cheliaxian bar is going on here?" Turning to the defensive guard, Tearax demands, "Did you ask this guy to sing a song? Are you out of your mind?" ![]() I see you are not interested in small talk. Well no worries, neither is this guy! After a moment wait, a short bald man, armored in plate mail strides out of what looks like a barracks. His face has a scowl on it, and his eyes pierce at you as he approaches. He walks quickly and with intensity. He is escorted by two armed guards, one of whom holds onto a large black dog that tugs at his chain. The viscious dog glares his teeth as it growls in a low deep sound. "I am Bastak Tearax, and I am in charge of security here at Kaal Manor. I was told there is a problem. The only problem I see is that I was awoke from my bed and we have unexpected guests. You see, I don't like surprises! So who are you and what is the meaning of this visit?" |
