I get what Blazej's getting at here. This character started out with the concept: "Hey the Blakros Museum is fun! Why not create a Blakros daughter who is totally embarrassed by the museum and the Blakros legacy?"

And that's when I found out that there was an actual boon that cost tons of Prestige and that other people would be mad at me if I claimed to be a Blakros without taking that Vanity.

So Bobbi became a Blakros bastard, instead who was doing all the Blakros adventures in order to make good with the family who rejected her, and that became an awesome story arc. Eventually, she played the adventure where she was finally offered that Blakros title and she rejected them.

Maybe all in all it was okay that I couldn't do my original plan for this character.

Hmm

PS I did purchase a noble title for myself elsewhere, though.

I want to do so, but there was never a clarification that stated lunar oracles can get Grizzlies, alas. If I could get a grizzly, Hoot might actually become competent.

Sovereign Court

Bobbi hugs her owlbear close. "Look, Hoot may be adorably incompetent, but I pull enough weight for the both of us!"

Owlbears that are based on bears rather than grizzly bears are not the most powerful of animal buddies, alas. Hoot's main role is too look scary and flank with party members since he can rarely land a hit of his own, poor thing. I could have made him better with substantial investments in equipment, but I decided to mainly invest in Bobbi instead. Hoot's a pet. He delivers things, flanks, and does stuff out of combat, but his chassis is horribly underpowered.

Though... I must be doing something right with Hoot. The one time he died, the entire party volunteered on their own to help bring him back to life. Hoot's antics have been a continual source of amusement wherever goes.

My main issue is that Lunar Oracles only get bears, not grizzlies as their animal companion list is limited. So alas no Owl Grizzly Bear for Bobbi, who was built specifically for the Owlbear. Her Owlbear Hoot will remain adorably incompetent!

Hello John.

I'm a Lunar Oracle.

May Lunar oracles also have grizzlies, so that Hoot could get a growth spurt? Or will my Hoot have to remain an Owlbear cub?

I am in posession of an adorably incompetent owlbear companion named Hoot. Hoot tries to do things, but all the poor thing can manage is to flank with other Pathfinders and aid another. It only looks scary. I’d love it if some people had the option to make owlbears off of grizzlies (alas not an option for lunar oracles like myself.)

I am a bastard Blakros daughter who has been going through every Blakros adventure that I can. Along the way, I have discovered several things. First, I don’t need the Blakros name even though that was what my character initially desperately wanted to earn.

Two... I want to help Nigel help himself. My cousin is in over his head, and I want to help him bust out and be a real Pathfinder again.

All I ask is that if you do, it is a 7-11 so I can be there. This would top my bucket list.

However, I would want to get Cousin Nigel out first. The poor guy needs a chance to do something else with his life.

THE GM's EASTER EGG

A pretty if slightly pouty girl climbs the steps of the Blakros museum, spear in hand, followed by an hooting owl bear that flaps its wings as it hops up each step.

"Hooooot!" it complains.

"Yeah, I don't enjoy visiting Uncle Nigel either, Hoot," Bobbi says. Even though her vision was clouded, she did not need to see to know where she was going. How many times had she walked up these steps before to pull Nigel's ass out of the fire?

The girl who was not a Blakros kept marching, back straight. She had made much of herself, and was no longer the child who cried for a family that didn't want her because her father had brought no dowry. She was respected, and had even gotten herself her own title to fling in Honaria's face. Plus, she had Hoot, her tutor, Basil and the esteem of the Society with her.

Not caring that Nigel's office door is closed, she shoves it open. "Yes, it's me."

Nigel sputters. "Bobbi, you know you're not allowed..."

"Shut up, Nigel." She tosses Belkzen tokens of passage, bits of shadow drake hide and a skeleton's jawbone on the table. "This is a small portion of the crap that I had to deal with because your agents fouled up. Blakros daughters always bring back mementos of their travel to the museum, right? So here's mine. I want you to see this, and remember. THIS is what happens when you take ethical shortcuts, and let your greed override all the morality and common sense that you had as a pathfinder."

"I'm tired of your crap, Nigel. I'm tired of cleaning up Blakros messes and hoping for acceptance or a smidgin of acknowledgement. Tell that scheming harpy Honoraria that I am DONE."

