Background:
On the outside, Reinhard is what the nobility thinks an officer looks like. An ornate sword and a well-crafted officer‘s pistol hang from his belt, and another pistol is strapped to his chest as to emphasize his military background. At his belt he carries a combat knife like most soldiers, but as the nobles would say “nothing but the best for me” therefore even the combat knife is monomolecular.

Although he looks like a propaganda version of an officer, his family has a long history with the imperial guard and he has been trained in an officer’s school and is a very capable combatant and an excellent swordsman. Due to his natural speed and agility he was trained as a scouting and infiltration specialist, something not very common in the school.

After his military education he served as a reserves officer teaching fencing to the local guard. However, as with all nobility there were power struggles, rivalries and inconveniences internally and externally. Being a house built on the legacy of a famous general and a several thousand year history of military men, his house was no stranger to violent solutions. His skillset made him a natural choice for a “problem-solver”. Killing with a knife, sword, pistol, rifle or grenade, Reinhard brought swift and deadly solutions to problems.

The Inquisition noticed Reinhard after an incident with a rising-star officer at a party on his home world. The officer was suspected of answering to different masters than those of the imperium, and was gaining too much popularity with the rank-and-file and was feared to rise to the position of a general soon. Ever faithful to the Imperium, house Oberstein did not like the look of things and sent Reinhard to solve the problem. After intentionally insulting the officer for not knowing the rules of a gentleman’s duel, the officer challenged Reinhard to a duel calling him a “military peacock”. Reinhard proceeded to cut the man’s throat in a single cut and ending his life before a medic could save him.

Unbeknownst to all an inquisitor was among the party guests and understood full well what had happened. Reinhard was recruited by the inquisitor and has since then followed him.