Message delivered, she stomps out of the office.

"Hooooooot?!" Hoot queries.

She laughs. "No, I don't know if I'm serious about that, Hoot. Maybe I will help them again. But it's high time they worked on pleasing me instead of the other way around."

Whistling, she heads off to the Grand Lodge and her next great adventure.

A pretty but somewhat pouty girl grabs her spear as she walks past you, muttering to herself. "I can't believe that we're rescuing my demented family again. What have they gotten themselves into this time? I've lost track of the amount of times that I've had to rescue them and their creepy ass museum!"

She huffs, and disappears into the crowd of Pathfinders heading to the Museum.

Inspiration to diplomacy is an unlimited, always on ability for me.

But if class features do not add to the day job check, then I probably don't get it.

Bobbi goes off to pout.

(This is normal. She's a very pouty oracle.)

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 *****

Is there a source for your answer about point number two and the unlimited bonus? If so, I have a pouty psychic search Oracle who would be VERY interested in that!

Hmm

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 *****

Storywise, I do think it is actually "one and done" for Bobbi. She carried that owlbear egg in her backpack for three adventures until it finally hatched for her.

(IE, she got her primal companion revelation.)

So if Hoot dies, I really can't imagine replacing him with another Owlbear. The cry of "Hooooooot!" as he charges into battle.... It just would not be the same with a different Owlbear.

Hmm

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 *****

Oh! So if my beloved Hoot dies, I can take another Owlbear?

All of my tables have acted like he was one and done. Many of my fellow PCs have acted quickly to save him whenever he's gone down, because we all thought he'd be gone forever if he died.

Huh. My gnome tutor, Basil, is falling down on his job, keeping me up-to-date. (Or maybe I misread the chronicle because I'm a blind oracle.)

Thank you Andy. I just learned something new today.

"My dumb family not only kicked me out, they never gave me enough money for a ring."

___

Pouty little Bobbi here is my other oracle, but I went with a different archetype for her and am LOVING it. She's a psychic searcher, which means she gets inspiration dice! She's a full caster, and she has great skills. She doesn't get to play with other oracle mysteries like Lyric does, but hey... she's still a very strong PFS character that I'm having a lot of fun with.

I'm of mixed feelings about those rings of revelation. On the one hand, my characters would have LOVED to steal a hand-picked revelation from another mystery. On the other hand... I'm actually glad that you have to take a class in oracle to play with oracle toys. Not having those rings around ensures that each mystery stays unique and distinctive.

"Great! I thought all those goody-goody Shelynites would never leave!"

The girl looks a bit pouty, and is accompanied by an owlbear she calls "Hoot". She feeds some of the proffered fey jerky to the owlbear without a second thought.

"Went on a mission where we dealt with mites and gremlins. Those things are nasty. I'd rather have goblins anyday!" She grins at Rukk, and says in goblin, "I'm Baroness Bobbi, the Sovereign Court's chief goblin expert. I've studied the Licktoad and Birdcruncher tribes. Interesting people. That's how I got Hoot, here."

She then switches back to common and points to the gnome hiding behind her. "This is my tutor, Basil. He took me in when my dumb family rejected me because Mom had me without getting a big dowry from Dad first. My family has a court order on me, so I can't use the family last name, but I can tell you that their last name starts with a "B", rhymes with "hose" and that they run the creepiest museum in town. Yeah, they have money, but they're nuts."

She is currently blissfully unaware that Nevakali is an adopted member of that very same noble family...

Owlbear pets are awesome! I have an adorable owlbear in PFS that I take everywhere with me.

This character is somewhat partial to monsters... Still, it is amazing how many different places she has taken her pet owlbear so far.

Of course, being a member of the Blackros family is something your character can earn. (Vagueness here, as I don't want to spoil something or hint at a boon.) In fact, simply claiming to be "Bob Blackros," a member of the family, would probably be considered particularly uncool, since that would be a claim that your PC had earned such a privilege.
I have a character that's saving the resources for that particular something to come about. If someone showed up and just started playing a brand new character claiming such that had no way to obtain that particular something, that would very much grind my gears and I'd have to question it, either as a player or as a GM.

I started my Blakros character before I knew there was a boon. After I found out about the boon, she went from being a Blakros daughter to being a Blakros bastard.

Now when I introduce her, it's like this:

"Um, my name is Bobbi. My stupid family put a restraining order on me so I can't use my last name."

I play her almost exclusively in Blakros scenarios, usually with her hood up and a faked low voice so that "Uncle" Nigel won't recognize that she's sneaking into the museum again.

Incidentally her backstory includes handling a cursed object in the museum that messed with her sight.

It's ironic -- 90% of her personality is derived from having been told that I couldn't give her the Blakros name!

Bobbi is a lunar oracle who already has a dex of 7. She's been a fun character so far. Blind, clumsy, and with a chip a mile wide on her shoulder where the Blakros Clan are concerned. On the plus side, she rocks knowledge checks and is pretty okay as back up melee in a fight. Plus, she has a cute owl bear. Who doesn't love a character with a pet monster?

You can see her character sheet if you click my avatar.

She mainly fights with a long spear, but I'm finally getting real cash and considering magic weapons and such. I'd love for her to be able to fight with a fauchard. I was considering the cracked opalescent white pyramid for 1.5K to get exotic weapon proficiency, and then realized that only turns an exotic weapon into a martial one. So I looked at the next step up at the flawed for 3K. It grants EWP at the cost of 3000gp and another -2 to dex.

If any character can handle another -2 to dex, it's Bobbi. She gets charisma to AC, initiative and reflex saves. So... she would have a dex of 5, and trip everywhere she goes, but hey... She's already clumsy.

So the real question is... Is it worth 3K in PFS to get a fauchard? For 3K I could have an adamantine long spear, or most of an attribute booster. I'd love to get a fauchard and eventually make it keen, but is it worth it if I have to pay 3K and take another ding to dex to do so? Can you guys help me with the DPS math?

This is my psychic searcher oracle, Bobbi Blakros. You can see her background and build by clicking on her avatar. Pre-errata, she had resigned herself to having a wisdom-based inspiration pool of exactly 1, and using inspiration only for free boosts to diplomacy, sense motive and a few pre-determined knowledge skills.

Post-ACG errata, she now has a much enlarged inspiration pool based on charisma and is now trying to figure out what things she can do with it.

Can she use it for all the exciting things that investigators do? Can she use it for saving throws? Attack rolls? What all can be done with an inspiration pool? Can you guys give me insight and ideas?

Roberta did not hesitate. She stabbed the Mugger who had dared cast aspersions on the Blakros Museum straight in his philistine heart. "For Art! For Culture!"

So I would type in this to roll my dice...
[dice=Longspear v. Mugger #1]1d20+4+2[/dice] [b][ooc]Includes Divine Favor, Fate's Favored[/ooc]
[dice=Damage]1d8+3+2[/dice]

...and it becomes this!
Longspear v. Mugger #1: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22 Includes Divine Favor, Fate's Favored
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

Or more simply:
[dice]1d20[/dice]
[
dice]1d8[/dice]

becomes...
1d20 ⇒ 5
1d8 ⇒ 4

Similarly, if you click Roberta's avatar, you can see her character sheet. You can do the same with any of the other characters in green text. Everyone formats a little differently, but so long as its clear and readable, you're good!

By the way, you get 2 traits! Have fun!

Sovereign Court

A young and very well-dressed Taldan girl steps forward. Her eyes are clouded, but she still can see well enough to unflinchingly meet the gaze of the Venture Captain.

She courtesies. "Greetings, I am Roberta Blakros, but all my friends call me Bobbi. Um, yes, I'm related to those Blakros. The ones from the museum...."

She looks around, head held high, as if daring you to say anything against the Blakros Clan. When no one does, she recovers her poise and easy manner. "I'm one of the leading goblin experts in the Sovereign Court faction. After my Confirmation, I prevented the assassination of Lady Ulisha, a well-known Pathfinder, and helped her recover Silverhex, a magical weapon of untold value. However, I am better known for my original research into goblin tribes. I completed two in-depth studies of the Birdcrunchers and the Licktoads before the latter was wiped out."

"In addition to these skills, I'm a fairly decent scholar, have excellent diplomatic skills and am an asset in a fight should diplomacy not work. Now, what sort of a mission do you have for us?"
